Quick answer
How much does it cost to hire a WordPress developer in Adelaide?
Hiring a WordPress developer in Adelaide typically costs A$3,000–10,000 for a standard site, A$500–3,000 to fix a broken or hacked one and A$100–500 a month for care, with freelancers at A$80–180 an hour (whatsthedamage, checked 6 Oct 2026; GST basis not stated). Five of the six Adelaide studio pages we read print no price; Website Adelaide is the exception, from A$3,000 + GST for a sole-trader site. Codingclave quotes fixed bands: A$900–A$4,300 for a WordPress site, usually 1–2 weeks; WooCommerce within the A$2,400–A$19,500 e-commerce band, 2–6 weeks; and A$80–A$240 a month for care that includes hosting.
- One fixed AUD figure, in writing, before work begins
- A staging link to review before anything goes live
- Your business holds the .com.au and licence keys
- Payment stages set out in your written quote, never before it

What Adelaide WordPress work costs in 2026: the published benchmark and our fixed bands
We read the WordPress pages of five Adelaide studios on 6 Oct 2026: Digital Noir, Boylen, EDynam, Llamablue and websiteservice.com.au. None of those five gives a figure for a build, a repair, monthly care or an hour of developer time. Website Adelaide's price page, in the next table, prints a from-price for a sole-trader site. The only Adelaide WordPress price bands we found sit on whatsthedamage, a cost guide that passes enquiries to agencies and doesn't build sites itself. Its bands are in the second column; the third is where a written Codingclave quote would land.
| Job | Adelaide benchmark (whatsthedamage) | Codingclave | How we price it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard WordPress site | A$3,000–10,000 | A$900–A$4,300 | Fixed quote, 1–2 weeks |
| Custom theme | A$8,000–25,000 | A$1,200–A$6,900 (business website band); larger custom builds quoted after scoping | Scope decides; quoted in writing |
| Redesign | A$3,000–10,000 | A$900–A$4,300 | After a site check |
| Migration to WordPress | A$2,000–8,000 | Quoted after a site check | One fixed figure once we've seen the site |
| Fix or hacked-site rescue | A$500–3,000 | Quoted after a site check | One fixed figure once we've seen the site |
| WooCommerce shop | Not published as a separate band | A$2,400–A$19,500 | 2–6 weeks |
| Care, hosting, maintenance | A$100–500 a month | A$80–A$240 a month | Inclusions listed in the quote |
| Hourly | A$80–180 | We don't sell hours | Fixed price per job |
Why the benchmark bands are so wide. whatsthedamage says its numbers come from "90+" Australian trade pricing sources, yet it names none of them, and it never says whether GST is in or out. Use the column as a sense check, not a quote. Our figures are ex-GST; comparing them with a +GST quote is explained on the Adelaide website prices page.

WordPress developers in Adelaide compared: build method, prices and track record (checked 6 Oct 2026)
These are the providers Google showed for Adelaide WordPress searches on 6 Oct 2026, in the organic results and the map. Each row records only what the business published, or what Google showed beside it, that day; "none" means we looked and found no figure. No Adelaide studio in the table prints an hourly rate.
| Provider | Base | How they build | Build price published | Care or hosting price | Track record shown | Google reviews shown |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Digital Noir / KWP+Partners | Adelaide | Custom-designed WordPress | None | None | On WordPress since late 2006; merged into KWP+Partners in 2022 | Not shown |
| Boylen | Fullarton | Gutenberg; hand-built or bought templates | None | None | 30+ years in business; claims a WP Engine 2025 Agency Partner Award | 5.0 (66) |
| EDynam | Grote St, CBD | WordPress + Elementor (its own site) | None | None | Over 14 years (its homepage) | 5.0 (195) |
| Website Adelaide | Maslin Beach | WordPress + Divi | Sole-trader sites from A$3,000 + GST | Hosting A$88 a year, no lock-in | 10+ years (map listing) | 5.0 (149) |
| websiteservice.com.au | Adelaide | WordPress and WooCommerce | None ("reasonable fees") | None | ABN shown; owner's corporate-IT background | Not shown |
| Llamablue | Glen Osmond | WordPress | None | Hosting tiers, no prices | Operating since 2009 | Not shown |
| WP Creative | Sydney, (02) number | WordPress | Custom from about A$10,000 (its cost guide) | Not checked | 10+ years and 1,200+ brands (its search result) | 5.0 (100) in its search result |
| Codingclave | Remote, Lucknow, India | Block themes, page builders, WooCommerce | A$900–A$4,300 | A$80–A$240 a month | Since 2017; 200+ projects | ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews) |
When a studio you can walk into is the better pick. If you want workshops around a table, one invoice from an Australian business showing its ABN and GST, or a provider that turns up in Google's map results near you, Boylen in Fullarton or EDynam on Grote St will suit you better than we can. Codingclave has no office, staff, phone line or ABN anywhere in Australia. What you get instead is a written scope, a staging link for every change and video calls from 3pm your time into the evening. Proof you can check: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), 200+ projects since 2017, Top Rated on Upwork, founder-led delivery (about Ashish) and past work.

Employ, freelance, agency or remote studio: Adelaide numbers for each route
Getting WordPress work done in Adelaide takes one of four routes: a staff member, a contractor for a week, a studio, or a remote team. Each is set out below with Adelaide figures. PayScale's salary covers web developers in general, because we found no WordPress-only salary figure for Adelaide.
| Route | How it's priced | Adelaide figure | Source | What you still handle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Employ a developer | Salary | A$69,649 average (range A$56k–A$89k) + 12% super ≈ A$78,000 a year before leave, equipment and management. One SEEK graduate ad: A$70k–A$85k | PayScale (20 profiles, updated Aug 2025), ATO, SEEK | Management, leave cover, hosting, licences |
| Freelancer | Hourly | A$80–180 an hour | whatsthedamage | Scope creep; one person if they're sick or booked out |
| Adelaide agency | Quote | Mostly not published; benchmark A$3,000–10,000 for a standard site | whatsthedamage | Comparing quotes with no price list to test them against |
| Codingclave | Fixed per job | A$900–A$4,300 a site; care A$80–A$240 a month | Our bands | Approving staging; whose account the hosting runs on is set out in your quote |
Reading the numbers. A$78,000 a year buys one person's time whether or not there's WordPress work that week, so employing makes sense once the site needs attention most days. A freelancer suits small, well-defined tasks, but hourly billing moves the risk to you: a 25-hour job lands anywhere between A$2,000 and A$4,500 on the Adelaide spread, so ask for a capped total.
Looking for a WordPress job rather than a developer? SEEK lists 7 Adelaide roles, Jora about 100 and LinkedIn 30 (6 Oct 2026).

A WordPress fix on Adelaide time: reported at 9am, live after close of trade
While South Australia is on daylight saving (ACDT, until 4 Apr 2027) we work 3:00pm to midnight Adelaide time, Monday to Saturday: two hours of overlap with a 9-to-5 business. The late finish suits WordPress. Changes are built on a staging copy while customers use the live site, then switched over once your doors are shut. Here is one ordinary fix, an Unley café's contact form that stopped sending, hour by hour.
| Adelaide time | What happens | Who |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00am | You send the URL and a screenshot on WhatsApp | You |
| 3:00pm | Triage, questions asked | Us |
| 3:00–5:00pm | Overlap: a short call if needed | Both |
| 5:00–8:00pm | Fix on a staging copy, staging link sent | Us |
| 6:00–9:00pm | You open the staging link and reply OK on WhatsApp (or approve next morning, and it goes live the following evening) | You |
| After close of trade (before 12:00am) | Backup taken, then the fix is pushed live | Us |
| Next morning | Written summary waiting | You read |
From 5 Apr 2027, when Adelaide drops back to ACST, move every step an hour earlier: we work 2:00pm–11:00pm and the overlap stretches to three hours.
The honest limits. Nothing gets picked up before 3pm Adelaide time (2pm in winter), and there's no Sunday work at all, so a site that falls over at 10am waits until the afternoon. Keep your host's support number and a free uptime alert for those hours. Reply-time promises are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign. The general hours table, period by period, is on the Adelaide page.

Taking over a WordPress site from another Adelaide developer: Elementor, Divi and licence keys
EDynam's own site runs on Elementor and Website Adelaide builds with Divi. Both are capable page builders, and both tie the site to a licence. Elementor Pro is billed annually with no lifetime plan, so a renewal lapsing on the old agency's card quietly ends its updates. Divi is sold as a yearly or a one-off lifetime membership, and Divi 4 stores layouts as shortcodes inside the page content, so switching the builder off leaves raw code where the design was.
Collect these before your developer leaves
- An administrator login on an email address your business controls
- The hosting account, or at least full access to it
- The domain registrar login and the domain's auth code
- Page-builder and premium-plugin licence keys held in your name, not inside the agency's account
- A recent off-site backup you can download yourself
- Your DNS and email records, so mail keeps arriving if anything moves
What a takeover involves
- Site check: WordPress, PHP and plugin versions, which builder drives the layouts, and whose account holds each licence.
- Staging copy: the whole site is cloned so nothing on the live version changes while we map it.
- Licences sorted: Elementor Pro, Divi and any premium plugins are transferred to your business or bought fresh in its name.
- Fixed quote: one written figure for the takeover plus any repairs found along the way.
When to rebuild instead
Keep the site if updates apply cleanly on staging and the design still works. Rebuild if two of these are true: updates break the layout, several plugins are abandoned, a redesign was due anyway, or the builder licence can't be recovered. A rebuild then sits in the A$900–A$4,300 WordPress band.
Every takeover includes a PHP version check, because PHP 8.2 stops receiving security fixes on 31 Dec 2026; the detail is on our national WordPress page.
With us, whose account the hosting runs on, and what's handed over if you leave, are set out in your written quote; your business holds the .com.au and the licence keys. The .com.au rules are in the Adelaide ownership section.
Developer leaving or gone quiet? WhatsApp the URL and tell us which logins you still hold.

WordPress scopes for South Australian businesses: festivals, wineries, suppliers and clinics
Four kinds of South Australian site, what each needs and the band it falls in.
Festival-season event sites (February–March)
A Kent Town gallery or a Hindmarsh venue running shows through Mad March needs an easy-to-update programme and ticket buttons that link out to the ticketing platform. To stay up on the busiest nights, the plan is a code freeze, page caching and a load check before February. No sales on the site? That's our A$900–A$4,300 WordPress band. Selling tickets, passes or merchandise directly puts it in WooCommerce, from A$2,400. For a programme platform built once and reused every year, whatsthedamage points to its custom tier, A$8,000–25,000.
Barossa, Clare, Coonawarra and Langhorne Creek wineries already on WooCommerce
Here the job is usually care: WooCommerce, payment and shipping plugins updated on staging and timed around release dates and club shipments, so nothing changes the week a new vintage goes on sale. Shipping rates by postcode are re-tested after every update, because a broken rate table can block orders to whole regions. That's the A$80–A$240 a month care band. The date-of-birth step at checkout and the licence details for selling wine online are covered on our Adelaide e-commerce websites page.
Defence and advanced-manufacturing suppliers near Osborne, Edinburgh and Tonsley
A fabricator in Elizabeth or Gawler, or a precision workshop at Mawson Lakes or out by Tonsley near Marion, mostly needs a hardened brochure site: capability statements, a form to a monitored inbox and as few plugins as possible, so fewer ways in. That sits in the WordPress band, or A$1,200–A$6,900 for a larger multi-page site. If a contract requires onshore hosting or security clearances, an Australian provider is the right call. Apps and software for these sectors are on our Adelaide app developers and custom software pages.
Allied-health and education providers
A physio in Prospect lives on its booking and intake forms, and so does a tutoring centre or a dental clinic. We build them to WCAG 2.2 level AA: every field gets a visible label, the form works by keyboard alone, and error messages say what to fix. Most of these sites fit the A$900–A$4,300 band; practice software is a separate job, covered under medical and allied health clinics.
Tell us on WhatsApp which of these is closest to your business and we'll say which band your site sits in.

Adelaide WordPress hosting and support: what care costs and what to check
Llamablue sets out Starter, Grow and Pro hosting tiers by storage and mailboxes but prints no prices, and websiteservice.com.au promises "reasonable fees". The table holds every care and hosting figure we found for Adelaide, with the question worth asking beside each.
Where to host it. Neither AWS nor DigitalOcean runs a data centre in Adelaide, so the usual homes for an Adelaide site are AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2) or Melbourne (ap-southeast-4), or DigitalOcean Sydney (SYD1). The fuller host checklist is in the national hosting section.
The hosting account is in your name
Whoever holds the account controls the site. Pay the host directly and add your developer as a user.
Backups are stored off-site
A backup on the same server dies with it. Ask where copies go and when a restore was last tested.
There’s a staging copy
Updates should be tried on a clone first. Without staging, every plugin update is a test run on your customers.
The PHP version is current
Ask which PHP version the site runs and who moves it to the next one; the deadline is on our national WordPress page.
Someone named applies the updates
"Managed" hosting often means the server is patched, not your plugins. Get in writing who updates core, theme and plugins.
Exit terms are written down
Notice period, what's handed over (backup, logins, licence keys) and any exit fee. Ask before you sign.
| Figure | Amount | Source | What to ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adelaide hosting, licences and care range | A$100–500 a month | whatsthedamage | What's included, and who applies updates? |
| Managed hosting over a budget plan | About A$30 a month more | whatsthedamage | Staging and backups included? |
| Website Adelaide hosting | A$88 a year with domain, email, SSL and cPanel, no lock-in | websiteadelaide.com | Who applies plugin and theme updates? |
| Llamablue hosting tiers | Prices not published | llamablue.com.au | Ask for the total |
| Codingclave care with hosting | A$80–A$240 a month | Our band | Inclusions, hosting region and reply times confirmed in writing for your business before you sign |
How long WordPress maintenance takes. A monthly update pass runs in this order: a fresh backup, a staging clone, core, theme and plugin updates on the clone, a visual check of the key pages, a test submission of every form (plus a test order on WooCommerce), then the push live. A lean brochure site with a handful of plugins gets through that quickly. WooCommerce, a page builder and thirty-odd plugins add something to test at every step, so the care quote states the time for your site rather than a standard figure.
Already paying for care? WhatsApp what you pay and what it includes and we'll price the same cover.
Want more enquiries once the site is healthy? That's SEO work, and nobody can guarantee rankings, us included.

WordPress in 2026: the 42.8% figure on Adelaide agency pages, and what ChatGPT can’t do
How many sites still run on WordPress
W3Techs puts WordPress on 40.1% of all websites and on 58.6% of sites whose CMS it can identify (checked 7 Oct 2026). You'll still see 42.8% on some Adelaide agency pages; that figure is an older reading. Either way, hosts and developers who know WordPress are plentiful, so it's easy to change supplier.
What ChatGPT can and can’t do for a WordPress site
It drafts page copy, suggests a plugin set-up and writes short PHP or CSS snippets quickly, and all of that still needs testing on staging. It doesn't own a hosting account, hold licence keys, run updates, take backups or answer for the site when something breaks, so those jobs still need a named person or business, agreed in writing.
Is WordPress secure?
Most WordPress break-ins come through out-of-date plugins and themes rather than core. Few plugins, current versions, two-factor admin logins and off-server backups make a hard target. The vulnerability numbers behind that are on our national WordPress page.
