Quick answer

How much does a tradie website cost in Wollongong?

As of 7 Oct 2026, published tradie website prices relevant to Illawarra businesses run from $660 plus $33 a month to $9,900 ex GST. Most local options cluster between about $1,360 and $2,270 ex GST for a one-to-five page site. Ongoing fees change the picture: a $59-a-month subscription adds up to $2,124 over three years and is never paid off. Since 90.8% of Wollongong's construction businesses have fewer than five staff, five to eight pages usually covers the work. Our WordPress band is A$900–A$4,300, with your figure fixed in a written quote.

  • Lowest upfront: $660 plus $33 a month, GST basis not stated
  • Wollongong studio packages: $1,499 to $6,800 inc GST
  • National tradie specialist: $5,000 to $9,900 ex GST
  • Codingclave: A$900–A$4,300 on WordPress, hosted wherever you choose

Thirty-six months on: what each tradie package costs once hosting is counted

Hosting or a subscription runs as long as the site is live, so each package below is carried forward 36 months on its provider's own figures; where a running cost isn't published, the total stays open. Our 24-month national comparison uses other providers.

Three exit questions for any provider: whose name is the domain in, will you export the site files on request, and what happens to the site the day I cancel? Get the answers by email before paying a deposit.

Most 5–8 page trade sites don't need our plan: host it yourself and three years costs the build plus your host's fees. With the plan we can cost more than a subscription over three years, so we aren't the cheapest route; the gap pays for a domain and code in your name and a site that changes host without a rebuild.

Send me your current quote and we'll carry it forward 36 months the same way.

Built in Lucknow, checked on your phone in Wollongong: four straight answers

One Wollongong designer's page has a section titled 'The Problem with Cheap Overseas Freelancers'. We are overseas, so here is the honest version. Codingclave Development LLP is Ashish Sharma's firm, set up in Lucknow, India in 2017 and still run by him, with no office, staff, phone line or ABN in Australia.

Four concerns Illawarra tradies raise about a remote build

4,892 construction businesses across Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama, and over half are one-person outfits

Construction is the largest industry in the Wollongong council area: 3,185 businesses actively trading at 30 June 2025, 19.6% of the total, on the latest ABS council figures. Shellharbour and Kiama add 1,707, with a higher construction share in both.

  • More trades on the same searches

Wollongong's count rose 11.9%, from 2,847 in June 2021 to 3,185 in June 2025: 338 more trade businesses on the same searches, so a general 'our services' page now sits beside sites with a page for the exact job.

  • How many pages a tradie website needs

With 90.8% of Wollongong's construction businesses under five staff, 30 or 90 pages is rarely the right size. Five to eight usually covers it: home with tap-to-call, a page per main service, an emergency or price-guide page, recent jobs, about and contact.

Construction businesses by employee count, 30 June 2025 (ABS 8165.0, Data cube 10; June 2026 counts due 18 Dec 2026). Rows may not sum to totals because ABS perturbs small cells.

Units, townhouses and Shellharbour’s $764m of non-residential work: pages beyond the domestic call-out

ABS building approvals for the year to June 2025 show where coming trade work is likely to be, and much of it isn't a homeowner ringing about one house.

  • 1,568 Wollongong dwelling approvals in 2024–25, 1,115 of them not houses

Wollongong approved 1,568 dwellings, up from 900 the year before: 1,115 units, townhouses and other non-house dwellings against 444 private houses. Builders usually subcontract that work, and strata managers look after the buildings later. A 'work for builders and strata' page stating what you subcontract, crew size, licence categories and invoicing answers what they check first.

  • Shellharbour’s $764m non-residential year

Shellharbour's non-residential approvals reached $764m of $1,058m, more than double Wollongong's $358m. A commercial page lists work types, insurance and site-induction readiness, and only what you hold; a facilities manager will ask for certificates. Port Kembla maintenance and shutdown work belongs there too, not on a suburb page written for homes.

  • Five-year housing targets of 9,200, 3,800 and 900 homes

The NSW Government's five-year targets are 9,200 homes for Wollongong, 3,800 for Shellharbour and 900 for Kiama. Don't write zone pages early: if jobs already come from newer estates around West Dapto or Shell Cove, give that zone a page with photos. Kiama approved 67 dwellings, 48 of them houses, so domestic pages lead there.

Want a builders-and-strata or commercial page on your site? Tell us what you hold and we'll plan it with you.

The searches Wollongong customers type, and the page each one needs

A trade site's page list should come from what customers type. Google's Australian autocomplete on 7 October 2026 shows the words people add after a trade and 'wollongong', and each is a different job wanting its own page.

  • Plumber website Wollongong

A burst pipe at 9pm and a bathroom rough-in next month are different callers: the emergency page leads with the number and after-hours total, planned-work pages with photos and lead times. Roof plumbing gets its own page because people search for it by name.

  • Electrician website Wollongong

Endeavour Energy distributes electricity across the Illawarra. If you hold Level 2 ASP accreditation for work on that network, or Clean Energy Council accreditation for solar, show it with the number; if not, leave it off.

  • Builder website Wollongong

A builder asks clients to trust them for months, so one page per finished project, with stages and photos, does more than a services list; the same goes for civil contractors quoting to developers. Residential work over $5,000 needs a NSW licence in the footer. Show HIA or Master Builders membership only while current.

  • Air-con and refrigeration

NSW requires a licence for this work at any value. Split pages into home installs, commercial servicing and breakdowns.

Ranking is a separate job, explained on our Wollongong SEO page.

The NSW licence line and total-price rule, worked through for a Wollongong sparkie

NSW Government guidance on building trade advertisements covers websites. Here is how it looks on a real page. General information, not legal advice.

  • The footer on every page

[Licensee or registered business name] · Lic. [number] (Electrician) · [business phone]

The category matches the work the site advertises, and it's live text rather than part of a logo image, so it reads on a phone and Google can see it.

  • Linking the number

The number links to Verify NSW, the NSW Government's lookup, so a customer can check it in one tap.

  • A price-guide line written as a total

    Hot-water system swap, northern suburbs: $[total] all-in, call-out included.

A call-out fee shown alone, with no full price beside it, breaks the partial-price rule. Travel beyond your radius is shown as a total too.

Licensing in other states is on our national tradie page. Already have a site with no licence line? Send us the URL and we'll tell you what's missing.

Service-area pages by drive zone, not a list of suburb names

Start from where your van goes and what getting there costs. The M1 runs the length of the Illawarra, so judge a zone by how long a typical job takes door to door, with traffic and parking, not by kilometres.

How it works

Five steps from a voice note to a launched trade site

Start on WhatsApp
  1. Send the basics

WhatsApp your trade, the zones you cover, your current site address and any quote you already hold.

  2. A fixed figure on paper

One number inside the band, the page list it buys, and the domain registered in your business's name.

  3. Photos and a voice note

Phone photos of jobs and a voice note on your work. We write the pages and price guides from that; you correct anything that doesn't sound like you. The quote shows whether copy is inside your figure.

  4. Staging, checked on your phone

Check the staging link on your phone after knock-off; changes are usually ready by morning. You approve the design before launch, with change rounds set in your quote.

  5. Launch and handover

We link the licence number to Verify NSW, set up Search Console and connect your Google Business Profile, which stays in your account. Every login is handed over, and the plan is optional.

Ask Ashish directly

Ask on WhatsApp

Most of my work comes from word of mouth. Do I still need a website?

Usually, yes, though a small one. A customer who gets your name from a neighbour will often search it before calling, and what they find decides whether they ring. The site confirms you're licensed, shows recent work in their area and puts your number one tap away. Five pages covers that for most Illawarra sole traders: home, main services, recent jobs, about and contact.

How long does it take to build a tradie website in Wollongong?

Published turnarounds on this search run from 48 hours for a one-page local package to about two months. A Wollongong plumbing specialist says two to four weeks for most sites, a monthly-plan studio quotes the same, and one national agency six to eight. Our WordPress builds take one to two weeks and custom builds one to three, counted from when your photos and job list arrive.

Is a $59-a-month website better than paying upfront for a trade business?

It's easier on cash flow in month one and dearer by year three. Tideloc's $59 plan has no upfront fee and covers hosting, domain, SSL and updates: $2,124 over 36 months, or $1,770 billed yearly. A five-page package at $660 plus $33 a month comes to $1,848 over the same stretch. Tideloc's page doesn't say who keeps the site or domain if you cancel, so get that in writing first.

Who owns my website and domain if I stop paying my web designer?

It depends on your agreement, so settle it in writing before work starts. Check that the domain is registered to your business, not the designer; that site files and the database will be exported on request; and what happens to the live site the day you cancel. With us, the domain is yours from day one and the code is handed over at launch. Our Wollongong web design FAQ covers leaving a designer who hosts your site.

Can I put my call-out fee on my website in NSW?

Yes, as long as the total is there too. NSW Government guidance says you can't state a price that is only part of the cost unless the single total price is also clearly stated, so a call-out fee on its own as a headline price is a risk. Write price guides as all-in totals for defined jobs. General information, not legal advice; check wording with NSW Fair Trading.

I've only got phone photos and no time to write. Can you still build my site?

Yes. Recent phone photos of your own work usually beat stock images, because customers can see the job was yours. Send them on WhatsApp with a short voice note per job: the suburb, what was done, anything unusual. We sort, crop and compress them so pages load fast, and write the pages from your notes for you to correct. Daylight shots with the job filling the frame work best.

Will a new website get my business found for 'plumber Wollongong' or 'electrician near me'?

No provider can guarantee where you'll rank or how many leads arrive, and we don't either. A well-built site gives Google a clear page for each job and zone, a fast phone layout, and business details matching your Google Business Profile. Competitive searches also take reviews, links from other local sites and time. Our Wollongong SEO page, under related pages, explains the map pack.

Do you charge GST, and how do I pay a business based in India?

Our prices are in Australian dollars and exclude GST, because Codingclave is an overseas supplier not registered for Australian GST. If your business is GST-registered, ask your accountant whether reverse-charge rules apply to imported services. The payment split and the ways you can pay are written into your quote before you sign, so nothing about money rests on a phone call.
