Overview

Most builds take one to two weeks. We work 3:30pm to 12:30am Launceston time, so job photos you send at the end of the day reach us while we're at our desks. The rented plans on page one, from $49 a month to $100 a week, add up to between $2,363 and $15,600 over three years, and every one is costed below.

By Ashish Sharma, founder · Updated 6 October 2026

Quick answer

What does a tradie website cost in Launceston over three years, and what do you keep if you stop paying?

Over 36 months, the rented tradie plans sold to Launceston range from $2,363 (Tradie Web & SEO's $49 plan plus its $599 build) to $71,700 (Dossis Domination). Owning ours on hosting you pay for comes to A$1,365–A$5,035 across the same three years, domain included and no GST charged. Bloomn's one-off build with three years of its hosting totals $4,378 inc GST. The bigger gap shows when payments stop: Tradie Web & SEO warns you lose the features it set up, while with us the .com.au and WordPress login sit in your name from day one. Hosting is in your name too if you run it yourself.

  • Cheapest three-year rental: $2,363 (Tradie Web & SEO Local Pro)
  • Dearest: $71,700 (Dossis Domination)
  • Ours, self-hosted: A$1,365–A$5,035 with the domain, no GST

*"From $599" is for a 10–15 page site on Tradie Web & SEO's pricing page. Its homepage quotes a $397 setup instead, giving $2,161, $3,889 and $14,689, so ask which applies. Dossis and Tradie Web & SEO don't state GST. We charge none: as an overseas supplier not registered for Australian GST, A$900 is the whole invoice. If you're GST-registered, ask your accountant about the reverse charge.

Like for like. Dossis Spark also covers hosting, basic SEO, Google profile optimisation and review management; Growth adds an ad account, call tracking and SMS lead alerts. Our price is the website alone. SEO or Google Ads with us is a separate A$990–A$9,800 monthly retainer, ad spend goes straight to Google, and nobody can guarantee rankings or leads.

To meet someone face to face, Wizard, Bloomn, Ebundant Online and Zest are in Launceston or elsewhere in Tasmania; our Launceston page compares their prices. With us, the .com.au and admin are yours from the start, nothing goes public until you approve it, and the price is fixed in a written scope before you pay.

  • A voice note from the Mowbray job

Record what the gas-fitting page should say while you pack up, attach photos of the board you swapped, and send it on WhatsApp.

  • A preview link with your breakfast

What we build in our evening can be waiting on a private preview link next morning, at the pace your scope sets.

2,066 construction businesses across Greater Launceston, and where the growth is

Is web design still in demand in 2026? Around Launceston, construction businesses competing for the same phone searches have grown two years running: 2,066 across the five Greater Launceston councils at June 2025, up from 1,994 in 2023. The growth sits outside the city. Meander Valley added 45 and West Tamar 23, while the City of Launceston slipped by 15.

About 1,253 employ nobody and 615 have one to four staff, so nine in ten have under five people and no one on an office phone. With more trades chasing the same searches, the site showing a checkable licence and the town name tends to get the call.

Construction businesses by council, Greater Launceston (ABS Counts of Australian Businesses, released 16 Dec 2025)
CouncilJun 2023Jun 2024Jun 2025Share of all businesses, 2025

George Town77737720.8%
Greater Launceston1,9942,0202,06618.3% of 11,320

The ABS perturbs small cells, so councils may not sum exactly. Tasmania's councils total 7,825 construction businesses, about 26% of them in Greater Launceston, and the City of Launceston outnumbers the City of Hobart's 632. June 2026 counts are due on 18 December 2026 (ABS release schedule).

Which northern Tasmanian towns get a page, inside Google’s two-hour service-area rule

Do you need suburb pages? Google's Business Profile rules set the outer edge: a service-area business hides its address, and its area shouldn't run past roughly two hours' drive from base. Inside that, a town earns a page from two things: the trade count in its council and real jobs you can show there.

Towns a Launceston trade can list on Google: council construction counts (ABS, June 2025) and drive times (OSRM estimates, 7 Oct 2026; check Google Maps)

Google allows up to 20 service areas, by town or postcode and never as a radius; a virtual office or PO box can't be the base. An example 20 for a Launceston plumber: Launceston, Kings Meadows, Newstead, Trevallyn, Youngtown, Riverside, Legana, Exeter, Beaconsfield, George Town, Prospect Vale, Hadspen, Westbury, Deloraine, Longford, Evandale, Campbell Town, Scottsdale, Devonport and Latrobe. Drop any you never visit.

The map pack draws on those profiles, so yours must be verified in your name at your real yard or home. We can't hold a Launceston profile for ourselves, because we have no address there.

Your licence and insurance line after the CBOS split (from 1 October 2026)

From 1 October 2026, CBOS's work moved to two agencies, Consumer Affairs Tasmania and Building Standards Tasmania, so a "licensed by CBOS" footer is out of date. Check which one now handles your trade on their sites. Tasmania's consumer-protection table says electrical, plumbing and gas licensees needn't list a licence number in advertising (security licensees and motor vehicle traders must), but must produce the licence on demand.

Tasmanian trades: regulator from 1 Oct 2026, advertising rule and insurance minimum (not legal advice)
TradeRegulator now (confirm on the agency's site)Licence no. required in ads?Insurance minimumWhat we'd put on the site
Electrical contractor or workerConsumer Affairs Tasmania (its menu lists electricians and gas fitters)No$5m Public and Products Liability for contractors; workers only for unpaid prescribed workLicence number plus a register link
Plumbing contractor or practitionerBuilding Standards TasmaniaNo$5m Public and Products LiabilityLicence number, register link, insurance line if true
Gas fitting contractor or workerConsumer Affairs TasmaniaNo$5m for contractorsLicence number plus a register link
Builder (General Construction, incl. Domestic)Building Standards TasmaniaNot stated (that entry gives no detail)$5m public liability plus Contract Works coverLicence class, number and register link

What we'd show anyway: the number as live text in every footer, the right regulator, and a link to the public licence register of current electricians, plumbers, gas fitters and builders. Add "insured to $5m" only if your policy says so.

Not legal advice: the consumer-protection table was last updated on 7 July 2023, so confirm with Consumer Affairs Tasmania or Building Standards Tasmania. Mainland rules differ: see Victoria, NSW, Queensland and WA.

Send your licence details for a check of your licence line

What a seven-page tradie site contains, page by page (a worked example)

An example scope, not a client: a two-person electrical business in Prospect Vale working mostly the Meander Valley side of Launceston.

Example scope: a Prospect Vale electrician's seven-page WordPress site (an example, not a client)
PageWhat goes on itWhy a homeowner cares
1. HomeCall bar, licence line, three recent jobs with suburbsSettles "can they do it, and are they licensed" on one screen
2. Switchboards and rewiringBoard upgrades, safety switches, photosA "switchboard upgrade Launceston" search lands on exactly that
3. Lighting, power points and smoke alarmsSmall jobs listed plainlyShows you take small jobs, not only rewires
4. EV charger installsWhat a site visit checks before quotingAnswers "will my board cope" before they ring
5. Towns: Prospect Vale, Hadspen, Westbury, DeloraineA real job from each townProves the Meander Valley side is covered
6. Licence, insurance and aboutRegister link, insurer if they agree, who turns upLets a careful homeowner check you first
7. Photo quote formSuburb, job type, photo, callback timeA request you can price from the photo

Where a site lands inside A$900–A$4,300 depends mostly on page count and who writes. One to three pages with your own photos and words sits toward A$900; seven pages like this, with our copy, around the middle; ten or more pages or a booking add-on toward A$4,300. The written scope names one figure before any payment.

The five golden rules, rewritten for a Launceston trade website

What are the five golden rules of a website? For a trade business, five checks a homeowner makes with one thumb.

  • 1. Tap-to-call before any scrolling

A call button on every page that stays in reach, with the number as text any phone can dial.

  • 2. A licence and insurance line people can check

Number, regulator and register link, as in the licence section.

  • 3. Only the towns you actually drive to

Inside Google's two-hour limit, with a page only where real work stands behind it (town table).

  • 4. Dated job photos with the suburb named

"Riverside deck, Aug 2026" beats any stock image and shows the work is recent.

  • 5. A photo quote form that works one-thumbed

Name, suburb, job type, photo, callback time. Job-app hand-offs and missed-call text-back are on our national tradie page.

09of 9

What you own on day one, and what nobody can promise you

Of the two sellers above that rent sites by the week or month, Tradie Web & SEO says what you lose on cancelling and Dossis Digital doesn't.

  • The .com.au, registered by you

auDA licenses .com.au names to businesses with an Australian presence, such as an ABN. We have no ABN or office in Australia, so your business registers the domain and we never hold it.

  • Hosting and WordPress admin in your name

Self-managed hosting is your account, with us added as a user, and the admin sits on your email. On our plan, how hosting moves to you is written into the scope.

  • No lead or ranking guarantee

Dossis Digital offers "5 real leads in 90 days" or free work plus a $500 cheque. We don't offer one, because no one controls demand or Google's ordering. We control the call button, a checkable licence line, town pages backed by real jobs, a tidy Google profile and a site you keep. See finished builds on our work page and feedback on our reviews page.

How much should I pay a website designer for a trade business in Launceston?

Tradie builds on this results page run from nothing up front (Dossis Digital's $100-a-week plan) to $2,900 + GST (Bloomn), with plans from $49 a month to $450 a week. Ours is A$900–A$4,300 for a WordPress site you own, no GST charged. Compare three-year totals and what you keep when payments stop.

What is the average cost of a tradie website in Australia?

Australian agencies usually quote A$3,000–A$10,000 for a 5–10 page site, according to WP Creative's August 2026 figures. Tradie builds published on this Launceston results page sit lower, from $599 plus a monthly fee to $2,900 + GST. A national average mixes one-page rentals with large custom builds, so compare like for like.

Is web design still in demand in 2026 around Launceston?

For trades, yes. The ABS counted 2,066 construction businesses across the five Greater Launceston councils in June 2025, up from 1,994 in 2023, with Meander Valley alone adding 45. Nine in ten have fewer than five people, so the website often does the job an office would, and one that shows your licence and towns gives a homeowner a reason to ring.

What are the five golden rules for a tradie website?

For a trade business: a tap-to-call button before any scrolling; a licence and insurance line naming your regulator and linking the public register; only the towns you really drive to; dated job photos captioned with the suburb; and a one-thumb quote form that takes a photo. Each removes a doubt before the call.

Do Tasmanian electricians and plumbers have to show their licence number on their website?

Not under Tasmania's consumer-protection requirements table, which lists "No" for licence numbers in advertising for electrical, plumbing and gas licensees, though they must produce the licence on demand. We'd show the number anyway, name your regulator and link the public register. This isn't legal advice, and the table was last updated in July 2023.

Is a $100-a-week tradie website plan better than paying once?

It can suit a sole trader who wants hosting, basic SEO and Google profile work handled with no upfront bill. Over 36 months, though, $100 a week is $15,600, and Dossis Digital's page doesn't say what happens to the site on cancelling. Our WordPress build takes one to two weeks and totals A$1,365–A$5,035 over three years with your own hosting and domain.

Can a web designer outside Tasmania get my trade business into the Google map pack?

No designer anywhere controls the map pack. It draws on Google Business Profiles, so yours must be in your name and verified at a real base. On 6 October 2026 this search showed Tradie Web and SEO, Ebundant Online and Zest, each rated 5.0 on 11 to 54 reviews. We can tidy your profile but can't guarantee a place.

What do I keep if I cancel a weekly or monthly tradie website plan?

Ask in writing before you sign. Tradie Web & SEO says that on cancelling "you will lose access to all the features we set up for you", though its $49 plan keeps the site live and you register the domain. Dossis Digital's Launceston page doesn't say. With us, the .com.au and WordPress admin are yours from day one.
