Sydney website prices in 2026, by type of site
Two quotes for 'a five-page website' can sit thousands of dollars apart because they price different jobs: page count, unique layouts, custom design or a theme, and who writes the copy. Every range below is its publisher's own.
| Type of site | Sydney market range | Source | Codingclave fixed quote (ex-GST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing page: one page for a single offer or ad campaign | A$1,500–3,500 | Keen; 3D Marketing Web | From A$1,200 |
| Brochure, 4–6 pages: information pages and a contact form | A$2,800–5,000 | Devout Digital | Within A$1,200–A$6,900; WordPress A$900–A$4,300 |
| Brochure, 5–8 pages | A$3,500–7,000 | Keen | Within A$1,200–A$6,900; WordPress A$900–A$4,300 |
| Tradie website: services, areas served, quote form | A$2,000–4,000 | Creadiv | Within A$1,200–A$6,900 |
| Business site, 8–15 pages | A$5,000–8,000 | Devout Digital | Within A$1,200–A$6,900 |
| Lead-generation site: built to capture enquiries | A$4,500–10,000 | 3D Marketing Web | Within A$1,200–A$6,900; CRM links priced separately |
| Custom WordPress, mid-range | A$7,000–15,000 | Keen | Custom design within A$1,200–A$6,900 |
| Online store | A$8,000–25,000+; A$5,000–25,000+ | Keen; 3D Marketing Web | A$2,400–A$19,500 |
| Web app or SaaS MVP (first working version of a product) | A$20,000–100,000+; A$40,000–100,000+ | Keen; Horntech | A$9,800–A$98,000 |
Most of these guides don't say whether their figures include GST; if one does, its ex-GST equivalent is about 9% lower. Whatsthedamage, an aggregator publishing no underlying sources, puts a typical Sydney site at A$2,000–6,000.
In our band, a few pages on one layout with your own copy sits near the bottom; a larger custom design with integrations near the top. You get one written figure for your page list.
Software Co puts Sydney agency rates 5–10% above Melbourne and 15–20% above Brisbane. Compare Perth, Adelaide, the Gold Coast and costs across Australia.

Agency, freelancer, package or offshore team: what each costs in Sydney
A senior Sydney developer bills A$100–180 an hour and an offshore developer A$15–30 (Keen To Design), a gap of five to six times. Project prices narrow it, because testing and content take the same hours anywhere.
Sydney agencies and studios
The premium pays for a project manager, an account team and meetings in the CBD or Parramatta. At A$100–180 an hour, 40 hours of build is A$4,000–7,200 in labour. Worth it when one firm should run strategy, design, copy and ads.
Sydney freelancers
Software Co puts Sydney freelancers about 10–30% below agency blended rates, because there is no account team or office to fund. The risk is continuity: if they get sick or busy, your site waits, so ask who holds the logins.
Hiring a web developer in-house
Indeed puts the average Sydney web developer at A$90,833 a year (19 August 2026, from 29 reported salaries). With 12% super, the Super Guarantee rate since 1 July 2025, that is about A$101,700 before leave, equipment and recruitment. A fixed project fee plus optional hosting and support at A$80–A$240 a month costs far less unless you ship changes every week.
| Provider | Project price | Hourly rate | What you get, and what to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney agency | A$4,000–20,000+ (Keen); A$8,000–40,000+ (Horntech) | A$100–250, Australian agencies (Whatsthedamage) | Project manager and account team; highest price |
| Sydney packages | From A$1,997; tradie or clinic A$2,997 (3D Marketing Web). Studios A$2,499–6,000 (Creadiv) | n/a | Compare page counts per package |
| Freelancer | A$1,000–3,000 (Creadiv); A$2,500–6,000 (Keen); Australian freelancer A$3,000–10,000 (Horntech) | A$80–150 (Whatsthedamage; Software Co) | Work waits if they're busy or sick |
| Budget template package | A$495 one page; A$995 up to 5; A$1,995 up to 10 (Sydney Website Builder) | n/a | Check who holds the domain |
| Offshore team | A$1,500–6,000 (Horntech); A$500–1,500 (Creadiv) | A$15–30 (Keen) | Biggest saving; put scope and ownership in writing |
| In-house hire | About A$101,700 a year with super (Indeed; ATO) | n/a | Suits weekly changes |
| Codingclave | Business website A$1,200–A$6,900, fixed | One price per project | Founder-led; domain and code in your name; no on-site visits |

03of 10
What pushes a Sydney quote up or down
Horntech splits a typical A$12,000 Sydney project into discovery 15%, design 25%, development 30%, content 15%, testing 10% and SEO 5%. If a quote has no discovery or testing line, ask why.
Page count and unique templates
Layouts cost more than pages: ten pages from one template take less design time than five that each look different. Ask how many unique templates a price covers.
Custom design or a theme
A theme's layouts are already designed and tested, so you mostly pay for set-up; custom design adds design rounds for each template. Keen's gap between a 5–8 page brochure (A$3,500–7,000) and mid-range custom WordPress (A$7,000–15,000) shows what custom work and extra features add.
Copy, photos and integrations
Supplying finished copy removes most of the content line; photography is usually separate. A form that books slots, takes deposits or feeds your CRM is its own job, so name your tools. Replacing a site that ranks needs a 301 redirect from every old URL. Store costs: online store costs.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
Google's Core Web Vitals rate a page good at a Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less. Light images and few plugins reach those at build time; fixing a slow site later means reworking it.
Accessibility
Ask for level AA of WCAG 2.2, a W3C Recommendation since 5 October 2023, in the scope. Building in contrast, keyboard use and labelled forms from the start costs less than retrofitting.
Privacy notices and the Spam Act
Put a privacy notice beside contact and booking forms. Businesses turning over A$3 million or less are generally exempt from the Privacy Act, but health service providers are covered at any turnover (OAIC; see clinic websites). Newsletter sign-ups need consent under the Spam Act 2003.
| Item | Sydney range | Source | How we quote it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extra designed page | A$150–400 | Creadiv | Per page in the written scope |
| Booking or enquiry system | A$500–3,000 | Keen | Its own line in the fixed quote |
| Membership area | A$3,000–10,000 | Keen | Its own line; large portals quoted as custom software |
| API or CRM integration | A$1,500–10,000 | Keen | One line per integration |
| Content and copywriting | About A$1,800 (15% of Horntech's A$12,000 example; the whole content phase) | Horntech | Optional, or supply your own |
| Photography, payment gateway, multilingual pages, migration with 301 redirects, speed and WCAG 2.2 AA work | No published Sydney range in these guides | None | Each its own line in the fixed quote |

Which budget fits which Sydney business

Affordable web design in Sydney: when a cheap site is enough, and when it isn’t
Sydney Website Builder sells one landing page for A$495, up to 5 pages for A$995 and up to 10 for A$1,995, with mobile layouts, local SEO set-up and contact forms. For many sole traders that is enough.
When a A$495–1,995 package is fine
You need a handful of pages, nothing connected to other software, and you don't mind a template design. A plumber living on referrals and a Google Business Profile often needs just this.
What to check a budget package covers
- Custom design, or a template with your logo
- Who writes the copy
- Booking, CRM or payment integrations
- Redirects from an old site
- Whether the domain and hosting are in your name
- The monthly fee, and what happens if you stop paying it
Seven choices that cut any quote
- Supply your own copy and photos: about A$1,800 off Horntech's A$12,000 example.
- Use fewer unique templates.
- Choose the platform on purpose: WordPress is cheaper and self-editable; Next.js is faster with no plugins, but layout changes need a developer.
- Keep a phase-2 list.
- Reuse your logo and colours.
- Send feedback in one batch.
- Use the platform's own CMS.

Going offshore from Sydney: what you save and what can go wrong
We're an offshore team. Horntech prices offshore teams at A$1,500–6,000 against A$8,000–40,000+ for Sydney agencies; here is what we'd want a Sydney buyer to check before taking that saving, with each risk paired to its fix.
When a Sydney supplier is the better choice
If you need someone on site, weekly in-person workshops, a guaranteed 9am fix, or an Australian entity for procurement rules, choose a Sydney supplier. We can't offer those.
| Risk | What removes it |
|---|---|
| Vague scope, so the price grows | A written fixed scope with page list, features and revision rounds |
| Lock-in through accounts in the developer's name | Domain and code in your name; hosting in your account or on our plan, stated in the quote |
| Slow feedback across time zones | Staging updates, usually ready by your next morning; questions settled in the overlap or on WhatsApp |
| Uneven quality between teams | A portfolio and Google reviews to check: 4.9 stars from 76 reviews, Top Rated on Upwork, 200+ projects since 2017 |
| Paying ahead of the work | Milestone payments set out in the written quote |
| Talking to a salesperson, not the builder | Video calls with the founder and the person doing the work |
Want to test us first? Ask for a written scope; the fixed price comes before you pay anything. Longer engagements: working with Codingclave from Australia.

Working with us from Sydney: the actual hours
NSW daylight saving began on Sunday 4 October 2026, so our Monday to Saturday hours are now 3:30pm–12:30am AEDT: 1.5 hours of overlap (3:30–5pm) with a 9-to-5 Sydney day. When it ends on 4 April 2027, they become 2:30–11:30pm AEST, a 2.5-hour overlap.
| Sydney time (AEDT) | Your day | Our status | What happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon–Fri 9:00am–3:30pm | Working | Offline (night in India) | You review staging and reply on WhatsApp |
| Mon–Fri 3:30pm–5:00pm | Working | Online: 1.5 hours of overlap | Calls, reviews, quick decisions |
| Mon–Fri 5:00pm–12:30am | After hours | Online | Evening calls, WhatsApp replies, build continues |
| Saturday 3:30pm–12:30am | Weekend | Online | Calls after the shop or site shuts |
| Sunday | Weekend | Closed | Answered from 3:30pm Monday |
Send feedback over breakfast and we pick it up from 3:30pm; updates are usually on staging by your next morning. Saturdays run until 12:30am, which suits tradies and hospitality owners. If you need morning calls, a Sydney supplier will suit you better.

What a fair Sydney website quote should include, and who should own what
Quote checklist
- Fixed AUD price, and whether GST is included
- Page list, with unique templates counted
- Features: forms, bookings, integrations
- Revision rounds
- Milestones and the amount due at each (30/40/30 is a common split)
- Hosting terms and renewal price
- Who owns domain, hosting, code and content
- Post-launch bug-fix window
- Exit and handover clause
- Timeline, and what you supply by when
Ownership checklist
auDA's licensing rules require an Australian presence, such as an ABN, ACN or Australian trade mark, for a .com.au, so register it to your business, never the developer's. These belong under your login:
- Domain registrar
- Hosting account, or written terms for leaving the developer's plan
- Git repository
- CMS admin
- Google Business Profile
- Analytics and Search Console
Red flags
- Domain registered in the developer's name
- 'Unlimited revisions' with no page list
- 100% of the price up front
- Hosting you can't move without the developer
- No written scope
Run every quote through these lists, ours included. For a second opinion, pick 'Second opinion on a quote I've received' in the quote form.

What a Sydney website costs per month and per year after launch
Keen To Design puts running costs at about A$1,500–3,000 a year for a A$5,000 site; Horntech's yearly minimum is A$2,500–5,000 and Creadiv's small-business figure A$500–2,500. Hosting spreads by what's bundled: A$10–25 a month is bare shared hosting, while Devout's A$40–150 usually includes managed updates and backups.
Is SEO included in the build price?
Usually only the basics: titles, headings, a sitemap, fast pages and redirects. Ongoing SEO is a separate retainer, A$400–1,500 a month for a Sydney small business (Devout Digital). See Sydney SEO and marketing costs and SEO across Australia.
| Cost | Range | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| .com.au domain | A$10–15 a year; A$15–30; A$25–45 | Keen; Whatsthedamage; Sydney Website Builder | Register it to your ABN |
| Hosting | A$10–25 a month; A$15–150; A$40–150 | Sydney Website Builder; Whatsthedamage; Devout | The tier explains the spread |
| Care plan (updates, backups, small fixes) | A$50–300 a month | Whatsthedamage | Someone must apply updates |
| SEO retainer | A$400–1,500 a month | Devout Digital | Optional |
| Total running costs | About A$1,500–3,000 a year for a A$5,000 site; A$2,500–5,000 minimum; A$500–2,500 | Keen; Horntech; Creadiv | Depends on hosting and care plan |
| Codingclave hosting and support | A$80–A$240 a month | Our price list | Optional; host anywhere |

Need an app as well as a website?
An app is a second project with its own budget: two app stores to pass, their review rules, and testing on real phones. First ask whether customers would install it. If they mostly book, order or check your hours, a fast mobile site handles that with no store listing and no US$99 Apple fee each year.
If an app still makes sense:
- Software Co's 2026 guide prices a cross-platform MVP built in Sydney at A$40,000–85,000, and one built offshore in India at A$12,000–35,000.
- Our fixed price for a cross-platform app covering both stores is A$6,900–A$43,000, set in writing before you pay.
- Website or app, if it makes substantially automated decisions with personal information that could significantly affect people, a business the Privacy Act covers must explain them in its privacy policy from 10 December 2026 (OAIC).
Before you brief anyone, see what app developers in Sydney charge, compared.
