Quick answer

How much does website design cost on the Gold Coast?

Website design on the Gold Coast runs from $695 for a one-page site to custom builds that are quoted only, based on the first-page Google results we checked on 6 Oct 2026. Webeasy was the only one of those pages to publish build prices ($695 to $995 for 1–7 pages); the larger agencies quote only. With us, expect A$900–A$4,300 for WordPress, A$1,200–A$6,900 for a custom business website and A$2,400–A$19,500 for an online store, plus optional hosting and support at A$80–A$240 a month.

Gold Coast website prices compared (checked 6 Oct 2026)

On 6 October 2026 we checked eight of the first-page results for 'website design Gold Coast' and recorded what each ranking page shows: a build price, a hosting or care price, and a timeline. None showed all three.

Published website prices from Gold Coast providers, checked 6 Oct 2026 (all figures AUD)

If you need a one-page site and nothing more, Webeasy is cheaper than us, and about as quick. Its $695 sits below our A$900 floor, and it publishes 7–14 days for sites of up to 7 pages. If the lowest price matters most, that is the honest answer.

What you get with us: one written price, monthly costs published upfront, and a site built to take bookings, orders and enquiries. Prices change, so check each provider's site. For national costs, see website development for Australian businesses.

What moves a Gold Coast website up or down our price range

A five-page café site and a 40-product store with booking add-ons are different jobs, so our ranges are wide. These factors decide where your quote lands; the written quote itemises each one.

What your first year actually costs: build plus hosting

The number that matters for a budget is the first year: the build plus twelve months of hosting and support. No page we checked adds these up, so here is ours.

Hosting and support is optional. It covers hosting, backups, monitoring and support, as listed in your quote. Happy with your current host? Keep it and drop the middle column. Changes beyond the quote are priced in AUD first.

Outside our quote, paid to other providers:

  • the domain licence
  • a Shopify plan and paid apps
  • booking-engine or channel-manager subscriptions
  • card and payment-gateway fees
  • stock photos or a photographer

Websites for Gold Coast tourism, accommodation and hospitality businesses

Tourism and Events Queensland puts tourism at about $5.5 billion in 2022-23, or 12.1% of Gold Coast gross regional product, and about 45,800 jobs, roughly 1 in 8. In the year to June 2025, 636,000 international visitors spent $1.5 billion here. Cafés and restaurants, retail and accommodation are the largest direct tourism employers.

Whether it's a Surfers Paradise apartment building, a Burleigh Heads café, a Coolangatta surf school or a Broadbeach restaurant, the site has to answer three questions on a phone: is it available, what does it cost, and how do I book?

  • Direct-booking and enquiry paths for motels and apartments

Every page carries a book or enquire button, each room type gets its own page with real photos, and policies sit one tap away. The site links to your booking engine, or the form asks for dates and guest numbers. See our booking engine and direct-booking set-up.

  • Holiday lets and short-term rentals

Holiday-home owners and managers need a site that takes a direct enquiry with dates and guest numbers, and states house rules, minimum stays, bond and cleaning terms before the guest asks. Several properties with availability per property is booking-system work: see the accommodation page.

  • Menus, functions and ordering for cafés and restaurants

Menus, opening hours and function enquiries come first, and you edit prices and specials yourself. Ordering integration is scoped per venue: see restaurants, cafés and takeaways, our restaurant POS software and restaurant software in Australia compared.

  • Sessions, groups and seasonal packages for tour operators

Surf schools, boat tours and hinterland trips sell by session and headcount. Show session times and prices, take group enquiries and say what to bring. School-holiday, schoolies and event packages go on seasonal pages you edit yourself; waivers and deposits are priced in your quote.

  • Fast mobile pages for visitors on 4G

Visitors often look you up on mobile data. Our target is a Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less, which means photos sized for phones and no autoplay video at the top of the page. See the speed and accessibility targets.

  • Long stays and international guests

International visitors averaged 14.5 nights in the year to June 2025 (Experience Gold Coast). For long stays, show weekly rates, full cancellation and check-in policies, and a comparison of apartment sizes and inclusions, with prices marked AUD.

Payment-gateway, channel-manager and OTA connections are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign. We take projects from anywhere on the Coast, from Coomera, Helensvale and Southport to Robina. Letting agencies can see our real estate agencies page, and clinics our medical and allied health page.

Tell us on WhatsApp what you sell and when your season peaks.

What a Gold Coast motel website can offer that Booking.com can’t

A motel or holiday-apartment website won't replace Booking.com or Expedia. Its job is to win the guests who would book direct if given a reason. Australian operators told the ABC (30 May 2026) they pay Booking.com 12–15% commission on standard rates, up to about 30% with optional incentive programs.

Since the ACCC's 2016 changes, you may offer lower rates by phone, to walk-ins and to customer loyalty groups, but the OTAs can still stop you advertising a lower public rate on your own website. The ABC reported that no formal government review had started as of May 2026.

What each booking channel allows, and the job your website does (ACCC 2016; ABC News 30 May 2026)
ChannelLower rate than the OTAs?The website's job
Public rate on your own websiteOTAs can still prohibit itMatch the OTA price and add value: late checkout, parking or breakfast
Phone and walk-inAllowed under the 2016 changesClick-to-call, a visible number and a short enquiry form
Customer loyalty groupAllowed under the 2016 changesA sign-up form, with member rates sent by email or shown after login
Repeat-guest email listMay qualify; check your contractCapture emails at booking and check-out
OTA listingOperators report 12–15%, up to about 30%Discovery; link to your own site where the OTA allows it

So design the site around what you may offer: member rates, packages, and a fast phone or enquiry path. A direct booking at the same price still keeps the commission with you. General information, not legal advice; check your own OTA contract.

Taking enquiries, bookings or online orders? Picking the right platform

Let the job the site has to do pick the platform, then choose the option with the lowest running cost that still does it.

  • A site that brings in enquiries

WordPress covers most cafés, trades, clinics and seasonal pages, provided it carries few plugins and gets regular updates.

  • A site that sells products

Shopify hosts the checkout for a monthly plan plus app fees. WooCommerce keeps shop and content together on WordPress, so hosting and updates sit with you.

  • Something a theme cannot handle

Member portals, availability across several properties or tight speed targets need a custom build, scoped before it is priced.

On any of them you edit text, photos and prices yourself; layout changes and new integrations are quoted separately. Before you choose, compare Gold Coast WordPress developer prices, takeovers and care plans and what a Shopify store on the Gold Coast costs to build and run.

When a Gold Coast agency is the better choice, and when we are

  • Choose a local agency if you want people in the room

Pick a Gold Coast agency for face-to-face workshops, an on-site photo or video crew, or a 12-month SEO and Google Business Profile retainer run locally. We can't offer those.

  • Choose a budget builder if one page is enough

For a single page live within days at the lowest price, a budget builder costs less than we do and can be as quick. You give up custom design and integrations.

  • Choose us for a fixed price and a site that does more

We suit owners who want one fixed written price, a build that takes bookings, orders or member sign-ups, evening and Saturday availability, and monthly costs published before they sign.

Speed and accessibility targets for every Gold Coast site we build

Google's web.dev defines three 'good' Core Web Vitals thresholds, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads on mobile and desktop. Those are our build targets, with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The Australian Human Rights Commission's April 2025 Guidelines on Equal Access to Digital Goods and Services treat websites as covered by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and recommend WCAG 2.2 AA.

Build targets for every site
MeasureTargetHow it is checked
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)2.5 s or less at the 75th percentileLab speed tests before launch, then Search Console field data once traffic builds

These are targets for the site we deliver, not a promise of Google rankings, which also depend on your content, reviews and competition.

How working with an India-based team works for a Gold Coast business

Codingclave is a founder-led team in Lucknow, India, run by Ashish Sharma since 2017. Here is how a project runs at a distance.

  • Hours that don’t shift with the seasons

Queensland has no daylight saving, so our 10am–7pm India hours stay at 2:30pm–11:30pm AEST, Monday to Saturday, all year. Send a change on WhatsApp (+91 92771 84741) at lunchtime and the work happens that evening. Email carries documents; video calls cover design reviews.

  • Where we are, plainly

We have no Australian office, staff, phone number, ABN or legal entity, and we don't claim to be local. Every Gold Coast project is run remotely from Lucknow.

  • Paying safely

Your written fixed AUD quote sets out scope, dates and when each payment falls due, before you pay anything. Whoever you hire, tie payments to things you can see: an approved design, then a working site.

  • If something breaks

Monitoring is part of hosting and support. Between 11:30pm and 2:30pm AEST nobody is at a desk here, so your response times are written into your quote. If round-the-clock cover matters for your booking page, say so before you sign.

  • Proof you can check yourself

4.9 stars on Google from 76 reviews (read them), Top Rated on Upwork, and 200+ projects delivered since 2017 (see the work). For working code, try the live hotel software demo. It was built for Indian hotels, so Australian tax, payment and channel set-up is confirmed in writing for your business before you sign. Message us for the login.

  • Five questions to ask any web designer, us included

    1. Who will own the domain, hosting and code?
    2. What is the first-year total, hosting included?
    3. What is the timeline, in writing?
    4. What does support cost, and what does it cover?
    5. What is excluded from the price?

Ask us those five questions on WhatsApp and get the answers in writing. For the wider picture, read how outsourcing to India works for Australian businesses, or see website design in Brisbane.

Who owns your .com.au domain, hosting and code

Under auDA's rules, a .com.au holder must be a commercial entity with an Australian Presence, such as an Australian citizen or permanent resident, a company registered under the Corporations Act, or an entity with an ABN. The name must link to the holder: its business name or an acronym of it, its Australian trade mark, or a service or product it offers. If that presence lapses, you are no longer eligible and the licence can be cancelled.

So your .com.au belongs in your business name: Codingclave has no Australian Presence. If a quote registers the domain in the supplier's name, ask why.

The same goes for everything that runs the site. Keep these in your business name, or under your own admin login, from day one:

  • the hosting account
  • the code repository
  • the CMS administrator login
  • Google Analytics and Search Console

What we hand over at launch is listed in your quote. Ask on WhatsApp what the handover includes.

How it works

From brief to launch: a step-by-step plan, dated in your quote

We estimate 1–2 weeks for WordPress, 1–3 weeks for a business website and 2–6 weeks for an online store. Webeasy publishes 7–14 days for up to 7 pages; the custom studios we checked publish 6–10 or 6–12 weeks. Our dates assume your text and photos are ready and replies come quickly at review points, and your quote states those assumptions.

How much should I pay a website designer on the Gold Coast?

It depends on pages and features. On 6 October 2026 the lowest published price on Google's first page was $695 for a one-page site, and most Gold Coast agencies quote only. Ours start at A$900 for WordPress, A$1,200 for a custom business website and A$2,400 for an online store. Compare first-year totals, hosting included.

What is the average cost of a website design in Australia?

We haven't found a reliable published national average. On the Gold Coast alone, published prices start at $695 for a one-page site, while most agencies quote custom work privately. Our own ranges start at A$900 for WordPress and A$1,200 for a custom business website. For a breakdown by site type across Australia, see our website development page for Australian businesses, linked under related pages.

How long does it take to build a small business website?

We estimate 1–2 weeks for WordPress, 1–3 weeks for a business website and 2–6 weeks for a store. Webeasy publishes 7–14 days for sites of up to 7 pages, Thrive Digital 6–10 weeks and B Creative Studio 6–12 weeks for WordPress. Delays usually come from content: unwritten text, missing photos, or integrations waiting on a third party. Your dates are confirmed in the quote.

Can a web designer who isn't on the Gold Coast build my website?

Yes, with trade-offs. There are no face-to-face meetings or on-site shoots with us. We're online 2:30pm–11:30pm AEST, Monday to Saturday, a 2.5-hour overlap with a 9-to-5 day all year, since Queensland has no daylight saving. Work runs over WhatsApp, email and video, with scope, price and dates in a written quote. If in-person contact matters most, choose a Gold Coast agency.

Who should own my .com.au domain and website?

Your business. auDA requires a .com.au holder to have an Australian Presence, such as an ABN or an Australian company, and you lose eligibility if that presence lapses, so an overseas supplier like us cannot hold it for you. Keep hosting, code, CMS admin and analytics under your own logins too. What we hand over at launch is listed in your quote.

Can my motel offer cheaper rates on its own website than on Booking.com?

Not as a public rate, if your OTA contract has a parity clause. Under the changes the ACCC secured in 2016, Booking.com and Expedia can still stop a lower public rate on your own website, but you may offer lower rates by phone, to walk-ins and to customer loyalty groups; the ABC reported in May 2026 that this still stands. Use member rates, packages and value-adds instead. General information, not legal advice.

Does a small business on the Gold Coast still need a website in 2026?

Yes, for most. Customers still check a website before they book, order or call, and a Google Business Profile has limits: it can't take a booking through your own engine, hold a full menu with function packages, sign up loyalty members or carry your cancellation policy in full. Those jobs matter most for motels, cafés and tour operators.

Does my business website need to be accessible under Australian law?

The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 covers providers of goods and services, and the Australian Human Rights Commission's view is that this includes websites. Its April 2025 Guidelines on Equal Access to Digital Goods and Services, which replaced the 2014 advisory notes, recommend WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is our build target too. General information, not legal advice.
