Quick answer

How much does a tradie website cost in Melbourne?

Five of the provider pages we checked on 7 Oct 2026 print a price. VisualWeb charges $1,699 + GST for a one-page site, $2,490 + GST for up to seven pages and from $7,500 + GST for custom work. CoreWebHub's Starter is $1,200 for five pages and The Lead Gen Lab starts at about $1,200, neither stating GST. 5 Star Tradie rents sites from $237 a month, or $2,844 across year one. Codingclave's WordPress builds start from A$900 and custom builds from A$1,200, with optional hosting and care from A$80 a month. For a sole trader under the $75,000 threshold who isn't registered for GST, '+ GST' is money you don't get back: that $1,699 page costs $1,868.90.

  • Six of the ten Melbourne-ranking providers publish no price
  • Rented sites: check who keeps the site in year one
  • Electricians: REC number on all promotional material (ESV)
  • Domestic builders: name and registration number on ads and quotes
  • Fixed AUD quote before any work starts

What Melbourne trade website designers charge, checked 7 Oct 2026

Google showed ten providers for this search on 6 October 2026: nine organic results and one business card. We opened each the next day, plus EG Solutions' Melbourne page, and copied every figure as printed. Only four of the ten print a price.

A rental with no setup fee overtakes most of these entry builds inside 12 months, and three of the five priced pages leave GST unstated. None mentions Victoria's REC or registration display rules; the next section sets them out. Small-business website prices across Melbourne are on our Melbourne price guide.

What Victoria expects on a tradie website: REC numbers, BPC registration, Home Warranty and deposits

In Victoria, a registered electrical contractor's promotional material, website included, must carry its REC number, and a registered domestic builder's advertising must show the practitioner's name and registration number; single-trade painters, tilers and plasterers need no BPC registration line. Electricians answer to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV); building practitioners and plumbers are registered by the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC), successor to the Victorian Building Authority.

  • Footer licence line

Selectable text in every footer: business name, trade and your REC or BPC registration number. A domestic builder's line adds the practitioner's name, since ss169H–169I ask for both.

  • ‘Check me’ register links

A small link beside the number opens the ESV register or BPC's Find and check a practitioner page, so a homeowner comparing quotes can confirm you in a few taps.

  • Quote-page wording a builder can stand behind

Deposits inside the 10% or 5% cap, a note that eligible contracts over $20,000 signed from 1 July 2026 carry Home Warranty insurance, and your name and registration number repeated, because a written quote counts as a written offer.

Do Melbourne tradie website prices include GST? It turns on your registration

None of the pages we checked explains what '+ GST' means for a one-person trade business. The answer depends on whether you're registered.

  • Not registered for GST

Registration only becomes compulsory at $75,000 GST turnover (business.gov.au), and an unregistered sole trader can't claim the 10% back. VisualWeb's $1,699 + GST landing page then costs $1,868.90, and its $2,490 + GST seven-page site $2,739. Our quote, from A$900, is the whole bill, because we add no GST. Where a price is silent on GST, ask in writing.

  • Registered for GST

You'll normally claim the GST back as a credit, so compare quotes ex GST. The note under our price table sets out our position; your accountant can say whether reverse-charge rules on imported services apply to you.

$237 a month or one payment: two years of Melbourne offers, added up

Renting suits someone who wants zero upfront cost, or is still testing whether a site brings in work; 5 Star Tradie's free homepage design is a fair way to find out. Buying suits a tradie keeping the site for years: by month 24 Essential has cost $5,688, against from A$2,820 for our build with hosting and care at the bottom of our band. At the top of our bands the sum can flip (A$4,300 plus the A$240 plan is A$10,060), so total your actual quotes.

Where Melbourne’s trade businesses are, and which suburb pages your jobs can support

Melbourne's construction businesses cluster in the outer growth councils, not the inner city. ABS counts for June 2025 put Casey ahead of every Victorian council, and in this table it also added the most in a year. Greater Melbourne gained 105,030 people in 2024-25, the largest increase of any capital.

  • Growth corridors

New estates in Rockbank–Mount Cottrell (+4,602 people in 2024-25), Mickleham–Yuroke (+4,145), Fraser Rise–Plumpton (+4,064) and Clyde North–South (+3,771) are where fencing, driveway, landscaping, blinds and solar work comes from once the keys are handed over.

  • Established suburbs

In Monash, Kingston and Brimbank more of the work is on existing houses: renovations, rewiring, restumping and bathrooms. A page there earns trust by showing the kind of house you fix, photographed on the job.

  • The test before any suburb page goes up

Build one only when you can fill it with work you did there: real photos, what the job involved, your travel time. If only the suburb name changes, leave it out. Google's spam policies class pages 'targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page' as doorway abuse, whatever a provider selling fifty suburb pages says.

One page or seven: sizing a site for a one-person trade business

Of Victoria's 126,807 construction businesses, 82,851 (65.3%) employ no one (ABS, June 2025), so the typical buyer works alone. VisualWeb is the only provider in our check with a one-off price for a single page: $1,699 + GST. With us a one-pager is quoted from A$900, the exact figure fixed in your written quote.

  • One page is enough when...

you work one trade in one patch of suburbs and most jobs come from referrals. The page proves you're real when someone given your name looks you up.

  • Five to seven pages pay their way when...

you offer distinct services (hot water, drains and gas), work across two or three councils with real jobs in each, or take emergency work people search for at night.

  • What a one-pager still needs

The Victorian licence line, a quote form that takes photos, and a call and WhatsApp bar pinned to the bottom of the phone screen.

  • Already getting work from hipages or Facebook?

Keep it coming, but those enquiries arrive on someone else's platform and terms. Our national page weighs your own site against lead platforms.

Three example plans for Melbourne trade sites

Example scopes, not client work: they show how the page list shifts with trade and council. Each would be quoted inside our WordPress band (A$900–A$4,300), the exact figure in writing.

  • A concreter working across Casey

BPC registration line and register link; driveway, slab and exposed-aggregate pages; a gallery of finished jobs in Clyde North and Cranbourne; a quote form asking for site photos and access details. Suburb pages wait until there are several finished jobs to show.

  • A Monash electrician holding a REC

REC number in header and footer with the ESV register link; switchboard, safety-switch and EV-charger pages; a rewiring page for older Glen Waverley and Clayton homes; a call button that stays on screen.

  • A painter covering Wyndham

One page: services, finish close-ups, a link to Google reviews and a quote form that takes room photos. No builder registration line, since painting is single-trade work. Quoted from A$900.

Send your trade and main council, and your quote comes with a page list drawn up this way.

A team in India, a Melbourne job site: hours, ownership and paying safely

Codingclave isn't in Melbourne. Codingclave Development LLP is a founder-led studio Ashish Sharma started in Lucknow in 2017, and Melbourne trade sites are built remotely over WhatsApp (+91 92771 84741), email and video calls. Our Monday-to-Saturday hours overlap a 9-to-5 Melbourne day by just 1.5 hours now and 2.5 hours from April, so the real window is after you knock off (Melbourne time zone).

  • An offshore team, said plainly

No Melbourne office, Australian phone line or ABN. The WhatsApp number starts +91, so expect messages, voice notes and booked video calls rather than a visit to the yard.

  • Ownership and paying safely

You see a fixed AUD figure before anything is paid, and the domain is registered in your business name. Hosting set-up, code and content ownership, payment staging and methods are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign.

  • Support after launch

Optional hosting and care at A$80–A$240 a month, or host it yourself. How long fixes are covered, and how quickly we reply, go into the written agreement.

  • Proof you can check

How it works

How a Melbourne trade site gets built, brief to launch

Start on WhatsApp
  1. WhatsApp brief

Your trade, the councils you cover, your REC or registration number, any current site and three recent job photos. A voice note is fine.

  2. Fixed AUD quote in writing

One figure, the scope and the page list, so 'finished' is defined before you agree.

  3. Staging build

A private link with the licence line, register links and quote form in place from the first draft. Nothing goes live until you sign off.

  4. Evening review rounds

Send changes once you're off the tools; we work through them in our Melbourne-evening hours.

  5. Launch and handover

A test enquiry goes through the live form to confirm it reaches your inbox, then the logins are handed over.

How long does a tradie website take in Melbourne?

Our WordPress trade sites take 1–2 weeks and custom builds 1–3 weeks once we have your photos, licence details and page list. On the pages we checked on 7 Oct 2026, VisualWeb quotes a week for a landing page and 2–3 weeks for seven pages, The Lead Gen Lab 2–4 weeks, Make My Website 4–8 weeks and Digital Nomads HQ 6–8 weeks. Waiting on photos and wording is what usually stretches a build.

Do Melbourne electricians and builders have to show their REC or registration number online?

Electricians holding a REC: yes. Energy Safe Victoria requires the REC number on all promotional materials, and a website is promotional material. Registered domestic builders must show the practitioner's name and registration number on advertising and written offers under ss169H–169I of the Building Act 1993, web pages and social posts included. Single-trade painters, tilers and plasterers have no BPC registration to show. General information, not legal advice.

Should I make a separate page for every Melbourne suburb I work in?

Only for suburbs where you can show real work: job photos, what you did and how far it is from your base. Google's spam policies count pages aimed at particular cities that funnel visitors to one page, and substantially similar pages that sit closer to search results than a browsable site structure, as doorway abuse. Three to five genuine area pages are a safer bet than fifty generated ones.

Is a $237-a-month tradie website better than paying once?

It depends how long you'll keep the site. 5 Star Tradie's Essential plan totals $2,844 in year one and $5,688 over two years by simple sum, and the site stays with them if you leave inside 12 months. Our WordPress build with hosting and care from A$80 a month comes to from A$2,820 over two years at the bottom of our band. Renting suits someone who wants to pay nothing upfront.

Who owns my website and domain if I leave my web designer?

Whatever your agreement says, so read it before paying. VisualWeb states you own the site and domain. 5 Star Tradie keeps the site if you leave in the first 12 months and hands the files over after 12 paid months, with the domain and Google profile in your name from day one. With us the domain is registered in your business name, and code and content ownership is written into the agreement.

Which website builder is best for tradesmen?

For a sole trader starting out, a DIY builder such as Wix or Squarespace, or the site bundled with a job app, can work if you'll update it yourself. Once you want suburb pages backed by real jobs, a photo quote form and the Victorian licence line set properly, a paid WordPress build usually fits better. Our national tradie page compares the builders and covers ServiceM8 and Tradify quote forms.

Can a web team in India work around a Melbourne tradie's day?

Mostly in your evenings. We have no Melbourne office, phone line or ABN. Until daylight saving ends we're online Monday to Saturday from 3:30pm to 12:30am AEDT, then 2:30pm to 11:30pm AEST from 5 April 2027. That's only 1.5 hours, later 2.5, inside a 9-to-5 day, but it covers the stretch after knock-off: send job photos from the ute and changes are usually on your staging link by the next working morning.

Will a new website get my trade business into the Melbourne map pack?

Not on its own, and nobody can guarantee rankings or leads. Map results come from Google Business Profiles, so you need a verified profile in your name with honest service areas. A good site supports it with pages that match what customers search for and a clear way to ask for a quote. Our Melbourne SEO page explains what the map pack depends on and what SEO costs.
