What Sunshine Coast web designers charge: 8 agencies’ published prices (checked 6 Oct 2026)

On 6 October 2026 we opened the eight agency pages Google shows first for Sunshine Coast web design and noted what each prints. Four put a build price on the page, and each starts at $5,000 or higher. DigitalOn keeps its package prices behind a click, and not one prices hosting or ongoing care. Names link to the pages we read; check the live figure before relying on it.

A website under $5,000 on the Sunshine Coast: what you get and what you give up

Those $5,000 floors pass over most of the Coast. At 30 June 2025, 23,573 of the 39,239 businesses in the Sunshine Coast Council area (60.1%) had no employees, and 97.5% had fewer than 20 staff (ABS). A lone tiler or a two-person bookkeeping practice can still get a site that wins work for less; it just does fewer things.

  • What a lower-band quote usually covers

A small site built around the pages that bring in jobs: services, about and contact. You send photos (phone shots are fine) and rough notes, and we rework the words to answer what customers ask before they ring. Expect a quote form, click-to-call, a quick mobile layout and page titles set for Google, with every page named in the quote.

  • What it usually leaves out

A professional photo or video shoot, a face-to-face strategy workshop, custom illustration or a new brand identity, and SEO work after launch. Each can be added once the work coming in justifies it.

  • When doing it yourself is the honest answer

If you employ nobody, need three pages and a phone number online this week and enjoy fiddling with layouts, a DIY builder such as Wix or Squarespace may do for now; you pay its plan and spend your evenings on it. Paying someone makes sense once your time is worth more than the saving, or you need a quote form that captures job details and a site you can move.

  • When paying a Coast agency $5,000+ makes sense

When you want a location shoot, face-to-face meetings or a large team signing off a custom build; 'When to choose a Coast agency instead', below, names who offers what.

Working with less than $5,000? Tell us your trade and suburbs on WhatsApp and we'll tell you which band you fit.

Who runs a business on the Sunshine Coast, and what each kind of website has to do

The ABS counted 39,239 businesses trading in the Sunshine Coast Council area at 30 June 2025, 1,099 more than a year earlier (+2.9%). Construction leads by far, and each big group needs its site to do a different first job.

  • Trades and builders

Visitors want a price, so the site's job is a quote request with enough detail to price from: job type, suburb and a photo of the sagging gutter. Queensland adds a rule: the QBCC requires licensees to show their licensed name and QBCC licence number in advertising, and that includes websites and social media pages. We put both in the footer and on the quote page. More on our tradie websites page.

  • Accountants, engineers and other professional firms

The second-largest group, at 5,346 businesses. A surveyor in Maroochydore or an accountant in Buderim is hired on trust, so the site needs named people with qualifications, two or three worked examples, a secure document upload and a button that books a first call into a real calendar.

  • Practitioners and clinics

Physios, psychologists and chiropractors in Kawana or Buderim should show each practitioner's AHPRA registration number so new patients can check it on the public register, plus a direct link into the booking software and forms that keep health details out of ordinary email. See clinic sites and NDIS provider sites.

  • Property managers and holiday letting

The third-largest group runs on listings you can update in minutes, an owner sign-up form and enquiries routed to the right manager. Short-stay homes in Noosa Shire need approval under Noosa Council's Short Stay Letting and Home Hosted Accommodation Local Law, with an approval notice carrying the number displayed at the front of the property; store that number against each listing so it can go on the property page too. See real estate agency websites.

  • Cafés, tours and holiday stays

Someone on Mooloolaba Esplanade or Hastings Street reads your site on a phone, often on patchy data, so put prices, hours and a booking or order button on the first screen. See café websites and accommodation websites.

Sunshine Coast Council or Noosa Shire: naming your service area without doorway pages

'Noosa to Caloundra' is two councils. Noosa residents voted on 9 March 2013 to leave the amalgamated council, and Noosa Shire was re-established on 1 January 2014. Sunshine Coast Council had 381,957 residents at June 2025, up 2.0% in a year; Noosa Shire had 59,551. Customers search by where they live, so name the parts you really cover. Noosa businesses get the same bands and process as everyone else.

  • South: Caloundra to Caloundra West

Caloundra, Pelican Waters and Caloundra West, including the Aura estates around Baringa. The ABS found Caloundra West – Baringa grew faster than any other area outside the capital cities in 2024–25, by about 2,000 people. For a trade winning work in new estates, it may justify its own page, with finished jobs there to show.

  • Middle and north: Kawana to Nambour and the range

Birtinya, home to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the clinics near it; Mooloolaba and Maroochydore on the beach; Buderim on the hill; Sippy Downs beside the University of the Sunshine Coast; then Nambour, Coolum Beach and the hinterland towns of Maleny, Montville and Palmwoods. A mobile business driving up the range usually needs a hinterland call-out note, not a page per town.

  • Noosa Shire

Noosa Heads, Noosaville and Peregian Beach. People here often search 'Noosa' rather than 'Sunshine Coast', so if you serve both councils, say so on your service-area page and list your Noosa suburbs separately in your Business Profile.

List the areas you really cover in your Google Business Profile and on one service-area page; near-identical suburb pages with only the name swapped are what Google's spam policies call doorway abuse. Our tradie websites page covers when a suburb earns its own page.

How the store's card fees add up. A$60,000 at A$80 an order is 750 orders: 1.7% is A$1,020 and 30c an order is A$225, about A$1,245. Billed monthly, the plan is A$672, not A$504. A third-party gateway adds a 2% Basic transaction fee on top of the gateway's own rate.

Does the host need to be on the Coast? No. Server location makes little difference to how Google treats a Coast business; speed and uptime matter more. Your quote lists the server region.

Not sure which platform your new site should run on?

Choose by what the site has to do each week, then check which fees land on your card and in which currency.

  • Online sales come first: Shopify

Shopify hosts the store and bills in AUD, from A$42 a month on Basic paid yearly. Stick with Shopify Payments, or a third-party gateway adds 2% on that plan. Shopify development covers the build.

  • You’ll add pages and posts yourself: WordPress

The software is free. You pay for the build, hosting and any premium plugins, and the files stay yours if you change provider.

  • You want to drag every element into place: Showit

Photographers and wedding suppliers like it, but it bills in US dollars. We don't build on Showit, so a Showit designer is the right hire.

Web development on the Sunshine Coast: quote calculators, portals and after-hours enquiry handling

Some Coast agencies list 'custom plugins' or 'CRM and automation' and stop there. Here is what that looks like in practice.

  • An instant quote calculator

A pool builder in Pelican Waters or a landscaper in Buderim lets visitors pick size, materials and suburb and see an indicative range. The enquiry arrives with those answers attached, so the first call starts with numbers, not twenty questions.

  • A client portal

Property managers share statements and maintenance updates with owners behind a login; accountants collect documents without email chasing.

  • Booking with a deposit

Customers pick a time and pay a deposit in one step, through the gateway named in your quote.

  • Enquiries handled after hours

n8n or Make-style automations push each enquiry into your inbox, spreadsheet or job software, and a WhatsApp or AI chat answers common questions at 9pm and books the callback, in our A$1,950–A$23,500 band; see AI and automation.

Portals and larger systems are priced as custom software development, A$9,800–A$98,000 by scope. Apps are covered under mobile app development, and search work after launch under SEO services and SEO for small business.

Reviewing your site after knock-off: how an India-based team fits a Sunshine Coast week

Hiring a team you can't drop in on is the biggest leap here, so check the record first: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), 200+ projects since 2017, Top Rated on Upwork and founder-led delivery, plus our work. You contract with Codingclave Development LLP, the Indian firm Ashish Sharma founded in 2017. The Coast stays on AEST all year, so our hours run 2:30pm–11:30pm your time, Monday to Saturday; the Australia overview covers the rest, including paying a company in India.

  • 6–9pm: look at drafts on your phone

On a roof or with patients all day? Open the preview link after tea, send notes on WhatsApp and see them worked through by breakfast. Live calls fit 2:30–5pm.

  • What we can’t do

No on-site shoots, no face-to-face meetings, and no Australian office or ABN. A Coast photographer can shoot new images and send us the files.

  • When to choose a Coast agency instead

For footage shot on location, Chilli Group's sister company Pepper Productions sells a website photo and banner-video package from $845 + GST. To sit across a desk, Chilli meets clients at its Birtinya office. And a large custom build that needs a team on retainer and several people signing off suits a Coast agency better.

Who owns the domain, code and logins is written into your quote; our Brisbane page explains what to check on ownership.

How much should I pay a website designer on the Sunshine Coast?

Coast agencies that publish a price start at $5,000: Digital Nomads HQ from $5,000, Amara Collective from $5,500, Chilli Group usually $5,000–$15,000, and Websites That Sell from $5,000 or $150 + GST an hour (checked 6 October 2026). With us, WordPress runs A$900–A$4,300, a custom business site A$1,200–A$6,900 and a store A$2,400–A$19,500. The table above lines up all eight agencies.

How much does it cost to design a website on the Sunshine Coast, by type of site?

What's The Damage gives these Coast estimates: a landing page $800–$3,000, a 5–10 page small-business site $2,000–$6,000, a custom build $6,000–$15,000, a larger integrated site $15,000–$40,000 and an online store $5,000–$60,000+. Price climbs with page count, custom design over a theme, copy written from scratch, booking or CRM links and product numbers. They are estimates, so ask any designer to itemise their figure.

How long does it take to build a website on the Sunshine Coast?

Published Coast timelines: DigitalOn shows a first design about 1–2 weeks in; Sovira Studio quotes 2 weeks for one page to 6–8 weeks for 10 or more; Digital Nomads HQ 6–8 weeks; Social Tap about 6 weeks on average; Amara Collective 4–10 weeks; Websites That Sell usually under 3 months. Ours are 1–2 weeks for WordPress, 1–3 for a business site and 2–6 for a store, from the day your content arrives.

What are the 7 C's of a website, and how do they apply to a Sunshine Coast business?

Context, content, community, customisation, communication, connection and commerce: the seven C's from Rayport and Jaworski's e-Commerce (McGraw-Hill/Irwin, 2001). For a Coast tradie: context, a layout that works one-handed on a phone; content, real prices, your QBCC licence number and job photos; community, reviews from nearby customers; customisation, separate paths for homeowners and builders; communication, call, WhatsApp and quote buttons; connection, a link to your Google Business Profile; commerce, a deposit taken online.

Will using a web designer outside the Sunshine Coast affect my Google Maps listing?

No. Your Maps listing comes from your own Google Business Profile: the address or service area you set, your category and your customers' reviews. Where your designer works plays no part. The website backs the profile up by writing your business name, phone number and service areas exactly as the profile does. Nobody, on the Coast or elsewhere, can guarantee a ranking.

Can you rebuild my Sunshine Coast website without losing its Google rankings?

A rebuild can protect what Google already knows, though nobody can promise rankings afterwards. We list every current URL and the pages that bring visitors, keep those addresses or 301-redirect each to its new page, and carry over titles and content that work. After launch we submit the new sitemap in Search Console and watch for broken links. Positions can still move for a few weeks while Google re-reads the site.

Will my website show up in Google's AI answers and ChatGPT?

Nobody can guarantee that Google's AI Overviews or ChatGPT will mention your business. A build can make your facts easy to read: services, suburbs, prices and licence numbers in plain text rather than images, short direct answers near the top of key pages, FAQ and service structured data, and the same name and phone number everywhere you appear online.

How much does Showit cost, and do you build Showit sites on the Sunshine Coast?

Showit charges in US dollars: US$22–US$39 a month billed annually (US$259–US$470 a year), or US$27–US$49 billed monthly, checked 6 October 2026. Being a USD charge, the AUD amount on your card moves with the exchange rate. We don't build on Showit, so a Showit designer's fee sits on top. For a site edited through simple fields, our WordPress builds start at A$900.
