Quick answer
What does a tradie website cost in Australia once you add two years of running costs?
With us, the entry point is A$900 once for WordPress or A$1,200 for a custom build. Keep hosting and the domain on your own accounts and nothing is owed to us monthly: at VentraIP's A$11 a month, that entry WordPress site comes to A$1,164 over 24 months, plus the domain. Add our optional A$80–A$240 plan and the 24-month total starts at A$2,820. The lowest published route we found is Tradify's A$19-a-month add-on (ex GST), which needs a paid Tradify plan. At the top end, Websites For Tradies' rental example of $400 + GST a month comes to $9,600 + GST over 24 months by our sum.
- Build fee fixed in writing before any work starts
- No monthly fee to us unless you want the plan
- Live in 1–2 weeks (WordPress) or 1–3 weeks (custom)
- Start with a free written check of your current site and Google profile

What a homeowner checks on a tradie website before ringing
Homeowners judge a trade site on a phone, usually standing next to the problem. Someone with a tripped safety switch rings whichever result settles three doubts fastest: licensed, covers my suburb, reachable now. Referrals check you the same way.
| Screen position | What sits there | Why it wins the call |
|---|---|---|
| Pinned to the bottom edge | Call and WhatsApp buttons that stay put while the page scrolls | One thumb rings you from anywhere on the page |
| Top strip | Licence line in the format your state asks for | Answers 'are they licensed?' before it's asked |
| First headline | Your trade plus the suburbs you cover, in plain words | The caller knows you come to their street |
| Under the headline | A 'from' price or call-out fee | Sets money expectations and filters out tyre-kickers |
| First scroll | Recent job photos captioned with the suburb, and a link to your live Google rating | Nearby real work beats stock images |
| Quote section | Name, phone, suburb and job, plus photo upload | A photo of the unit's label tells you which part to bring |
Use that order as a checklist when you compare trade website examples, then open finished builds on our work page to judge our design and code standard.

What websites for tradies cost over 24 months, not just at launch
Of six specialist tradie web agencies we checked on 6 Oct 2026, two publish a build price, and neither shows hosting or a two-year total. Here every option sits on the same 24-month footing, in each provider's own GST wording.
Rent versus own
Before signing any rental, ask what happens to the pages and domain the month you stop paying. Our own top figure needs the same honesty: a A$4,300 WordPress build with our top plan comes to A$10,060 over 24 months, more than that $9,600 + GST rental example. The case for a build is that the site is yours and the plan is optional, not that it always costs less.
Where the domain and hosting can sit
On registrar and hosting accounts billed to you, with us added as a user, so skipping the plan holds nothing back. Domain and hosting options are broken down on our website development page.
| Option | Build | Ongoing | 24-month view | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceScale | $1,490 + GST for a single page; $2,990 multi-page (GST wording unclear) | 'No monthly fees'; hosting, domain and SSL costs not stated | Build fee plus unstated hosting and domain | ServiceScale |
| Websites For Tradies | $1,750 + GST, paid once | Hosting billed monthly, figure not published; domain yearly | Can't be totalled from its page | Websites For Tradies |
| Rental model (Websites For Tradies' own example) | None | $400 + GST a month | $9,600 + GST (our sum of their monthly example) | Websites For Tradies |
| Tradify Instant Website | No build fee | A$19 a month ex GST, on top of a Tradify plan (Lite: A$48 per user a month ex GST) | A$456 ex GST for the add-on alone; A$1,608 ex GST with one Lite user (our sums) | Tradify pricing |
| ServiceM8 Website & Email | Listed on all plans, 'fees apply' | Fee not shown on the pricing page | Ask ServiceM8 before you count on it | ServiceM8 pricing |
| Codingclave, WordPress | A$900–A$4,300, fixed in writing | Your own hosting (VentraIP A$11–A$18.50 a month) or our optional A$80–A$240 plan, hosting included | Self-managed: A$1,164–A$4,744. With our plan: A$2,820–A$10,060. Domain extra either way | Our published price; hosting figures on our website development page |
| Codingclave, custom build | A$1,200–A$6,900, fixed in writing | The same two choices | Self-managed: A$1,464–A$7,344. With our plan: A$3,120–A$12,660. Domain extra either way | Our published price |
Cheap websites for tradies, honestly: Tradify's A$19 add-on is the lowest published figure, and can suit a sole trader in year one who doesn't need suburb pages.
Send your trade and suburbs for a fixed build figure and your 24-month total.

Tradie website builder, WordPress or a custom build: which fits your crew
Three routes are open: the builder bundled with your job app, a DIY builder such as Wix or Squarespace, or a paid build. The best website builder for tradies matches your crew size, your suburbs and how many evenings you'll give it.
| Option | Suits | Where it runs out | What you own |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tradify Instant Website (A$19 a month add-on, ex GST) | A sole trader already quoting and invoicing in Tradify | Limited layout, no suburb pages | A page tied to the Tradify subscription |
| ServiceM8 Website & Email (fees apply) | A ServiceM8 shop wanting one listing-style page | The fee isn't published | Ask ServiceM8 what moves with you if you leave |
| DIY builders such as Wix or Squarespace | A handy owner with evenings free | You write the copy, do the SEO and keep it current | Your account, on the builder's platform |
| WordPress build (A$900–A$4,300) | Most crews of 1 to 20 | Plugins need regular updates | Domain, hosting and site files on your accounts |
| Custom build (A$1,200–A$6,900) | Crews wanting job-app API links and very fast pages | Bigger upfront spend; content editing agreed in the quote | Code ownership set out in the signed agreement |
WordPress websites for tradies earn their keep once you want suburb pages, your own form and room to grow; the longer comparison is on WordPress development.

hipages, Airtasker or your own site: weighing it up as the tradie
Homeowners post jobs on hipages, Airtasker and Service.com.au. So is hipages good for tradies? It can fill a quiet fortnight, but every lead there is rented, not owned.
| Question | Your site + Google profile | Lead platforms |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns the customer | You: calls and forms come straight to your phone or job app | The platform, which passes jobs on under its own terms |
| Cost model | A fixed build, plus optional upkeep | Subscriptions and/or lead credits; check the current rate card |
| Shared leads | Only you see the enquiry | hipages tells homeowners they can get 'up to 3 free quotes' |
| Reviews | Stay on a Google profile in your name | Sit on your platform account |
Use both. Let a platform plug gaps in the diary while your site and reviews build, judge it on cost per won job rather than per lead, and steer repeat customers to a channel you own.

Your licence number on the website: what WA, VIC, SA, NSW and QLD actually require
It's the line careful homeowners check first, and in Queensland leaving it off can cost a company up to $30,222. All five states below publish rules on licence details in trade advertising; WA's electrical guideline and Victoria's rules name web pages outright.
Where we put it
As live text in the footer of every page, beside the quote form and in your Google profile description. A number that only sits in a logo image isn't enough; people need to read it on screen. Licensed in two states? Both numbers show.
Cross-border crews
This table is our national summary. Working both sides of the Murray? See the NSW and VIC licence section on our Albury–Wodonga page. Queensland crews can use the QBCC website checklist on our Townsville page.
| State and trade | What the ad must show | Covers | Penalty (where published) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NSW building and specialist trades | Licensee name, licence number with category of work, and a business phone number | Residential building work over $5,000, plus specialist work of any value: electrical, plumbing, draining, gasfitting, air conditioning and refrigeration | Not stated on the regulator's page | NSW Government |
| QLD, QBCC licensees | Licensed name (a trading name only alongside it), 'licensed under the QBCC Act' and the licence number, 'easily legible and reasonably prominent' | Advertising generally; hi-vis shirts and vests are exempt | 35 penalty units for an individual ($6,044 at the $172.70 unit value from 1 July 2026); QBCC lists $30,222 for a company | QBCC; QLD penalty unit regulation 2026 |
| WA electrical contractors | EC licence number, 'conspicuously displayed', e.g. EC 004700 (leading zeros optional), at least half the size of the ad's largest lettering | Every advertisement, web pages, business cards, vehicle signage and letterheads included (Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991, reg 45(1)) | Not stated in the guideline | Building and Energy guideline |
| WA building service contractors (builders, painters) | Registration number | Any advertising of availability for prescribed building services (Building Services (Registration) Act 2011, s8) | Up to $5,000 for an individual; up to five times that for a company (Sentencing Act 1995) | Building and Energy bulletin IB 029, July 2013 |
| VIC registered domestic builders | Full name and registration number(s), clearly legible | Advertising and written offers for domestic building work, including webpages and social media (Building Act 1993 ss169H–169I) | Not stated in the summaries | MBAV summary; the Building and Plumbing Commission replaced the VBA on 1 July 2025, so confirm on bpc.vic.gov.au |
| SA building work contractors | Name or registered business name, plus licence number | Building-work ads (Building Work Contractors Act 1995); customers check the number on the CBS register. Plumbers, gas fitters and electricians register under a separate 1995 Act | Not stated on the regulator's page | Consumer and Business Services |
| TAS, ACT and NT; QLD electrical; WA plumbing and gas; VIC plumbing and electrical | Not covered on this page yet | Check with your regulator | — | Your regulator |
Send your state and licence type; we'll set the line to match before launch.

Quote forms that land in ServiceM8, Tradify, Fergus or Jobber
An enquiry sitting in an inbox while you're under a house goes cold. A website request can reach your job app three ways: the app's own booking or enquiry form embedded, our form posted into its API, or email and SMS. Your plan decides which are open.
| App | What the website can send in | Plan needed (AUD) | SMS and card notes | Confirm before signing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceM8 | Online Bookings embed on every plan, Free included; our own form into the API from Starter up | Free $0 (1 user, 30 jobs a month), Starter $29 (unlimited users, 50 jobs), Growing $79 (150), Premium $149 (500), Premium Plus $349 (1,500+); prices include GST | Texts a month: Starter 100+, Growing 300+, Premium 1000+, Premium Plus 3,000+; extras 10c each, Free 10c per SMS. Card fees 1.89% + 30c (Free) down to 1.19% + 30c (Premium Plus). The plan grid lists Branded SMS on Premium and Premium Plus | Your monthly job count, and Branded SMS on your plan |
| Tradify | Branded enquiry form on Pro and above, not Lite; Instant Website as an A$19 a month add-on | Lite A$48, Pro A$52, Plus A$62 per user a month, ex GST, month-to-month | Check SMS and payment charges with Tradify | How many users you'll pay for |
| Fergus | Enquiry Management on both plans | Essentials $53 or Professional $77 a month, flat per account; timesheet users from $26 a month; GST not stated; no lock-in, 14-day trial | Check SMS and payment charges with Fergus | Which plans include API access; the pricing page doesn't say |
| No job app | Our form to email and SMS, photos attached | None | Text costs sit on your own account | Who gets the after-hours texts |
Jobber can be connected too; we publish no Jobber price, and the plan and access needed are confirmed for your account before you sign. Work after the booking is separate: AI automation covers job-to-invoice flows and Xero and MYOB integration covers accounting sync.
Tell us your app and plan; we'll confirm what connects.

Missed-call text-back and the 9pm burst-pipe enquiry
Phones ring out on roofs and in ceiling spaces. A missed call can trigger an automatic text, so the caller has your quote link before they try the next number.
How text-back works
Your mobile's conditional divert (no answer or busy) forwards the call to a cloud number on your own account, which texts the caller your business name and quote link. It needs a VoIP or call-diversion service that reports missed calls, so your setup is checked before we quote. Call and SMS charges sit on your account.
Who the text appears to come from
ServiceM8's plan grid lists Branded SMS, with your business name as sender, on Premium and Premium Plus; confirm with ServiceM8 for your plan. Otherwise the text comes from a number, so its first words should name your business.
Staying inside the spam rules
Keep the text factual: your name, the missed call and the quote link, no specials. Adding a caller to promotions is different: ACMA's spam rules expect consent, sender identification and an unsubscribe option on marketing messages. General information, not legal advice.
An after-hours triage form
Overnight, the form asks whether it's an emergency, a quote or a booking, and takes photos and the suburb, so the burst pipe gets a call before the gutter clean.
Text-back is quoted as a fixed line in your build, with the scope in your written quote. It can't make anyone book; it makes sure a missed caller hears back.

Google profile and suburb pages for a trade business, kept within Google’s rules
General Business Profile rules sit on our SEO services page. Three of them trip up tradies far more than shops or offices.
The home-based plumber
No shopfront, van parked in the driveway? Google's guidelines say a service-area business should hide its address and list the areas it serves. PO boxes, virtual offices and co-working desks aren't accepted as an address.
The two-hour drive limit
Your overall service area shouldn't stretch beyond about two hours' driving from your base. List the suburbs you really travel to, not the whole state.
Keyword-stuffed names
'Nguyen Electrical' is fine. 'Nguyen Electrical Emergency Electrician 24/7 Cheap' breaks the naming rules and risks a suspension.
| Suburb page type | Build it when | Skip it when |
|---|---|---|
| A suburb you work in often | You can show real jobs, photos and travel times from there | Only the suburb name would change |
| A thin 'doorway' page | Never | Always: name-swapped pages help nobody and put the whole site at risk |
Ranking and paid ads have their own pages: SEO services and Google Ads management, which includes trade click costs. Nobody can guarantee rankings or leads.

What plumbers, electricians, builders, landscapers and painters should publish
Every trade needs the call bar, licence line and quote form above; what changes is the job and the proof. Leave hourly rates off, since they swing with trade, state and job; a call-out fee and what it covers works better.
| Trade | What the customer is trying to do | Must-have on the page | Price line worth publishing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plumbers | Stop a leak, clear a drain, get hot water back tonight | After-hours button, hot water brands serviced, photo upload | Call-out fee and what it covers |
| Electricians | Find a fault, upgrade a switchboard, add an EV charger | Licence number up top (EC number in WA), switchboard and EV pages | 'From' price per power point or safety switch |
| Builders | Trust someone with a months-long renovation | Projects by type, build stages, how variations are priced | How quotes and variations work, rather than a figure |
| Landscapers | Picture the finished yard before committing | Before-and-after galleries, a design consult request | Design consultation fee, if you charge one |
| Painters | Judge finish quality and settle on colours | Close-ups, your colour process, and in WA the s8 registration number | 'From' price per room |
The same pattern suits roofers, air-con and refrigeration, concreters, tilers, fencers, pest control and cleaners. Worked scopes (examples, not client projects): a Joondalup electrician on our Perth page, a Parramatta electrician or plumber on our Sydney page and an Adelaide tradie's running costs.
Send your trade and we'll tell you what your page should lead with.

Built from Lucknow, reviewed after knock-off: hours, ownership and payment
Ashish Sharma started Codingclave Development LLP in 2017 and still leads delivery from Lucknow, India. With no Australian office, phone line or ABN, we couldn't hold a .com.au even if we wanted to, so yours is registered to your business and stays there. Our WhatsApp number starts +91; messages, photos and voice notes travel over data like any other chat.
Message at smoko or knock-off
Send changes when you down tools; they're worked on in your afternoon and evening, and next morning you check the staging link on your phone, signing off page by page. A test quote lands in your job app before launch.
Reviews you can check
★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), about three times the count the specialist tradie agencies we checked show, plus 200+ projects since 2017 and Top Rated on Upwork: see our reviews page. None is presented as an Australian trade reference.
Who owns what
The .com.au, hosting and analytics are in your name, and your Google profile lists you as Owner, so a suspension appeal comes to you. Code and content ownership is written into the signed agreement; our Australia overview explains copyright assignment.
Payment and support
A fixed written quote comes before any work. Payment methods and split, the bug-fix period and reply times are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign. After launch, take the optional A$80–A$240 monthly plan or self-manage.
When we’re not the right fit
If you want someone to walk the site with you, a voice on an Australian number at your 7am start, or an Australian entity on the contract, choose a studio near you. Our website development page covers when that's the better call.
| Where you are | Our hours in your time | If you knock off about 3:30pm |
|---|---|---|
| Perth and the rest of WA | 12:30pm–9:30pm AWST | Three hours while you're on site, then the evening |
| Darwin and the Top End | 2:00pm–11:00pm ACST | From smoko, then the evening |
| Queensland, which keeps standard time | 2:30pm–11:30pm AEST | An hour before knock-off, then the evening |
| Adelaide, the rest of SA and Broken Hill | 3:00pm–12:00am ACDT | Half an hour before, then the evening |
| NSW (except Broken Hill), VIC, ACT and TAS | 3:30pm–12:30am AEDT | All after knock-off |
