Overview

Your .com.au stays in your business's name. For comparison, an Adelaide cost aggregator puts a small-business site at A$2,000–6,000, often quoted +GST. We're an India-based studio working remotely; below is what that changes.

By Ashish Sharma, founder · Updated 5 October 2026

Quick answer

How much does website design cost in Adelaide in 2026?

In October 2026, a small-business website in Adelaide typically costs A$2,000–6,000 on the aggregator whatsthedamage's tiers, and AI Adelaide puts boutique agencies at A$5,000–15,000. Published packages start at A$300 for a Wix starter (Website in a Wink), A$1,200+GST for a designed one-page site (DIY Digital) and A$3,000+GST for a multi-page site (Website Adelaide). Running costs add about A$200–410 a year. Codingclave's fixed bands are A$900–A$4,300 for WordPress, A$1,200–A$6,900 for a custom business website and A$2,400–A$19,500 for an online store, ex-GST. They're lower because of an India-based cost base, not a smaller scope.

  • Small-business sites: A$2,000–6,000 (whatsthedamage)
  • Starter, DIY, one-page and four-page packages: A$300–1,650

Website design prices in Adelaide, side by side (checked October 2026)

Most Adelaide web designers publish a 'from' price or none at all. On 5 and 6 October 2026 we read the price pages that rank for Adelaide searches and copied each figure as published, adding '+GST' only where the page shows it. A 'from' price is the least a studio charges, not what most clients pay. whatsthedamage also claims Adelaide hourly rates cluster at A$80–180, against eastern-state peaks of A$250, without citing a source.

Why our band sits lower. Codingclave is an India-based studio, founded in Lucknow in 2017, with no office, staff or ABN in Australia, so our costs are India's. The scope is written down, so you can check our quote against any Adelaide quote line by line.

When a studio in Adelaide suits you better. If you want meetings in person or phone support before 3pm, choose one. If you want a fixed written price, evening calls and a staging link to review as the site is built, send us your page list.

Working with an India-based team from Adelaide: hours and contact

From first call to launch you deal with Ashish Sharma, who founded Codingclave Development LLP in Lucknow in 2017 and still leads it. You reach him on WhatsApp (+91 92771 84741), email or video call, Monday to Saturday, 10:00–19:00 India time. We have no office, staff, phone number or ABN in Australia; the process is the same in the Adelaide CBD, Glenelg, Norwood, Salisbury or Port Adelaide. South Australian daylight saving began on 4 October 2026, so the first row applies now. See how our remote model works.

Where the hours help. Video calls until midnight Adelaide time now (11pm from April), Saturdays included, and the day's progress on WhatsApp the next morning.

What you can check before you pay. 200+ projects delivered since 2017, 4.9 stars from 76 Google reviews (read them), Top Rated on Upwork, and our portfolio. Your strongest proof is your own site: you review it on a staging link as it's built.

Your domain, hosting account and code: who owns what

Ownership is cheap to settle before you sign. If a designer holds your domain or hosting, leaving can mean a new domain, a rebuild or a fee for your own files.

  • Your .com.au, in your business’s name

auDA's licensing rules require an Australian presence, such as an ABN, for the whole licence period, and a licence can be cancelled if that presence lapses. Codingclave has no Australian presence, so we can't hold your .com.au: your business registers it, and we help with the settings.

  • Hosting in an account you control

You can open the hosting account in your business's name and pay the host directly. Prefer us to run it? Our optional hosting-support plan is A$80–A$240 a month; whose account it runs on, and any minimum term or notice period, is set out in your written quote.

  • Logins, files and code at launch

The written quote lists what's handed over at launch: admin logins, site files and, for custom builds, the code repository. Take logins on a call and change the passwords on day one. On WordPress you edit text and images yourself; on a Next.js build, how you edit content is agreed in the quote.

  • Copyright and third-party licences

Ask every designer who owns copyright in the design and code once you've paid; our quote states it in writing. Premium themes, plugins and stock photos stay under their own licences, so the quote lists each one.

  • The subscription alternative

A Wix subscription is paid for as long as the site is live. Website in a Wink, for example, builds Wix sites for A$300–6,500.

Why two Adelaide quotes for the same site can differ by A$5,000

Two fair Adelaide quotes for the same site can be thousands of dollars apart. The gap rarely comes from the hourly rate; it comes from scope lines a cheap quote leaves out, such as copywriting, a custom design, revision rounds or loading the content.

  • One page or several

A one-page site puts what you do, where you work and a contact form on a single scrolling page. It suits a sole trader with one main service and costs the least. If you offer several services and want to be found for each, a page per service gives Google something specific to rank, so multi-page sites sit higher in every band.

  • How long an Adelaide website takes

Published Adelaide timelines are 4–6 weeks on average (Adelaide Web Designer), 4–8 weeks (Website Adelaide) and 3–16 weeks (WP Creative's snippet). Ours are typically 1–2 weeks for WordPress, 1–3 weeks for a business website and 2–6 weeks for a store, once your text and photos are ready.

What an Adelaide website costs each month and in year 2

The build is paid once; running costs recur while the site is live, and Adelaide quotes rarely show both. 'Self-managed' below is our sum of AI Adelaide's ranges: A$20–50 a year for a .com.au plus A$180–360 for hosting, so A$200–410 a year, paid to your registrar and host. Our figures are ex-GST; others are as published.

  • What A$80–A$240 a month buys over a A$88 bundle

Website Adelaide's A$88 a year covers domain, hosting, email and SSL. Our plan adds backups, monitoring and support, so someone watches the site and is on hand when it breaks; the quote lists what each price point covers. If you'll run updates yourself, self-managed hosting costs far less.

  • Tradie, WordPress site, self-managed

    Low end: A$900 build plus A$200 is A$1,100 in year 1, then A$200 a year. High end: A$4,300 plus A$410 is A$4,710, then A$410 a year.

  • Allied health clinic, business website with hosting-support

Low end: A$1,200 plus A$80 a month is A$2,160 in year 1, then A$960 a year. High end: A$6,900 plus A$240 a month is A$9,780, then A$2,880 a year. Add the domain; online booking is priced in the quote.

  • Café, business website, self-managed

    Low end: A$1,200 plus A$200 is A$1,400 in year 1. High end: A$6,900 plus A$410 is A$7,310. Then A$200–410 a year.

+GST, ex-GST and overseas quotes: comparing Adelaide prices fairly

Website Adelaide quotes +GST, and so does DIY Digital on its one-page and NDIS packages. The other pages in our table don't say whether their figures include GST, so ask.

What +GST adds. GST is 10%, so Website Adelaide's A$3,000+GST is A$3,300 on the invoice, and DIY Digital's A$1,450+GST tradie one-pager is A$1,595.

How to compare. If you're GST-registered, compare quotes ex-GST. If you aren't, compare what you'll actually pay, including GST, because you can't claim it back.

Our quotes. Our prices exclude GST. Codingclave is an overseas (India-based) supplier and is not registered for Australian GST. If your business is GST-registered, check with your accountant whether the reverse-charge rules apply to imported services; the ATO puts that question on the buyer, not the overseas supplier. This isn't tax advice.

10 questions to ask any Adelaide website quote

Ask every studio, ours included, and get the answers in writing.

10 questions to ask

  1. Is copywriting included? Low quotes often leave it out.
  2. How many pages, and how many revision rounds? Get both as numbers.
  3. Is the price +GST? A$3,000+GST is A$3,300.
  4. Who registers the .com.au, and in whose name? It should be your business.
  5. What do I pay each month after year 1? Hosting, domain, email and any care plan.
  6. Is it a page-builder theme, a template or a custom design? It decides how easily the site can be moved later.
  7. What does it cost to leave or migrate? Ask for files, logins and code you can take elsewhere.
  8. What is the deposit and milestone schedule? Ask what each payment is for.
  9. Is SEO a one-off set-up or an ongoing retainer? They're different products.
  10. Are photos, stock images and plugin licences extra? Some licences renew every year.

Our written quote answers all ten in one document before you pay a deposit.

Website redesign prices in Adelaide: refresh, rebuild or rescue

None of the Adelaide price pages we checked publishes a redesign price. A redesign costs less than a first build when content and structure stay. The hidden cost is moving pages: every changed URL needs a 301 redirect, or old links and Google results land on an error page.

Web developer or web designer: which one an Adelaide business needs

A web designer shapes how a site looks and reads; a web developer builds what it does: integrations, logins, stores and speed. Several providers in our table work on one platform: WordPress (Adelaide Web Designer), WordPress with Divi (Website Adelaide), Wix (Website in a Wink) or AI-built sites (AI Adelaide). That's fine for a brochure site, but a single-platform build can struggle with CRM sync, a custom checkout or a client login.

We design and develop on Next.js/React, Node.js, Laravel/PHP, WordPress/WooCommerce, Shopify, MySQL/PostgreSQL and AWS or DigitalOcean, and you deal with the founder throughout.

  • Booking and CRM integrations

Online booking, enquiries routed into a CRM or a payment step, confirmed in the written scope before you pay.

  • Shopify and WooCommerce stores

Shopify, WooCommerce or custom stores in our A$2,400–A$19,500 band. See e-commerce development for how stores are scoped.

  • Web apps, client portals and mobile apps

Logins, dashboards and client portals are custom software (A$9,800–A$98,000); see custom software development. If what you need is really a phone app, see mobile app development.

  • Core Web Vitals and speed rescue

We find what slows your pages (images, plugins, scripts or hosting) and fix it. You can check the result yourself in Google's PageSpeed Insights.

  • WordPress to Next.js migration

For a site that has outgrown its plugins, a Next.js front end keeps the content and redirects every changed URL. If WordPress still does the job, we say so.

We don't publish an hourly rate; we quote a fixed figure for a written scope. Whether you're comparing a freelancer or a development company, ask each for a fixed price against the same page list.

What to budget by Adelaide business type

Scope pointers, not quotes: the band each type of business usually falls into.

  • Tradies

A WordPress site (A$900–A$4,300) usually covers it: a page per service, the suburbs you cover, a quote form and click-to-call.

  • Allied health clinics

A business website (A$1,200–A$6,900) for practitioner profiles, service pages and online booking, scoped in the quote. Clinic needs are on our allied health page.

  • NDIS providers

Service pages, an accessible layout and a referral form; page count decides the WordPress or business-website band. See NDIS providers.

  • Cafés and restaurants

Menu, hours, location and photos fit a business website. Taking orders through your own site is a separate build; see restaurants, cafés and takeaways.

  • Real estate agencies

Listings, agent profiles and appraisal forms put most sites in the business-website band or above, depending on the listings feed. See real estate agencies.

  • Stays and cellar doors in the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale

A B&B near Mount Barker or a cellar door needs photos and a booking or enquiry path. Website design in the Adelaide Hills costs the same as in the city, since we work remotely. See our accommodation page.

  • Professional and B2B firms

Accountants, lawyers and B2B suppliers usually need a business website (A$1,200–A$6,900) with service pages, staff profiles and a lead form.

How much should I pay a website designer in Adelaide?

Published Adelaide prices run from A$300 for a Wix starter to A$15,000–50,000+ for a premium agency, and a small-business site is A$2,000–6,000 on whatsthedamage's tiers. Our fixed bands are A$900–A$4,300 for WordPress and A$1,200–A$6,900 for a custom business website, ex-GST.

How long does it take to build a website in Adelaide?

Published Adelaide timelines run 4–6 weeks on average at Adelaide Web Designer, 4–8 weeks at Website Adelaide and 2–4 weeks at KC Web Design. Ours are typically 1–2 weeks for WordPress, 1–3 weeks for a custom business website and 2–6 weeks for an online store, assuming your text and photos are ready. If they aren't, we start when they arrive, or write the copy as a quoted line.

Do website prices include GST, and do I pay GST to an overseas developer?

Website Adelaide quotes +GST, so A$3,000+GST is A$3,300, and DIY Digital does the same on its one-page packages. Our prices exclude GST: Codingclave is an overseas (India-based) supplier and is not registered for Australian GST. If your business is GST-registered, check with your accountant whether the reverse-charge rules apply to imported services.

What does a website cost per month after it goes live?

Self-managed, about A$200–410 a year for a .com.au domain and hosting, which is our sum of AI Adelaide's published ranges; Website Adelaide bundles both for A$88 a year. Our optional hosting-support plan is A$80–A$240 a month. SEO retainers start from A$399 a month. Send your page list on WhatsApp and we put your year-1 and year-2 total in writing.

Who owns my domain and website if I stop paying the designer?

Whoever's name is on each account. Under auDA's rules a .com.au needs an Australian presence, such as an ABN, so register it in your business's name, and make sure the hosting, logins and files are yours or handed over. With us the domain is always in your name and the quote lists what's handed over at launch.

How much does a website redesign cost in Adelaide?

None of the Adelaide price pages we checked publishes one. With us, a WordPress refresh falls in the A$900–A$4,300 band, a rebuild from Wix, Squarespace or old WordPress in A$1,200–A$6,900, and a store re-platform in A$2,400–A$19,500. A hacked or slow site is priced after we audit it, starting with a free consultation.

Is Wix or Squarespace cheaper than paying a web designer in Adelaide?

In year one, often. AI Adelaide puts DIY builder plans at A$200–600 a year, so A$600–1,800 over three years plus your own time, for as long as the site is live. Website in a Wink builds on Wix for A$300–6,500. A site you own costs more up front and less to leave.

Is it safe to pay a web developer in India from Australia?

Check three things before paying anyone overseas. The quote should fix the price, scope and payment stages in writing before any deposit; ours does. Your .com.au must be in your business's name under auDA's rules, so the domain never depends on the developer. And look for proof you can verify: Codingclave has delivered 200+ projects since 2017, holds 4.9 stars from 76 Google reviews and is Top Rated on Upwork.
