Overview

We aren't in Geelong. Codingclave works from Lucknow, India, and comes online at 3:30pm AEDT, around the time a tradie knocks off, until 12:30am. Further down, the published prices of nine first-page Geelong options sit side by side.

Quick answer

How much does a website cost in Geelong?

Published Geelong prices in October 2026 put a small-business website at roughly $1,500–$6,000 and custom agency builds at $6,000–$15,000, while five of the nine first-page results publish no price at all. Phil Kurth lists Rapid Sites from $1,500 plus $99 a month and custom WordPress at $7,000–$15,000. Pixeld charges $6,000–$15,000 over 12 monthly instalments and says standard sites take 6–8 weeks. Our business sites cost A$1,200–A$6,900 and take 1–3 weeks; send any quote and we'll price the same scope. Whoever you shortlist, compare what you'll have paid after 12 months.

  • Fastest stated builds: 1–3 weeks (Geelong Web Design and us); agencies quote 6–20+ weeks
  • Most common agency band: $6,000–$15,000 (Pixeld; Phil Kurth's custom WordPress)
  • Year one with us on WordPress, care included: A$1,860–A$7,180; build only from A$900
  • No price published: Chromatix, Reveler, GOOP, Choc Chip and webdesigngeelong.au

Geelong web design prices side by side (checked 6 October 2026)

How we checked. On 6 October 2026 we searched Google's Australian results (google.com.au, Australian settings) and read the page each first-page result ranks with. '+ GST' appears only where a provider prints it. Bark's Geelong page returned an error when opened, so its figures are the ones Google displayed that day.

Where a Geelong option beats us. Geelong Web Design's $500 floor sits below our A$900 WordPress starting price, and its 1–3 week turnaround is the same as ours. If you need a handful of pages on the smallest possible spend, ask them first exactly what that $500 covers.

About the $15,000 ceiling. It covers standard business sites; Phil Kurth's larger projects and web apps sit outside it. Providers edit these pages, so recheck a figure on their own site.

Holding a Geelong quote now? Forward it, from this table or anywhere else, and we'll come back with a written AUD price for the identical scope. Send the quote you hold on WhatsApp. For how quotes are put together nationally, read what a website costs in Australia; for the bigger market up the Princes Freeway, see our Melbourne page.

Year one in Geelong: three worked examples

A build is paid for once, while hosting, updates and backups bill every month. The honest comparison is how much has left your account by month 12, worked out only from figures each provider publishes. Add a .com.au domain to every option; Bark reports $25–$80 a year for one.

  • Phil Kurth’s Rapid Site with its monthly plan

$1,500 set-up + (12 × $99) = $2,688 for year one, with hosting and maintenance inside the monthly fee. Year two costs $1,188. His page doesn't say whether GST is in those figures, so ask.

  • A Pixeld standard site with management

At least $6,000 + (12 × $80) = $6,960 across year one. Both are minimums, so a larger site reaches $15,960 or more. With the build already split into 12 instalments, ask whether management bills alongside them or afterwards.

  • A Codingclave WordPress or custom site

A WordPress build costs A$900–A$4,300, with no monthly fee unless you choose care. Add care at A$80–A$240 a month and year one comes to A$1,860–A$7,180. A custom business site plus care: A$2,160–A$9,780. Year two is care only, or nothing if you host the site elsewhere.

Do Geelong quotes include GST? Mostly they don't say. Phil Kurth prints his SEO audit as $1,500 + GST, but no build price on the Geelong results states GST either way, so one quote can look 10% cheaper simply because GST was left off. Our AUD prices exclude GST: Codingclave is an overseas supplier and isn't registered for Australian GST, so compare ex-GST against ex-GST, and if your business is GST-registered, ask your accountant about the reverse charge.

WhatsApp us your quote and we'll run these sums for your scope.

Paying off a Geelong website monthly? Five questions to ask first

Two first-page Geelong providers sell websites on payment plans. Pixeld splits its $6,000–$15,000 builds into 12 monthly instalments, and Geelong Web Design offers instalments as well. Neither page shows the total paid, any fees, or who controls the site while the plan runs. Ask first:

5 questions to ask

  1. What's the total by the final instalment, against paying upfront, including any interest or fee?
  2. Whose name are the .com.au domain and hosting in during the plan?
  3. If I stop paying or switch provider, do I keep the files, or does the site go offline?
  4. Are hosting and updates bundled, and what do they cost from month 13?
  5. Is there a minimum term or exit fee, and which clause covers it?

How paying us works. We don't publish a standard split. Deposit, stages, payment method and whose name the domain and hosting go into are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign, beside the scope.

What 23,558 Geelong businesses need from a website (ABS, June 2025)

The ABS counted 23,558 actively trading businesses in the City of Greater Geelong at 30 June 2025, 3.0% more than a year before, so demand for sites keeps growing even as AI builders improve. Most are small: 15,162 (64.4%) employ nobody, and 13,697 (58.1%) turn over under $200,000. At that turnover a $6,000 website eats at least 3% of a year's revenue, which is where a WordPress band starting at A$900 earns its place. Next door, Surf Coast Shire holds another 4,543 businesses and Queenscliffe 356.

  • Allied health, disability and care providers

Clinic and NDIS sites should aim for WCAG 2.2 AA, with practitioner pages a nervous first-time client can follow and intake that keeps health details out of plain email forms, a privacy notice alongside. More on allied health clinic websites and NDIS provider websites.

  • Real estate and rentals

Buyers browse the portals, so an agency site pays its way through vendor appraisal requests; see real estate agency websites.

  • Bellarine and Surf Coast hospitality

A café in Drysdale or a stay in Ocean Grove must update menus, rooms and hours from a phone in summer. See restaurant and café websites and accommodation websites.

Large employers shape B2B work. The City of Greater Geelong's list of major Barwon-region employers includes Barwon Health, Deakin University, WorkSafe Victoria, the TAC and the NDIA. Suppliers to organisations of that size are often asked for a capability statement, so a B2B site should carry a downloadable PDF and a plain services page.

Armstrong Creek, Charlemont, Lara: service-area pages for Geelong’s growth suburbs

Greater Geelong had 295,052 residents at 30 June 2025, 2.2% more than a year earlier, and the new estates on the southern and northern edges are growing several times faster than the established suburbs. Each new street means fencing, solar, landscaping and cleaning jobs.

  • What earns a suburb its own page

Jobs you have finished there, with your own photos; your travel radius and call-out fee; and answers to local questions, such as estate design rules for a new block in Armstrong Creek.

  • What Google treats as a doorway page

One paragraph cloned with the suburb swapped: Newtown, Belmont, Highton, Grovedale, Waurn Ponds, Leopold, Corio. Google's spam policies class near-identical pages like these as doorway pages.

  • Where to start

Set your Google Business Profile service area to the suburbs you genuinely cover, then write one page per area, starting with the one that sends the most jobs. Tradie quote forms with photo upload can be scoped into a business-site build.

Torquay and the Surf Coast. Surf Coast Shire is a separate council with 4,543 businesses and 40,265 residents, and Torquay alone had 26,581 people in June 2025, up 0.8%. Surf, café and holiday-rental businesses there trade with the seasons, so hours, rates and availability must be editable from a phone. A Torquay business usually deserves its own site, not a page tucked inside a Geelong one.

Selling online from Geelong: Shopify and WooCommerce stores

Of the Geelong results, only Pixeld gives an e-commerce build time, and it is 10–14 weeks. Bark reports Geelong online stores at $3,200–$28,000 or more, and Geelong Web Design places complex e-commerce at the top of its $500–$5,000 range. Our stores cost A$2,400–A$19,500 and take 2–6 weeks.

  • Shopify

Suits a retailer happy to pay Shopify a monthly plan fee for hosting, security and checkout. See Shopify development.

  • WooCommerce

Suits a shop already on WordPress that wants control of its hosting and plugins; updates become your job or a care plan's.

  • What moves the price

How many products and variants you sell, whether an existing catalogue has to be imported, shipping rules for Victorian versus interstate orders, and links into stock or accounting software. Shopify Payments, Stripe and PayPal are the usual gateways; which one your store uses is agreed with you in writing before the build starts. More on e-commerce development.

Website maintenance and website support in Geelong: what a care plan should cover

Leave a site untouched for a year and it collects stale plugins, an expired licence and a backup nobody has tried to restore. A care plan worth paying for covers updates checked on the live site, off-site backups with a tested restore, uptime monitoring, security patches, small edits such as opening hours, and a register of licence renewal dates.

Switching from another Geelong provider. We can take over a site somebody else built. Before anything is moved, gather:

  1. The domain registrar login, plus confirmation the .com.au is registered to your business
  2. Access to the hosting account or cPanel
  3. A complete backup of the site files and the database
  4. Licence keys for premium plugins and themes
  5. Logins for Google Analytics, Search Console and your Business Profile
  6. A copy of the current DNS and email records

Website builder, web designer or web developer in Geelong: which you need

Three questions settle it: how many pages the site needs, who will edit them, and whether the site has to talk to other software.

  • Stay on Wix or Squarespace if…

you need three to five pages you'll edit yourself, with nothing connected to other systems. A Bellarine café with a menu, hours and a map can sit on a builder for years; set twelve months of plan fees against a one-off A$900 build.

  • Move to WordPress if…

the builder's SEO controls are holding you back, you want a blog with real depth, or you need a booking or quote plugin it can't run. A WordPress website from us is A$900–A$4,300 and takes 1–2 weeks.

  • Hire a developer if…

you need client logins, a portal, or a link into your job-management or accounting system. That is development work in Next.js or Laravel, quoted as custom software rather than as a website.

Building for a UNESCO City of Design: the quality bar we test Geelong sites against

Geelong was named Australia's first UNESCO Creative City of Design on 31 October 2017. We have no link to that designation or to the City of Greater Geelong. These are the measurable targets we build and test against:

  • Accessibility: WCAG 2.2 Level AA
  • Core Web Vitals: LCP at or under 2.5 s, INP at or under 200 ms, CLS at or under 0.1
  • Phone first: every layout designed at phone width before desktop
  • A staging link: you look over and approve the site there before it goes live

Technical SEO set-up is part of the build: page titles, schema markup, an XML sitemap and Search Console verification. Ongoing work sits under SEO services.

Nobody can promise rankings or leads, and that includes us. What you can check instead: open our work on your phone and judge the speed yourself, and read our ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews) on the reviews page. We're also Top Rated on Upwork, with 200+ projects delivered since 2017.

No Geelong office: how a remote team works on Geelong time

Ashish Sharma founded Codingclave Development LLP in 2017, and delivery is still founder-led from Lucknow, India. We have no Geelong office, make no on-site visits, and hold no Australian ABN or company. You work with Ashish and the team over WhatsApp (+91 92771 84741), email and video call. Geelong Web Design sells 'no overseas outsourcing', and preferring that is fair; this is what the alternative looks like.

  • Suits tradies

Brief us once you're off the tools at 5pm, while we're online until 12:30am, and check the evening's progress next morning.

  • Choose a Geelong agency instead when…

you want face-to-face workshops, someone on site for photography or filming, an ABN-holding Australian supplier for a council or government panel, or you'd simply rather buy from a business down the road. Pixeld, Choc Chip and GOOP list Geelong street addresses; we can't match that. The rest of a build works fine over WhatsApp and video.

  • What you own

Ask every provider, us included, to put ownership in writing: domain, hosting, code and admin logins. Our handover and intellectual-property terms sit in the agreement you see before signing.

Ask Ashish directly

Ask on WhatsApp

What is a reasonable price for website design in Geelong?

Published Geelong figures for a small-business site cluster around $1,500–$6,000: Phil Kurth's Rapid Sites start at $1,500, Geelong Web Design lists $500–$5,000, and Bark reports $960–$4,800. Custom agency builds run $6,000–$15,000, which is Pixeld's standard range and Phil Kurth's custom WordPress tier. Our custom business sites are A$1,200–A$6,900. A reasonable quote also names the pages, the timeline and what you'll pay for hosting and care in year one.

How long does it take to build a website for a Geelong small business?

Stated build times on the Geelong results run from days to four months. Geelong Web Design quotes 1–3 weeks with a first draft in 2–3 days, Bark reports 4–8 weeks as typical, Pixeld says 6–8 weeks for a standard site, and Chromatix gives 12–16 weeks for custom builds. Our WordPress sites take 1–2 weeks and custom business sites 1–3 weeks. Content is the usual hold-up, so have your text, photos and licence details ready.

Is website design cheaper in Geelong than in Melbourne?

Bark reports about $800 for Geelong against a $1,000 national average and gives no Melbourne figure, so that number says nothing direct about Melbourne. Our Melbourne page cites Melbourne designers publishing roughly A$3,500–A$12,000 depending on business type, which overlaps the $1,500–$15,000 spread on the Geelong results. Because we work remotely, our A$1,200–A$6,900 business-site band is the same whichever of the two cities you're in.

Is it safe to hire an overseas web designer for a Geelong business?

Check four things with any remote provider: a written scope and price before you pay, payments staged against work you can see, the domain and hosting registered to your business, and reviews you can read. With us, payment stages are in your written quote, you approve the site on a staging link before launch, and we hold ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews). We hold no ABN, so if a council or government panel requires an Australian supplier, choose a Geelong agency.

Do I own my website while I'm paying it off in instalments?

The contract decides that, not the price. Before you sign a payment plan, find out whose name the .com.au domain and the hosting account are in, whether you keep the files if you stop paying or switch provider, and whether hosting is folded into each instalment. Neither Pixeld nor Geelong Web Design publishes those terms, so ask for them in writing. We write the ownership and handover terms into your agreement before you pay anything.

How much does website maintenance cost in Geelong?

On the Geelong results, Pixeld's management plans start at $80 a month and Phil Kurth's Rapid Site plan is $99 a month, while Bark reports maintenance at $150–$1,000 a month. Our optional care plan is A$80–A$240 a month. Whichever you pick, the plan should cover updates, off-site backups with a tested restore, uptime monitoring, security patches, small edits and a record of licence renewal dates.

Will a new website or a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

It can if old page addresses simply disappear. Before launch, map every existing page to its new address with 301 redirects, keep the page titles that already bring visitors, submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console, then watch for crawl errors over the following weeks. Technical SEO set-up comes with our builds. What nobody can do, us included, is guarantee rankings or leads after a launch.

How much does an online store cost in Geelong?

Bark reports Geelong e-commerce builds at $3,200–$28,000 or more, Geelong Web Design puts complex e-commerce at the top of its $500–$5,000 range, and Pixeld allows 10–14 weeks for a store. Our Shopify or WooCommerce stores cost A$2,400–A$19,500 and take 2–6 weeks. The figure moves with product count, catalogue import, shipping rules and links to stock or accounting software. On Shopify, budget for the monthly plan paid to Shopify as well.
