Overview

Most WordPress sites land inside our A$900–A$4,300 band and take 1–2 weeks; where yours sits depends on what we find when we look at the site. The two Sydney studios that print a build price start at $6,995 and $15,000. We work from Lucknow, India, with no Sydney office, 3:30pm–12:30am AEDT Monday to Saturday, so feedback sent in your day is usually on a staging link by next morning, and launches happen after you close.

Quick answer

How much does a WordPress developer cost in Sydney in 2026?

Codingclave sets one fixed price inside A$900–A$4,300 for most WordPress sites, plus A$80–A$240 a month if you want hosting and care. Of the Sydney suppliers we checked on 6 Oct 2026, only two print a build price: Nirmal Web Studio from $6,995 and WP Creative from $15,000, with WP Creative's care plans beginning at $2,500 a month. Hourly figures on suppliers' own sites run from about $70 (WP Guru) to $150 (WP Creative on demand, or $125 on a 12-month commitment), and firms on Clutch's Sydney list show bands from under $25 to $200–300 an hour.

  • Lowest printed Sydney build price: $6,995 (Nirmal Web Studio)
  • WP Creative: builds from $15,000, care from $2,500 a month
  • In-house: a Google snippet of SEEK's Sydney ads showed $80k–$105k plus super
  • Ours: one fixed AUD price per job, agreed in writing before you pay

Sydney WordPress prices in print: six suppliers and Clutch, checked 6 Oct 2026

We opened the site of every WordPress supplier on Google's first page and map results for this search, plus the paid ad and Clutch's Sydney directory, and noted what each publishes. Only two build prices turned up, and Nirmal Web Studio and WP Creative share an ABN (Naphix Pty Ltd), so read them as one business at two price points. Figures appear as published, with no GST added or removed.

Why a fixed A$900–A$4,300 sits so far below Sydney studio prices

A gap that size makes people look for the catch. There are three reasons, none of them a shortcut: our overheads are Lucknow overheads, not Ultimo rent and Sydney salaries; there's no account-manager layer, so you speak with Ashish and the developer doing the work; and the scope is tight, so the bottom of the band buys a modest site on an established theme, not a bespoke design system.

  • What moves a job up the band

More pages, custom blocks, forms that feed other tools, content carried over from an old site and WooCommerce features. The written scope shows why your job lands where it does.

  • What stays the same at any price

Staging before go-live, the Administrator login, domain and licences held by your business, and a written list of exclusions.

  • When we’re the wrong fit

If the project needs people in your meeting room every week, or months of discovery, a supplier with Sydney staff will suit you better, and we'll tell you so.

WordPress support, repairs and one-off jobs in Sydney, without a monthly retainer

Some Sydney agencies only take ad-hoc work from clients already on a monthly plan. That fits a marketing team with a steady queue of changes. An owner with one broken form needs something smaller, so we quote single jobs on their own: send the URL, we look at the site, and you get a written price for that job alone.

  • Moving off Wix or Squarespace

We rebuild the pages in WordPress, carry copy and images over, and 301-redirect every old address to its new page, so Google results and old email links still land somewhere useful. A brochure-sized site usually fits the A$900–A$4,300 band. Theme or page builder? See our national WordPress page.

  • An inherited site from a developer who stopped replying

Start with what you can still reach: the domain registrar, the hosting control panel and any inbox that gets WordPress notifications. We create a new Administrator account on your business email and list every paid plugin with the account its licence sits on. The full order is in our national takeover guide.

  • WooCommerce developer work for Sydney shops

Shipping zones charging the wrong rate, a failing product import, a checkout step where customers give up: each is quoted separately and tested on staging first. Planning a new store? See e-commerce websites in Sydney or compare Shopify developers in Sydney.

  • A slow site, with no score promised

We don't guarantee a PageSpeed score or a ranking, and nobody honestly can. We find the heavy plugins, images and scripts, fix them and, where Google has enough visitor data for your site, show real-visitor figures before and after. Method: our field-data section.

  • A hacked or redirecting site

Spam pages or a red browser warning? Change every password you hold (hosting, WordPress, email) and don't delete files yet, because the leftovers show how the attacker got in. We clean the site, close the gap and tighten logins; the recovery order is in our hacked-site section.

Site hacked right now? Message Ashish

Care to keep the site patched afterwards runs A$80–A$240 a month; a single repair never requires it.

WordPress website designer or developer in Sydney: matching the job to the price

Searches for a WordPress designer and a developer often describe the same project, but the money goes to different skills.

  • Design-led: a dated look, a working site

Layout, colour, type and imagery change; the code barely moves. A reskin usually fits our A$900–A$4,300 WordPress band, while Nirmal's design-led builds start at $6,995. See UI/UX design in Sydney.

  • Developer-led: the site has to do something new

Custom blocks, a booking or CRM connection, PHP errors after an update. Builds linked to outside tools fall in our A$1,200–A$6,900 business-website band; deeper integrations suit custom software in Sydney.

  • Both: a rebuild that keeps its Google traffic

Design and code together, plus a redirect map from every old URL so earned traffic survives. If search is the main goal, add our SEO services.

Best or top WordPress developer in Sydney? Ten checks to run on any shortlist

This page doesn't rank Sydney suppliers, and any ranking deserves a question about how it was made. Clutch notes that it may earn a fee for some placements, so its order isn't a pure ranking. Put these ten checks to every name on your list, Codingclave included, and keep the answers in writing.

  • 1. The Administrator login is yours

Open Users in the dashboard yourself. The main Administrator account should use your business email; the developer gets a separate login you can delete.

  • 2. Your business is the domain registrant

Run a WHOIS lookup or ask the registrar. The registrant should be your business, not the developer.

  • 3. Plugin and theme licences are in your name

Ask for each paid plugin and theme with the account its licence belongs to. If renewals bill to the developer, updates stop when they leave.

  • 4. A staging site before go-live

Ask for the staging URL before approving anything. Edits made on the live site mean customers meet every mistake first.

  • 5. The smallest job they’ll take

Ask whether a single fix can be quoted without a monthly plan.

  • 6. Who writes the code, and from which city

Ask for the developer's name and location, and whether you can speak to them directly.

  • 7. Reply hours stated in AEDT

Get the hours in Sydney time, in writing. "Business hours" alone doesn't say whose.

  • 8. A written, fixed scope

Pages, features, change rounds and exclusions agreed before money moves, with extras priced in writing.

  • 9. Reviews you can open elsewhere

Google or Clutch reviews with names and dates, read on that platform, not counters and logos on a supplier's own site.

  • 10. Claims that match the public record

WordPress was first released in 2003 (WordPress.org history), so a supplier claiming more WordPress years than that deserves a closer look.

The same checks, applied to us: admin account, domain and licences in your business's name and listed in the scope; staging first; single fixes quoted without a plan; developers in Lucknow, India, available on video; hours 3:30pm–12:30am AEDT, Monday to Saturday. Proof you can check: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews) via our reviews page, Top Rated on Upwork, and 200+ projects since 2017 on our work page.

Where Sydney WordPress code actually gets written

A suburb on a map listing shows where an office is, not where the developers sit. Clutch publishes the share of each firm's staff in its listed office, WP Creative lists offices in Ultimo and Kathmandu, Nepal, and some Sydney suppliers state that they don't outsource. Ask every supplier, us included, for the developer's name and city.

Codingclave has no office, staff or phone number in Australia. Ashish Sharma started the company in Lucknow in 2017 and runs delivery himself; your developer can join video calls, and daily messages go through WhatsApp. That suits nearly all WordPress work. It doesn't suit on-site staff training or workshops in your office; for those, pick a supplier with people in Sydney.

A Sydney WordPress job on our clock: feedback by day, changes by morning, go-live after close

Until daylight saving ends on 4 April 2027, we work 3:30pm–12:30am AEDT, Monday to Saturday. That overlaps a 9-to-5 Sydney day by 1.5 hours, 3:30–5pm, enough for a short call. We don't promise reply times, but this is the usual rhythm.

How a typical Sydney WordPress change moves (AEDT, Oct 2026 – Apr 2027)
When (Sydney time)What you doWhat happens on our side
Your working daySend feedback, screenshots or a voice note on WhatsAppPicked up when we come online at 3:30pm

Next morningReview the staging link, usually ready by then, and approve or commentThe cycle picks up again from 3:30pm
SaturdayOptional: approve a weekend launchA normal working day for us, handy for launches and fixes

A pattern, not a promised turnaround: bigger changes take several evenings, and anything needing your answer waits for it. From 4 Apr 2027 times shift an hour earlier, to 2:30pm–11:30pm AEST, and the overlap grows to 2.5 hours.

WordPress web development for North Sydney firms, Parramatta services and the growth corridors

Greater Sydney had 5,638,830 residents at 30 June 2025, up 75,230 (1.4%) in a year (ABS), with the biggest gains on the fringe: Box Hill–Nelson +3,911, Marsden Park–Shanes Park +3,200 and Austral–Greendale +3,100. Each scope below is an example, not a client project.

  • North Sydney and Sydney CBD accountants and law firms

Example scope: a page per practice area, enquiry forms that reach the right person, and staff profiles reception can update. Need enquiries before organic traffic builds? See Google Ads management.

  • Chatswood clinics

Example scope: practitioner pages, a button into the clinic's booking system, and treatment pages written for patients. Dental practices: see our dental practices page.

  • Inner West cafés and hospitality

Example scope: menus staff can edit from a phone, a functions form asking date, numbers and budget, and hours matching the Google listing. For the counter, see our restaurant POS software.

  • Parramatta and Western Sydney not-for-profits and NDIS providers

Example scope: accessible pages with proper headings and alt text, donation forms, and referral forms a support coordinator can finish on a phone. See our NDIS provider page.

  • Tradies and childcare in the north-west and south-west corridors

Example scope: a quote form asking suburb and job type, and service-area pages for Box Hill, Marsden Park or Austral that each carry real content, not near-identical doorway pages. See our tradies page.

How it works

How a Sydney WordPress job runs with us

Most of the back-and-forth happens on WhatsApp, and you approve each stage before the next one starts.

Start on WhatsApp
  1. WhatsApp the URL and the job

A screenshot, a voice note or two lines of text is enough to start.

  2. We look at the site, then write a fixed scope

The scope names who holds each login and licence, what's included, what isn't, and the single price.

  3. Work on a staging copy

Your live site keeps trading while we work on a private copy; progress is usually ready to check next morning.

  4. You approve, then we go live after close

Nothing goes live until you've signed off, and the switch happens in the evening once customers have gone.

  5. Handover or care

You keep the Administrator login, plugin list and short notes on how the site is built, or move onto a care plan.

Ask Ashish directly

Ask on WhatsApp

What is the WordPress developer hourly rate in Sydney?

Few Sydney suppliers print one. WP Guru says an experienced developer charges upwards of $70 an hour, and WP Creative's cost guide lists on-demand work at $150, or $125 with a 12-month commitment. Firms on Clutch's Sydney list show bands from under $25 to $200–300 an hour, and some of the cheapest have few staff in their Sydney office. We don't bill hourly: each job gets one fixed AUD price once we've seen the site.

Who is the best WordPress developer in Sydney?

Nobody can honestly name one, and no independent league table exists. Directory order isn't a pure ranking either: Clutch notes it may earn a fee for some placements. Ask instead who suits your job and budget, and put the ten shortlist checks on this page to each supplier: logins and licences in your name, staging, the smallest job they'll take, who writes the code and where, AEDT hours, a fixed written scope and reviews on another platform.

Should I hire a freelance WordPress developer or an agency in Sydney?

Let the job decide. A solo Sydney freelancer such as WP Guru gives you the owner directly from about $70 an hour, but work pauses when that person is unavailable. An agency adds a project manager and a bigger team at a higher entry price. Our founder-led remote studio sits between: a fixed price inside A$900–A$4,300 for a site, single fixes without a plan, and a live window from 3:30 to 5pm AEDT.

Do I need a WordPress developer near me, or can a remote team do the job?

Most WordPress work never needs anyone in the room: edits, rebuilds, WooCommerce fixes and hacked-site clean-ups all run through logins, a staging copy and video calls. Being nearby matters for on-site staff training or regular workshops. The bigger risk with any supplier, near or far, is losing access when they stop replying, so keep the Administrator account, domain and licences in your business's name from day one, with handover notes another developer could follow.

Where should a Sydney WordPress site be hosted?

Close to the people who visit it. For a mostly Sydney audience that usually means an Australian data centre, or a content delivery network with a Sydney edge, plus daily backups, staging and an account your business holds. If we host the site, the provider and region go into your written scope; you can also keep the hosting account and give us a login. The full checklist is on our national WordPress development page.

Is WordPress development still in demand in Sydney?

Sydney employers were still advertising WordPress roles on 6 Oct 2026, with a Google snippet of SEEK's listings showing $80k to $105k plus super. W3Techs counts WordPress on 40.1% of every website it surveys, and 58.6% of those where it can detect the content system, and 7.1.3 was the current release in October 2026. For an owner, that means developers, hosts and plugins stay easy to find.

Can AI or ChatGPT build my WordPress site instead of a developer?

It can produce a first draft. TechCrunch reported a free WordPress.com AI site builder in April 2025 that generates a starter site from a chat prompt, though not stores or complex integrations at launch, and Dataconomy reported a built-in AI assistant in February 2026 that edits layout and copy. AI doesn't take responsibility: someone still holds the logins, patches plugins and fixes the form an update breaks. Our care for that costs A$80–A$240 a month.

Can you customise the Sydney WordPress theme, or move a site off it?

Yes. "Sydney" is a WordPress theme by aThemes, not a Sydney service, which is why it shows up in these searches. WordPress.org lists 80,000+ active installs, version 2.71 updated 26 Aug 2026, and 4.9 stars from 794 reviews. It works with Elementor and the block editor, with paid upgrades sold as Sydney Pro. We can customise a site built on it, or rebuild on another theme while keeping your URLs.
