Website design Townsville prices, as each studio prints them (6 Oct 2026)

What should you pay a website designer in Townsville? The fairest yardstick is what local studios print on their own pages. On 6 Oct 2026 we opened each page ranking for "web design Townsville", plus Mitchell Creative in Garbutt, and recorded only what each one publishes.

Two studios show a build price. Above & Beyond in Aitkenvale lists a one-page WordPress site at $1,500 including GST, with help on the words, set-up and twelve months of hosting, or six payments of $275. DP Web Design in Kirwan lists base builds from $2,420: 25–30 hours is typical, billed at $110 an hour, and its page doesn't say whether GST is included.

The rest ask you to enquire. Bark is a marketplace rather than a designer, so one request there reaches several providers, any of whom may call you.

Who builds it, what sits in your name, and how paying works

If a team in India is building your Townsville site, check these first. Our wider approach is on the Australia page.

  • Who does the work

Ashish Sharma started Codingclave Development LLP in Lucknow, India, in 2017 and still leads every build. There's no Townsville office, Australian phone line or ABN; you reach us on WhatsApp at +91 92771 84741, by email or over video. Check the record before you message: 200+ projects since 2017, a 4.9 rating from 76 Google reviews, Top Rated status on Upwork, and past builds on our work page.

  • What sits in your name

auDA only registers a .com.au to a business with an Australian presence, such as an ABN, and that presence is yours, so the domain goes on your registration. Your Google Business Profile and analytics belong in your name too. Who holds the hosting account depends on whether you take our optional care, and that is confirmed in writing for your business before you sign, with the handover list of code, content and logins.

  • How paying works

A fixed AUD figure, the page list and the exclusions come in writing before anything is signed. The deposit, any instalments and when the balance falls due are confirmed in writing for your business at the same point, so if you'd like to spread the cost the way Above & Beyond's $275-a-month option does, say so at the start. Card details never go in a chat message.

  • How you judge the work before launch

Every page goes up on a private staging link first, and nothing goes live until you've approved it on your phone.

What $1,000, $2,420 and $6,000 buy, against the Australian average

Across Australia, agencies usually charge A$3,000–A$10,000 for a 5–10 page small-business site and A$750–A$7,500 for a one-pager, per the sources on our national website cost guide. Townsville's published figures fall inside those ranges.

Hours explain the gap between Bark's $1,000 average and DP's $2,420. At DP's $110 rate, $2,420 is 22 hours, its typical 25–30 hours comes to $2,750–$3,300 by our arithmetic, and $1,000 buys roughly nine. A $1,000 job is often a template with your logo dropped in, which may suit a sole trader testing demand if the quote says so.

What each Townsville budget usually covers, recorded 6 Oct 2026 (figures are the sources' own; the descriptions are our general guide)

After launch: what year one and year two cost for three Townsville businesses

The Townsville pages we read on 6 Oct 2026 stop at the build. Above & Beyond includes the first year of hosting but didn't list the renewal, and DP Web Design prices no hosting, so year two can't be worked out from what's online. Ask any designer for that figure in writing.

Our parts are kept separate rather than summed: the build band, then optional care at A$80–A$240 a month for hosting, backups, updates, monitoring and small edits. That's also our answer to what a website costs per month. Try other page counts on our website cost calculator.

Three Townsville scenarios in our AUD bands, no GST added, recorded 6 Oct 2026. Domain renewal and payment fees are extra.

If one page with hosting bundled is all you need, Above & Beyond's $1,500 is hard to beat. On the build alone our WordPress band starts lower, at A$900 with no GST, and our care is optional because it covers edits and monitoring, not just hosting. The domain renewal is paid by you to your own registrar.

Which size of website fits your Townsville business

Townsville had 13,122 trading businesses in June 2025, up from 12,672 two years earlier, according to the ABS. That's about 450 more firms chasing the same local searches, and the mix tells you more than the total about how much site to buy.

  • Sole traders and tradies

More than half of Townsville's businesses, 7,408 or 56%, employ nobody, and construction leads every category with 2,529. For most of these owners a one-pager or small WordPress site is the right size: services, suburbs covered, job photos, a call button and licence details. QBCC licence holders should read the checklist below first.

  • Health, allied health and NDIS

Health care and social assistance businesses rose 15% in two years, from 1,341 to 1,546, and the sector employs more Townsville people than any other: 17.5% of working residents at the 2021 Census. Clinics and NDIS providers usually need practitioner profiles, service pages and referral or booking forms; see our NDIS provider websites and allied health clinic websites pages.

  • Property and rentals

Rental, hiring and real estate accounts for 1,430 businesses, and Lavarack Barracks in Murray, one of Australia's largest Army bases, brings families on postings who are new to the city. Plain-English guides to suburbs such as Douglas or North Ward serve them better than another listings grid. More on our real estate agency websites page.

  • Cafés, tours and accommodation, Magnetic Island included

Accommodation and food services make up 579 businesses. What counts is a current menu or room list, hours that match your Google listing, and a booking button that works on a phone. See our restaurant and café websites and accommodation websites pages.

  • Professional services and transport

Professional services (1,373 businesses) and transport (1,045) usually need fewer pages than owners expect: what you do, proof you've done it, and a quote form that captures the job details.

QBCC rules for a Townsville builder’s or tradie’s website

Does a Queensland builder's or tradie's website need a QBCC licence number? Yes, if you're licensed. The Queensland Building and Construction Commission counts a website as advertising, and construction is Townsville's largest business category, so this is the first thing we check on a trade site:

  • Websites are advertising. So are social media pages and online directory listings.
  • Show your QBCC licensed name, your licence number and a statement that you're licensed under the QBCC Act. The details must be easy to read and reasonably prominent.
  • A trading name can be used, but only alongside your QBCC licensed name.
  • Leave the QBCC logo off everything you produce to promote your business.
  • Unlicensed contractors must state their work-value limit, with wording such as "Cannot perform building work valued in excess of $3,300" ($0 for restricted work such as plumbing, gas fitting and fire protection).
  • Penalties: under section 54 of the QBCC Act, up to 35 penalty units, which QBCC puts at $6,044 for an individual and $30,222 for a company. Under section 53C, an unlicensed contractor who leaves out the value statement faces up to $17,270, or $86,350 for a company.

How we build it: your licensed name, number and licence statement sit in one editable site-wide field, so the footer, contact page and quote forms always agree, and at launch we match them to your Google Business Profile. More trade features are on our tradie websites page. This is general information, not legal advice; confirm the rules on QBCC's advertising page.

Send your licensed name and number and we'll show where they go.

Townsville studio or remote team: who wins which job

Do you need a Townsville-based web designer? For face-to-face work, yes; for most builds, no. Here's how we'd split it.

  • Choose Above & Beyond if one page is enough

Their $1,500 one-pager is the lowest all-in price we found published in Townsville, with first-year hosting included, and they have a street address in Aitkenvale.

  • Choose DP Web Design if you want hours in the bank

Prepaid support blocks run from 3 hours for $330 to 40 hours for $3,600, usable over five years, and the team says it never outsources. If keeping the spend in Townsville matters to you, that's a fair reason to pick them.

  • Choose a Townsville studio for in-person work

On-site photo shoots, staff workshops or dropping in during the day are things a remote team can't offer. Mitchell Creative in Garbutt, for example, lists photography and videography alongside web design.

  • Where we fit

Multi-page sites, online stores, connections to software you already run, WhatsApp or AI enquiry handling, and a fixed AUD figure in writing before you sign. If you need more than one page, a written fixed price and calls after you've knocked off, that's where we're usually the better buy.

  • When we’re online

Our day runs 2:30pm–11:30pm AEST, Monday to Saturday. Neither Queensland nor India moves its clocks, so the 2:30–5pm overlap with your working day holds all year. A message sent from the ute at 6am is waiting when we come online that afternoon, and an evening call can follow once you're off the tools. More on why Queensland stays on AEST all year.

Getting found in Kirwan, North Ward or Bushland Beach without doorway pages

People searching "SEO Townsville" usually want local customers to find them before a competitor. These are the basics we set up during a build. Ongoing work is covered on our SEO services page and our Google Ads management page.

  • Name the suburbs you actually work in. An electrician covering Kirwan, Kelso, Douglas and Annandale should say so, with real jobs as examples; a café in South Townsville or a tour operator on Magnetic Island has a different footprint. One solid page beats twenty thin copies that only swap the suburb name for Aitkenvale, Mundingburra, Hermit Park or Bushland Beach.
  • Google Business Profile in your name, at your address, with hours, phone and categories that match the website exactly.
  • Plan for the wet season. An editable closure or update banner, Google Business Profile hours changed at the same moment, and a mobile site light enough to load on patchy data. Our Cairns wet-season notes go into more detail.
  • Budget honestly. Our SEO, Google Ads and marketing retainer runs A$990–A$9,800 a month, and any ad spend goes from you straight to Google. No agency, us included, can guarantee rankings or leads.

How it works

From voice note to launch: five steps for a Townsville build

Start on WhatsApp
  1. Send a link or a voice note

Message your current URL, or a voice note about the business, on WhatsApp. Not having a site yet is fine.

  2. A short call that fits your day

We talk in your mid-afternoon or after you've knocked off, so you aren't stepping off a job to take it.

  3. Your scope, written down

A fixed AUD figure, the payment schedule, the page list and the exclusions, all set out before you sign.

  4. Check it on your phone

Each page appears on a private staging link you can open from a job site or the couch, with your notes sent back on WhatsApp.

  5. Launch and handover

We launch, hand over every login, and check your Google Business Profile and, for trades, your QBCC details before calling it done.

What do Townsville web designers charge?

Of the studio pages we could check on 6 Oct 2026, Above & Beyond in Aitkenvale listed a one-page WordPress site at $1,500 including GST and first-year hosting, and DP Web Design in Kirwan listed base sites from $2,420 at $110 an hour, GST not stated. Most other Townsville studios quote on request. Our bands are A$900–A$4,300 for WordPress, A$1,200–A$6,900 for a business site and A$2,400–A$19,500 for a store, with no GST added.

How much does a website cost per month after it's live?

With us, optional care is A$80–A$240 a month and covers hosting, backups, updates, monitoring and small edits. The domain renewal is separate and paid by you to your own registrar, because the domain should sit in your name. Neither Above & Beyond nor DP Web Design showed an ongoing hosting price on 6 Oct 2026, so ask any designer for the year-two figure before you commit.

Do I need a web designer based in Townsville?

Not for most builds. A Townsville studio is the better pick for face-to-face meetings, on-site photo shoots or staff workshops. A remote team suits multi-page sites, stores, integrations and enquiry automation, especially if you want a fixed written figure and evening calls. We work from Lucknow, India, with no Townsville office; the section above says which jobs we'd send to a local agency.

Does a tradie's website in Queensland need a QBCC licence number?

Yes, if you're licensed. QBCC treats websites, social media and online directories as advertising, so show your licensed name, licence number and a statement that you're licensed under the QBCC Act, legibly and reasonably prominently. Leave the QBCC logo off. Unlicensed contractors must state their work-value limit. The checklist above lists the penalties; confirm the current rules on QBCC's advertising page.

How long does a website take to build in Townsville?

Published timelines vary a lot. Above & Beyond says a one-pager can go live in as little as seven business days after content and the first payment arrive, DP Web Design calls 1–3 weeks typical, and Digital Nomads HQ states 6–8 weeks from discovery. We estimate 1–2 weeks on WordPress, 1–3 weeks for a business site and 2–6 weeks for a store, and the agreed dates go into your written quote.

How does Townsville web design cost compare with the Australian average?

Australian agencies usually charge A$3,000–A$10,000 for a small-business site of five to ten pages, and A$750–A$7,500 for a one-pager, going by the published figures gathered on our national website development cost guide. Townsville's published prices sit inside those ranges: $1,500 for Above & Beyond's one-pager and from $2,420 for a DP Web Design base build. Page count and features move the price more than location does.

How much does SEO cost in Townsville, and can anyone guarantee rankings?

Our SEO, Google Ads and marketing retainer is A$990–A$9,800 a month, with any ad spend paid separately by you to Google. No one can promise you rankings or leads, and anyone who does is overselling. For most Townsville businesses the basics come first: a Google Business Profile at your own address, copy for the suburbs you really cover, and a fast mobile site.

What are the 7 C's of a website?

Context, content, community, customisation, communication, connection and commerce: seven points for testing any site. For a Townsville business, context means a layout that reads in bright sun on a phone; content is your real services and suburbs; community is reviews and photos of finished jobs; customisation puts your most-requested service first; communication is click-to-call and WhatsApp; connection links your Google Business Profile; commerce is the quote form, booking or store.
