Overview

Where your scope includes a test round, your own customers try the prototype on Sydney evenings. We work from Lucknow, India, across your afternoon and evening, and you get one AUD total in writing before paying anything. Few Sydney UX studios publish prices; the ones that do start at $8,400 a month (Raw Studio) or list minimums up to $50,000+ on Clutch.

Quick answer

How much does a UI/UX design agency in Sydney cost?

Published Sydney figures run from about $1,000 minimum jobs to $50,000+ projects, or $8,400 a month + GST for a studio design retainer (checked 6 Oct 2026). A Sydney UX hire costs about A$118,400 a year with super. Behind those numbers: Clutch-listed Sydney firms bill $25–$49 to $150–$199 an hour, and StudioSpace puts a typical mid-size spend at $10,000–$50,000. With Codingclave, design is priced inside a fixed AUD build: a WordPress website A$900–A$4,300, a custom-designed site A$1,200–A$6,900, an app A$6,900–A$43,000.

  • Most studios ranking in Sydney work for funded startups, enterprise or government
  • Under about $10,000, a scoped project usually fits better than a retainer
  • Design only, for your own developers: priced as a fixed scope too
  • A Sydney UX salary of A$105,731 base comes before leave, laptop and software

UX design agency Sydney prices: every published figure, 6 Oct 2026

We read the Sydney studios and directories Google shows first and noted every price on them. Raw Studio publishes one figure, Clutch publishes per-firm bands without totals, StudioSpace gives one range, and Userkind, Pollen and UntilNow publish none. For what a whole website costs to design and build in Sydney, see our Sydney overview.

  • Hourly bands, per page and per screen

A band only becomes a budget once the hours are capped or the screen list is totalled. The arithmetic, and what to ask about per-screen pricing, is in our national cost section.

  • The cheapest Clutch band, and where the designers sit

Clutch cards in the $25–$49 band often don't say which city the designers work in. Ask, and ask who they work for. Our own answer: Lucknow, India, with founder Ashish Sharma leading delivery. More on reading these lists in our guide to agency lists.

Is your project too small for a Sydney UX studio? A two-minute check

The client logos on the ranking studios' pages show who they're set up for: Raw Studio lists Westfield, Zip Co and IAG, and Pollen lists NSW Government and CSIRO. Tick the lines that describe you.

  • Your budget is under $10,000

Yes or no. Under that figure you sit below StudioSpace's mid-size range and below the $10,000+ and $50,000+ minimums some Sydney firms list on Clutch.

  • You need one flow, not a product team

A booking, a quote request, a checkout or an app's first-run screens is a defined set of screens. Monthly design plans are built for a backlog that keeps refilling.

  • Your site has 6–15 pages and one main task

A handful of page templates plus the path to the action that earns money, such as booking a consult or requesting a callback.

  • You want a fixed total, not a monthly fee

A retainer bills every month whether or not there's design work queued. A scoped project has a screen list, a price and an end date at handover.

  • You’d rather review in the evening than in a workshop

Can't leave the shop, clinic or job site for half a day? Tap through the prototype on your phone after close, then take a short call.

Three or more ticks? A fixed scope will probably serve you better than a retainer. Some projects still belong with a studio in Sydney, and we list those further down. Otherwise, send us the one screen that loses you customers.

UX agencies in Sydney and who each one suits

These are the studios and platforms that came up first for Sydney UI/UX searches on 6 October 2026. Each sells its time differently, and the way a firm charges tells you more about fit than its logo wall does.

UI/UX designer in Sydney: hire one, use a freelancer, or brief an agency

A salary looks cheaper than a studio until you count what sits around it. Here's how the three routes compare for a business deciding whether to employ someone.

  • What a junior can own, and what they can’t

A junior can produce screens and keep components current inside a design system that already exists. Planning research, recruiting participants and building a system from nothing usually need a senior beside them. We couldn't verify a Sydney junior salary, so we don't quote one.

  • Freelancer or agency

A freelance UX designer in Sydney suits one defined flow when developers are already on hand. An agency or team suits work that also needs build, testing and handover under a single contract. We couldn't verify a Sydney freelance rate either, so ask any freelancer for capped hours.

  • When hiring beats both

Continuous product work, most days of the week, for a year or longer. At that point a salary usually wins, and what the designer learns about your customers stays in the building.

Usability testing with Sydney participants, after they finish work

People with office jobs rarely take a test call at 11am. Our working day covers the Sydney afternoon and evening, so sessions can sit after work and fixes go into the prototype the same night. We don't do mornings; the full hour conversions are on our Sydney overview.

  • Finding participants

We recruit from people who already know your business: past customers, recent enquiries, newsletter subscribers or social followers. We hold no Sydney panel. Any paid recruitment or incentives are agreed in your written scope before anyone is contacted.

  • What we can’t do from here

Morning sessions, and anything in person: in-store, in-clinic or at the counter. If watching people in the room matters, hire a researcher who can be there.

Example UX scopes for Sydney businesses (not client projects)

None of the five scopes below is a client project; each is an example of how we would scope the work. The ranking studios' client lists (Zip Co, IAG, hipages, NSW Government) lean towards finance, insurance, home services and government, so these are smaller versions of that mix.

  • Fintech or insurance onboarding

Example scope, not a client project. For a firm in the Sydney CBD, Barangaroo or North Sydney. Screens: sign-up, ID upload, progress steps, 'finish later' and rejected-document errors. Test: recent applicants, timed to submission. Band: mobile app or custom software. See app developers in Sydney and custom software in Sydney.

  • Allied-health or dental booking, Chatswood

Example scope, not a client project. Screens: service or practitioner, time slot, new-patient details, health fund, confirmation and reminder. Test: existing patients booking a dummy slot on their phones. Band: business website. See dental practice websites.

  • NDIS intake and referral

Example scope, not a client project. For a provider in Parramatta, Blacktown or Penrith. Screens: a referral a coordinator completes for someone else, consent, plan management, supports needed and a staff triage view. Test: a support coordinator, then a participant or carer. Band: business website, moving to custom software once triage is added. See NDIS provider websites.

  • Tradie quote form with photos

Example scope, not a client project. Screens: job type, suburb, phone photos, preferred times and a 'we'll call you back' screen. Test: past customers requesting a quote on their phones. Band: business website, or WordPress website for a rebuild. See websites for tradies and WordPress developers in Sydney.

  • Shopify checkout review

Example scope, not a client project. Screens: product page, variant picker, cart, shipping and returns, and mobile checkout. Test: shoppers from your mailing list finding a product and paying. Band: e-commerce store. See Shopify developers in Sydney and e-commerce websites in Sydney.

A redesign won't bring visitors on its own; that's SEO services or Google Ads management work, and nobody can guarantee rankings or leads. For AI chat on the new site, see AI automation in Sydney. Tell us which example is closest to yours.

Bidding for NSW Government work: designing on the NSW Design System

The NSW Design System is the NSW Government's toolkit for accessible, consistent digital services. It is aligned with the NSW Government Brand Framework and built for NSW agencies. None of the studio pages we read explains it, though Pollen shows a testimonial from the system's director.

  • What the kit contains

Components grouped into eight categories, a Figma UI kit, templates, and code on GitHub that is open to contributions; it was at v3.28.1 when we checked on 6 October 2026. Designing in that kit from the first wireframe keeps the eventual build on the agency's own components.

  • Whether your contract requires it

That turns on the agency's brief, so read the RFQ closely. If it names the system, ask for screens built from its Figma kit rather than a lookalike.

  • Accessibility, and who can bid

The homepage states no WCAG level; WCAG 2.2 AA and the AHRC guidelines are covered in our national WCAG section. If procurement needs an ABN or an Australian entity, we can't bid for the work ourselves (see why).

08of 9

Is AI replacing UX designers? What it does on a Sydney project, and what it can’t

Not on what we see in project work. AI tools rough out screen variations in seconds, even in a set kit like the NSW Design System's, and flag low contrast or missing labels. They can't sit in an 8pm video session while a Parramatta customer hunts for the booking button, or decide whether dropping two form fields is worth the data your front desk then loses.

  • Which AI agent is best for UI/UX design?

We don't name or rate tools. Whichever you try, ask who checks what it produces against real customers.

  • What to ask a studio that says it designs with AI

Which steps it speeds up, whether the saving shows up in your total, and who still watches real customers use the screens before sign-off.

What automated checks miss on a live site is listed in our national UX audit section. Used an AI tool already? Send us a screen it designed and we'll say what a test session would check.

Briefing a UI/UX team in India from Sydney: four fair questions

Codingclave Development LLP works from Lucknow, India. We have no office, ABN or legal entity in Australia, so your project runs over WhatsApp, email and video calls. These are the questions worth putting to us, or to any remote design team.

  • Who designs it?

Ashish Sharma, who founded Codingclave in 2017, scopes your project and stays answerable for it through handover. Ask us to name, in your written scope, who will design your screens and who will moderate your test sessions.

  • How you judge quality before paying

Tap through the prototype on your phone before any build starts, and watch the session recordings where your scope includes testing. Earlier projects are on our work page, and we hold ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews) on our reviews page. We're Top Rated on Upwork, with 200+ projects since 2017.

  • Files, payment and support after launch

Which account holds the Figma file, when copyright passes, how payment is staged and what optional hosting and support (A$80–A$240 a month) covers are set out in your scope. Why each clause matters is on our national page.

  • When a studio in Sydney is the better choice

On-site ethnography, in-store or in-clinic testing, co-located design sprints, an equity or joint-venture deal like UntilNow's, an unlimited-request retainer for a team shipping weekly, morning availability, or an ABN for procurement. We can't offer any of those.

What design costs inside a Codingclave build

We don't bill by the hour. Flows, wireframes, Figma screens and a clickable prototype sit inside one fixed band, and the test and revision rounds your project needs are listed in the scope next to the total. If your own developers will build, we quote the Figma screen list as its own fixed figure in writing.

How it works

From one screenshot to tested screens: six steps

Start on WhatsApp
  1. Send a URL, Figma link or one screenshot

On WhatsApp, naming the step that loses customers if you know it.

  2. Video call: 3:30–5pm AEDT for decision-makers, or after 5:30pm

Who your customers are, the one task that pays, and where people drop off.

  3. Screen list and one AUD total in writing

Every screen and state, the test and revision rounds, and file ownership, with a single figure.

  4. Clickable prototype you review on your phone

Comment in Figma or by WhatsApp voice note; revisions usually land by your next morning (not guaranteed).

  5. Sessions with your own customers, then revisions

Where your scope includes testing: evening video sessions, recorded with consent, then fixes ranked by how often a problem recurs.

  6. Build, or a developer handover pack, with files in your accounts

We build within the agreed band, or hand your developers specs, assets and the Figma file.

What is the average salary for a UX designer in Sydney?

Indeed puts the Sydney average at A$105,731 base, from 18 salaries updated 27 September 2026 (range A$70,970 to A$157,518). Senior UX designers average A$139,632 and Parramatta A$130,111, all small samples. With 12% super, an employer pays about A$118,419 before leave, equipment and software.

What is the minimum project size for a UX agency in Sydney?

Clutch's Sydney list, dated 6 October 2026 and stating no currency, shows minimums from $1,000+ (CUT THRU) through $10,000+ (Appetiser) to $50,000+ (Luminary). Raw Studio's design team starts at $8,400 a month + GST, and most studio pages publish no minimum at all. Our fixed builds with design included start at A$900 for a WordPress website and A$1,200 for a custom-designed site.

How long does a UI/UX project take with a design studio in Sydney?

Raw Studio says most of its projects run 4–12 weeks, from a 4-week rebrand to a 12-week investment platform. UntilNow says its websites typically take 6–10 weeks. Our builds take 1–3 weeks for a business website and 4–12 weeks for an app. Recruiting customers, running test sessions and revising adds time on top, and that time is written into your scope with the price.

Can an offshore UI/UX team work to Sydney hours?

Partly, and it's worth being exact. Our Monday-to-Saturday day overlaps a 9-to-5 working day in Sydney by 1.5 hours now (3:30–5pm AEDT) and by 2.5 hours after daylight saving ends on 4 April 2027. Evenings are where it helps: customer test sessions run about 5:30–9pm, and revised screens are usually ready by your next morning, though that isn't guaranteed. We can't do morning calls.

Is UX getting replaced by AI?

For a Sydney business, the risky parts of a redesign still need people. An AI tool can lay out a dozen booking screens in the NSW Design System's components in minutes. It can't run the 8pm phone session where a real customer misses the 'next' button, recruit that customer from your list, or weigh a shorter form against the details your staff need to do the job.

Is UI/UX still in demand in 2026?

We haven't verified a Sydney job-ad count, so we won't claim a trend. As context, Indeed's Sydney figures, updated 27 September 2026, average A$105,731 for a UX designer and A$139,632 for a senior, from small samples. For a business owner the more useful test is local and immediate: watch three customers try your booking or checkout screen and count where they stall.

Can usability testing be done remotely with Sydney participants?

Yes. The participant shares their screen over video and talks through tasks on the prototype while you watch live or catch the recording later. Our sessions run roughly 5:30pm to 9pm Sydney time. Participants come from your own customers, enquiries or followers, because we hold no Sydney panel, and we can't run in-person or in-clinic sessions.

Do NSW Government projects have to use the NSW Design System?

It depends on the agency's brief, so check the RFQ. The NSW Design System is the NSW Government's toolkit for its agencies: v3.28.1 when checked on 6 October 2026, with components in eight categories, a Figma UI kit, templates and code on GitHub. Its homepage states no WCAG level, so confirm accessibility requirements in the tender documents.
