Quick answer
What does a Canberra brochure website cost to build and keep running?
For a 5–8 page brochure site, budget A$3,000–A$8,000 with a Canberra studio (Clutch's estimate; the lowest published package is A$4,000 ex GST) or A$1,200–A$6,900 with us. Then add upkeep: Clutch puts it at A$150–A$2,000+ a month, against our optional A$80–A$240. We aren't registered for GST and add none, so a business that can't claim GST back pays our figure as written, while A$4,000 ex GST costs that business A$4,400.
- Clutch's Canberra hourly range: A$120–A$220; we quote fixed, never hourly
- Webtree Business: A$5,000–A$7,000 with 3 months' support, GST basis not stated
- WordPress with us: A$900–A$4,300, usually live in 1–2 weeks
- Most published Canberra figures don't state a GST basis
- Holding a Canberra quote? WhatsApp it for a second figure on the same pages

What Canberra web designers publish: price, GST basis, build time, upkeep
A Clutch "minimum" is the smallest project a firm will accept: a floor, not your price. "Ex GST" adds 10% for a business that can't claim it back; "not stated" means ask first.

Web design or web development in Canberra: what each line of a quote pays for
Web design is the layout, the page structure and how your services read on a phone. Web development is the build underneath: the editor, forms, bookings, integrations, speed and launch. Most Canberra pages we checked price the two as one number; this table separates the lines.
What A$1,200 gets you, and what moves it towards A$6,900
The bottom of the band is a short site on one layout: a few pages, your own words and photos, a contact form, and mobile and speed checks. The figure rises with page count, written copy if we draft it, forms or booking, integrations with a CRM, mailing list or calendar, and accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA, each listed in your scope.
Want to know where your site lands in the band? WhatsApp Ashish your page list.
Affordable web design in Canberra: what a lower price leaves out
A lower quote, from anyone, usually trades away a custom layout, professionally written copy, an accessibility check and a long support window. For a Tuggeranong sole trader who needs a phone number, a service list and a few photos online, that trade is often sensible. It stops making sense once the site must back up tenders, take bookings or explain a dozen services.
When it’s software, not a website
A client login, a document portal or anything that keeps records per user is an application. We scope it separately as custom software development, at A$9,800–A$98,000 over 6–16 weeks, rather than stretching a website quote.
| Line item | What it covers | Canberra figure (source) | Our band |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brochure design and build | 5–8 pages on a template, as Clutch defines it | A$3,000–A$8,000 (Clutch) | A$1,200–A$6,900 |
| WordPress site | A basic five-page site the owner edits | From A$4,000 ex GST (Josie Brown) | A$900–A$4,300 |
| Online store | Product pages, cart and checkout | From A$6,000 ex GST (Josie Brown) | A$2,400–A$19,500 |
| Hourly work | Changes outside an agreed scope | A$120–A$220 an hour (Clutch) | Fixed quote, no hourly rate |
| Upkeep | Hosting, updates, backups, small edits | A$150–A$2,000+ a month (Clutch) | A$80–A$240 a month |
| Government or custom build | Discovery, WCAG AA, security hardening, complex structure | A$40,000–A$200,000+ (Clutch) | Scoped as custom software, A$9,800–A$98,000; not like-for-like |

Two years of owning a Canberra brochure site: build plus upkeep
The monthly bill is the figure Canberra studios most often leave off the page. Studio Who and Webtree mention care or support without a price, and Josie Brown's pricing page mentions hosting and support plans but prices neither. Clutch is the only Canberra source with a monthly figure, and this table uses its lowest one, A$150 a month, for every Clutch row.
| Scenario | Build | Upkeep × 24 | Total | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clutch brochure estimate, lower end, A$150 a month | A$3,000 | A$3,600 | A$6,600 | Clutch |
| Clutch brochure estimate, upper end, A$150 a month | A$8,000 | A$3,600 | A$11,600 | Clutch |
| Josie Brown, basic five pages | A$4,000 ex GST | Plans mentioned, not priced | Can't be totalled | Pricing page |
| Webtree Business package | A$5,000–A$7,000 | 3 months included, then unpriced | Can't be totalled | Pricing page |
| Codingclave, lowest build, A$80 a month | A$1,200 | A$1,920 | A$3,120 | Our bands |
| Codingclave, highest build, A$80 a month | A$6,900 | A$1,920 | A$8,820 | Our bands |
Our A$240 plan (more edits each month) comes to A$5,760 over two years instead of A$1,920; both plans are optional. Clutch's upkeep reaches A$2,000+ a month, so its two totals are the cheapest case. Domain renewals and ad spend are excluded throughout.
Is A$5,000 too much for a small business website? Not by Canberra's published figures: it sits inside Clutch's A$3,000–A$8,000 brochure range and at the bottom of Webtree's Business package. If you hold a quote near that figure, WhatsApp it to Ashish and you'll get our figure for the same pages, with upkeep shown.

Canberra’s five biggest business sectors and the website each needs
Most Canberra businesses (58.4%) have no employees and another 28.9% employ one to four, so the owner usually runs the site. Those shares, and the sector rows below, come from the 2025 profile of Greater Canberra (ABS capital-city area GCCSA 8ACTE, 36,934 businesses). The ACT state count is a separate series: 37,785 trading on 30 June 2026, up 2.1% (ABS figures compiled by SEO Guys), so don't read the gap as growth.
| Sector | Businesses (share, change since 2021) | What the site usually needs | Our band | Read next |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Professional, scientific and technical services | 7,351 (19.9%, +16.4%) | Capability statement page, service pages written for buyers, an accessible enquiry form | A$1,200–A$6,900 | Selling to agencies |
| Construction | 6,795 (18.4%, +10.5%) | Licence details, service area, a quote form, finished-job photos | A$1,200–A$6,900, or WordPress A$900–A$4,300 | Websites for Australian tradies |
| Rental, hiring and real estate services | 3,635 (9.8%, change not shown) | Listings, appraisal requests, enquiries routed to the right person | Agency website A$1,200–A$6,900; website plus real estate CRM A$5,500–A$39,000 | Real estate agencies |
| Transport, postal and warehousing | 3,428 (9.3%, +38.6%) | Quote or booking requests, coverage pages, driver recruitment | A$1,200–A$6,900; dispatch tools as custom software, A$9,800–A$98,000 | Custom software |
| Health care and social assistance | 3,422 (9.3%, +29.3%) | Bookings, practitioner profiles, a privacy notice | A$1,200–A$6,900 site with booking links; clinic software A$6,900–A$51,000 or NDIS software A$7,900–A$49,000 if you need records or intake | Allied health clinics; NDIS providers |

Selling to Canberra agencies: capability statements, BuyICT and WCAG 2.2 AA
If your consultancy sells to an Australian Government agency, or to a prime contractor that does, the person reading your website is often vetting a supplier. Answer their procurement questions before your marketing ones.
A capability statement page as well as the PDF
List your ABN, your capabilities and short past-performance summaries you supply and are cleared to share. Keep the PDF for tender packs, and publish the same content as a page that works on a phone and with a screen reader.
Match your site to how you appear on BuyICT
BuyICT is the Digital Transformation Agency's marketplace for government ICT buying. If you trade there, describe your services on your own site in the same words, so a buyer checking both sees a match.
Write WCAG 2.2 AA into the scope
WCAG 2.2 is the current W3C accessibility standard. The DTA's Digital Service Standard points Australian Government services to WCAG 2.2 AA, and the Australian Human Rights Commission's 2025 guidelines on digital access treat the same level as the minimum for public and private providers alike. Ask your lawyer whether it binds you. In a scope it becomes testable: contrast, keyboard access, heading order, labelled fields and alt text, checked before launch.
Need WCAG 2.2 AA in the scope? A brochure site with a capability statement page fits our A$1,200–A$6,900 band, with the accessibility level written in. Send Ashish your page list on WhatsApp or use the quote form.

Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden, Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan: when district pages make sense
Customers often search by district: Braddon and the Inner North, Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden around the Phillip town centre, Tuggeranong, the newer Molonglo Valley, Fyshwick's trade and industrial strip, Kingston on the south side, and Queanbeyan over the NSW border.
The rule of thumb: real jobs, staff or a service area
Build a district page only for finished work, staff or a genuine service area there. A Fyshwick showroom page can carry opening hours and parking; a Gungahlin page can show jobs done in its suburbs. Pages that only swap the suburb name read as thin.
Queanbeyan sits in NSW
If you work both sides of the border, say so plainly and show the details customers on each side need, confirmed for your trade before launch. Builders and repairers can start with websites for Australian tradies.
Covering several Canberra suburbs? Send your trade, suburbs and services for a fixed price on a trade site.
District pages don’t buy a map position
Your place in Google Maps comes from your verified address and Google Business Profile. Pages like these help in the ordinary results underneath. More in SEO services in Australia.

Finding web designers in Canberra and comparing them on more than stars
Clutch lists 50+ Canberra firms with minimum project sizes and hourly rates, though most carry zero or one review. Google Maps shows designers with a Canberra address and their review counts. Canberra Daily's best-of list admits only firms averaging at least 4 out of 5 on Google and Facebook; read that as a floor, not a ranking (we aren't on it and don't seek a listing). To shortlist the best web designers in Canberra for your job, compare these:
| What to compare | Why it matters | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Price and GST basis | A$4,000 ex GST is A$4,400 to a business that can't claim GST; "low thousands" can't be compared | Pricing page or written quote |
| Build time in writing | Pages ranking for Canberra publish 6–8 and 6–12 weeks; most give none | A launch week in the scope |
| .com.au registrant | auDA requires an Australian presence, so your business should hold the domain | auDA licensing rules; your registrar account |
| ABN and street address | Shows who you'd contract with and where the work is done | ABN Lookup; the contact page |
| Support period and monthly cost | Clutch's Canberra range is A$150–A$2,000+ a month, and few studios price it | Care-plan terms in the quote |
| Review count, not just the average | A 5.0 from one review says little; most Clutch Canberra firms have 0–1 | Google Maps, Clutch |

Before you sign a Canberra website quote, including one from us
Each of these is cheaper to sort out before a deposit is paid than after.
Look up the ABN and ask where the work happens
Search the business on ABN Lookup and check it matches the name on the quote. Then confirm a street address and ask who will actually build the site, and from where. Remote work is common; the point is knowing who you are contracting with.
Who you’d be dealing with here
Codingclave Development LLP, founded in 2017 by Ashish Sharma in Lucknow, India. Ashish leads each project himself. We hold no ABN and have no Australian office or entity, so ABN Lookup won't find us and your contract is with the LLP. To check us instead: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews) on our reviews page, 200+ projects since 2017, Top Rated on Upwork, and our work. More on how we work with Australian businesses.
Register the .com.au in your own name
auDA's rules require an Australian presence to hold a .com.au, so your business is the registrant and the developer gets access you can withdraw.
Code, content and logins handed over at launch
The contract should say the code, written content, images you paid for and every login (registrar, hosting, editor, analytics) pass to you at launch.
Tie each payment to something you can see
With any developer, link payments to milestones you can inspect, such as an approved design on a staging link and then the live launch, and get each invoice from the entity named on the contract. With us, the payment split and methods, how long launch fixes are covered and the hosting region are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign.

Send notes by 5pm, usually see changes next morning: our hours on Canberra time
Our working day, Monday to Saturday, runs 3:30pm–12:30am Canberra time until 4 April 2027, then 2:30pm–11:30pm. That is 10am–7pm in India (UTC+5:30); Canberra moved to daylight saving on 4 October 2026 and moves back on 4 April 2027 (NRMA).
| Period | Our hours, Canberra time | Clock | Overlap with 9–5 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 Oct 2026–4 Apr 2027 | 3:30pm–12:30am | AEDT, UTC+11 | 1.5 hours | Calls late in your afternoon; staging updates waiting next morning |
| From 4 Apr 2027 | 2:30pm–11:30pm | AEST, UTC+10 | 2.5 hours | Room for an early-afternoon call as well |
An hour and a half of shared office time is short, so most of the build happens while Canberra is off the clock, Saturdays included.
