Quick answer
How much does a tradie website cost in Canberra, and what should the quote spell out?
Printed Canberra tradie prices run from A$1,750 + GST (Websites For Tradies, an Adelaide firm with a Canberra page) to A$4,800 at the top of DevLuxme's starter range in Belconnen. Plentify asks A$3,900 upfront, or rents a site at A$180 a month plus A$500 setup on a 12-month minimum, which adds up to A$4,820 over two years (prices checked 7 Oct 2026). Whoever you pick, the quote should name the GST basis, any minimum term, who keeps the domain and code if you walk away, and the week the site goes live. Ours: from A$900, paid once, no GST added and no minimum term on the build.
- WordPress with us: A$900–A$4,300, live in 1–2 weeks
- Custom-coded with us: A$1,200–A$6,900, live in 1–3 weeks
- 2 of the 3 tradie price lists published for Canberra don't say whether GST is included
- ACT licensed trades must show their licensed name and number in ads (s 83)

What Canberra tradie web designers charge, with GST, lock-in and exit spelt out
Of six providers ranking for this search on 7 October 2026, three print a tradie price and three publish none. For a five-page trade site, the published range is A$1,750 + GST to A$4,800, build only.
The real bill also turns on GST, lock-in, what stays yours if you leave, and the wait. None of the six pages we checked sets those side by side.
| Provider (base) | Published price | GST basis | Minimum term | If you leave | Build time | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plentify subscription (Canberra) | A$180 a month + A$500 setup; five pages, hosting and edits included | Not stated | 12 months | Not stated | About 4 weeks | plentify.au |
| Plentify lump sum (Canberra) | A$3,900 + A$40 a month hosting; edits A$70 a month extra | Not stated | None stated | Code is "yours forever" | About 4 weeks | plentify.au |
| DevLuxme starter (Belconnen) | A$2,500–A$4,800 | Not stated | Not stated | Accounts created in your ABN's name | Not stated | devluxme.com.au |
| DevLuxme full build (Belconnen) | A$5,000–A$9,500 with branding and ads set-up; marketing from A$550 a month | Not stated | Not stated | As for the starter | Not stated | devluxme.com.au |
| Websites For Tradies (Unley, SA) | A$1,750 + GST once; hosting priced per client | Ex GST (A$1,925 incl.) | None stated; hosting on 30 days' notice | Owned outright once paid | About 14 days | websitesfortradies.net.au |
| Project Simple (Canberra, since 2010) | No price published | n/a | n/a | Not published | Not published | Tradie page |
| Synergy Labs; Digital Nomads HQ (Mooloolaba, QLD) | No price on either page | n/a | n/a | Not published | Synergy: not published; DNHQ: 6 weeks from full scope | Synergy Labs; DNHQ |
| Codingclave WordPress (remote, Lucknow) | A$900–A$4,300, paid once | None added; see the GST line under our prices | None on the build | Domain in your ABN; code and logins yours at launch, per your written quote | 1–2 weeks | Our prices |
| Codingclave custom-coded | A$1,200–A$6,900, paid once | As above | None on the build | As above | 1–3 weeks | Our prices |
The cheapest printed build is from Websites For Tradies, which works from Adelaide, and published waits run from about 14 days to six weeks.
Still worth having a site in 2026? In the ACT, yes. The ABS counted 6,789 construction businesses in the territory at 30 June 2025, and a homeowner weighing three quotes checks your site, reviews and Access Canberra register entry before ringing. The site is where your licence line, job photos and quote form live.
Wix, Squarespace or a job-app site builder can do for a sole trader starting out: see builder or build, two-year costs across Australia and own site versus lead platforms like hipages. General Canberra figures, Clutch's included: what Canberra web designers publish.

Twelve and 24 months on: what each Canberra option adds up to
A monthly plan looks cheaper in week one, and sometimes stays cheaper. These totals use each provider's own figures, GST treated as each states it.
| Option | Upfront | Monthly | 12-month total | 24-month total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plentify subscription | A$500 | A$180 | A$2,660 | A$4,820 |
| Plentify lump sum + hosting | A$3,900 | A$40 | A$4,380 | A$4,860 |
| Plentify lump sum + hosting + edits add-on | A$3,900 | A$110 | A$5,220 | A$6,540 |
| Websites For Tradies | A$1,925 incl. GST | Hosting, price not published | A$1,925 + hosting | A$1,925 + hosting |
| Codingclave WordPress + optional plan | A$900–A$4,300 | A$80–A$240 | A$1,860–A$7,180 | A$2,820–A$10,060 |
| Codingclave WordPress on your own hosting | A$900–A$4,300 | Your host bills you directly | A$900–A$4,300 + your host's bill (paid to them, not us) | Build + two years of your host's bill |
Read the subscription row fairly. Over two years it costs about what the lump sum with hosting does, edits included. The open question is what you hold in month 25 if you stop paying: see the exit checklist.
If "not stated" means ex GST. Plentify's A$3,900 becomes A$4,290 and A$180 a month becomes A$198; DevLuxme's A$2,500 floor becomes A$2,750. A sole trader who isn't GST-registered can't claim that back, so ask in writing. We add none, as an overseas supplier not registered for GST here (detail under our prices).
Where we cost more. Our optional A$80–A$240 plan is dearer than Plentify's A$40 hosting, and most of our 24-month range is that plan. Skip it and host on your own account: two years with us is then the build price plus your host's bill.
Send us the quote you've got for our figure on the same pages.

Your ACT licence number on the website: what section 83 asks for
In the ACT, a licensed builder, electrician, plumber, gasfitter or drainer must show the name on their licence and their licence number in every ad, and we treat a trade website as one (s 83; up to A$800 for an individual or A$4,050 for a company).
The Construction Occupations (Licensing) Act 2004 doesn't name websites, but a page selling your services reads as an ad, and none of the Canberra tradie pages we checked mention the rule. This is our plain reading, not legal advice.
Which trades it covers
Section 7 lists ten construction occupations: builder, building assessor, building surveyor, drainer, electrician, gasfitter, gas appliance worker, plumber, plumbing plan certifier and works assessor. Painters, tilers and landscapers aren't listed, so section 83 doesn't apply to them; other rules still might.
What the ad has to show
The name exactly as recorded on the licence, the licence number, and for a corporation its ACN. A partnership shows its licensed name and number (s 83(2)). Trade under another name? Put the licensed one beside it.
The penalty
Up to 5 penalty units: at A$160 a unit for an individual and A$810 for a corporation (Legislation Act 2001, s 133), that is A$800 for a sole trader or A$4,050 for a company. It is strict liability, so not meaning to leave the line off is no defence.
Where we put it
A slim strip under the mobile header, every page footer, the quote-form confirmation and its email, plus a copy-ready line for your Google profile, hipages and directories. Put the same line on vans, business cards and quote PDFs: the Act's examples run from business cards and vehicle signage ('Jo Jones licensed plumber') to directory entries. NSW-side pages need your NSW detail too.
Let customers check you
Access Canberra's public registers list builders, electricians, gasfitters, plumbers, drainers and other licence holders, showing expired, suspended or cancelled licences and disciplinary action under a Details tab. Before launch we match your site to your entry. If you hold public liability cover, our own tip is an "insured, certificate on request" line. On Google Local Services Ads, keep name and licence details identical too (Google Ads in Canberra).
Not sure your site passes? Ask us to check your licence line and you'll hear what's missing against section 83 and your register entry.

Gas-to-electric and Sustainable Household Scheme jobs: the service pages Canberra trades should add
Since 8 December 2023, new gas network connections have been blocked in residential, commercial and community-facility zones. Industrial zones are excluded and existing meters stay; new buildings caught by the rule are meant to be all-electric.
The Sustainable Household Scheme, with Brighte as lender, offers ACT households A$2,000–A$20,000 at 3% over up to 10 years; returning borrowers are capped at A$15,000. It covers batteries and EV chargers; reverse-cycle heating and cooling, hot-water heat pumps and efficient electric cooktops; electric vehicles and e-bikes; and ceiling insulation. Check the current list before quoting it. Rooftop solar has been off the household list since 1 July 2025.
| Trade | Page to build | Photos to show |
|---|---|---|
| Plumber | Heat pump hot water replacing a storage unit | The old gas unit next to the new heat pump |
| Electrician | Home battery and EV charger installs | Charger on the garage wall; switchboard before and after |
| Electrician or air-con installer | Reverse-cycle heating replacing gas heaters | Indoor head, outdoor unit placement, the gas heater gone |
| Electrician or kitchen trade | Induction cooktop swap | The finished benchtop and the new circuit at the board |
| Insulation installer | Ceiling insulation | Roof space before and after |
| Builder | All-electric new builds and extensions | Finished kitchen and laundry with no gas point |
Say "Scheme loans available" only if your business is Brighte-accredited, which suppliers apply for through Brighte, and word it as finance you offer, never as government endorsement. Each extra service page sits inside the same price band; the quote lists them.
Ask which pages your trade should add and we'll list them, priced inside the band.

An example scope: a Gungahlin electrician’s seven-page site
A worked example of what a quote lists, not a client of ours: a sole-trader electrician in Gungahlin doing switchboards, EV chargers and gas-to-electric work, with some jobs over the border.
| Page | What goes on it |
|---|---|
| Home | Click-to-call bar, licence strip, three recent jobs by suburb |
| Switchboard upgrades | Before-and-after board photos |
| EV chargers and batteries | Garage installs; Scheme finance line only if Brighte-accredited |
| Gas-to-electric | Induction circuits, reverse-cycle replacing gas heaters |
| Jobs in Casey, Amaroo, Ngunnawal | Real jobs only, one photo each |
| Queanbeyan and Googong | Only once NSW recognition is notified |
| Quote form | Suburb, job type, photo upload, licence line on the confirmation |
Priced inside the WordPress or custom band above, with the launch week in the quote. A plumber's version would lead with heat pump hot water; a builder's with all-electric extensions.

Gungahlin, Belconnen, Tuggeranong or Queanbeyan: picking suburb pages from where you work
The ABS counts construction businesses by district, and for Queanbeyan over the border. Gungahlin has the most; in Tuggeranong more than one business in four is a trade.
| District | Construction businesses | Share of district businesses | Pages that tend to fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gungahlin | 1,557 | 20.9% | Newer estates: new-build fit-outs and maintenance; name Casey, Ngunnawal, Amaroo |
| Belconnen | 1,354 | 21.6% | Established suburbs: upgrade pages by suburb (Macgregor, Kaleen, Holt) |
| Tuggeranong | 1,163 | 26.3% (highest) | Name Kambah, Wanniassa or Calwell jobs, not just the district |
| Queanbeyan SA3 (NSW) | 1,417 | 23.9% | Separate pages carrying your NSW licence detail |
| South Canberra | 874 | 14.4% | Established inner south (Narrabundah, Griffith): renovation and rewiring |
| North Canberra | 721 | 12.1% | Older houses, newer apartments (Ainslie, Braddon): rewiring and strata work |
| Woden Valley | 456 | 13.3% | Phillip, Curtin and Lyons jobs can share one page |
| Weston Creek | 263 | 19.6% | Often fits a combined Woden and Weston Creek page |
| Molonglo | 205 | 16.8% | Newer estates (Coombs, Wright, Denman Prospect): new-build pages if you do them |
| Canberra East (Fyshwick, Hume) | 179 | 25.6% | Industrial area: commercial maintenance pages if that's your work |
Build a page only where you have finished jobs and photos, and name the suburbs inside each district, since that's how customers describe where they live. A switchboard upgrade in Amaroo beats "Gungahlin" repeated ten times.
The counts follow registered address, not job location: read them as how crowded a patch is, not as demand. Google's service-area rules are on our national tradie page.
Tell us your suburbs and we'll say which have enough jobs behind them for a page.

Working over the border: Queanbeyan, Googong and Jerrabomberra on a Canberra site
With 1,417 construction businesses (23.9% of all businesses there), Queanbeyan SA3 is no quieter than Canberra. List Googong or Jerrabomberra jobs once you hold the right NSW licence or recognition for your trade, not before.
Electricians
NSW says licensed electricians from the ACT, Queensland and Victoria can be automatically recognised under the East Coast Electricians scheme, and interstate electrical licensees must notify Building Commission NSW. Endorsed contractor licences and qualified-supervisor certificates for electrical wiring work are intended to join NSW Automatic Mutual Recognition on 1 October 2027; until then, interstate holders apply to Building Commission NSW under Mutual Recognition.
Plumbers, gasfitters, builders and other trades
Confirm your trade with Building Commission NSW before any NSW suburb goes on the site. Recognition differs by occupation, and we won't guess.
What the NSW-side pages carry
Your NSW licence number or the recognition you rely on, beside the ACT line, on every page naming a NSW suburb. NSW advertising rules: the short version is on our national tradie page, the detail on our Sydney tradie page.

Paying monthly or upfront: what to get in writing before month 12
Subscriptions have a fair case: A$500 to start rather than A$3,900, with edits and hosting handled, which can suit a new sole trader watching cash flow. The weak spot is the exit. Plentify's subscription section doesn't say (as at 7 October 2026) what you keep if you stop paying, while its lump sum and Websites For Tradies both put ownership in writing. Ask any provider these, us included.
| Question | A good written answer | Red flag |
|---|---|---|
| Who is the .com.au registrant? | Your ABN or business | The agency's name |
| Can I take the code or files? | Export or repository handed over | "The site stays with us" |
| Who owns the Google Business Profile? | You, as primary owner | The agency is the only owner |
| Analytics and Search Console | On your own Google account | No access for you |
| Cost to leave after the minimum term | A stated A$ figure, or nil | Not stated |
| Price after month 12 | Stated in writing | "Reviewed annually" |
| Moving the hosting | A notice period, e.g. 30 days, with handover | No notice clause |
What you hold with us at launch, as set out in your written quote. The .com.au registered to your ABN, the code and files, admin logins, primary ownership of your Google Business Profile, and Search Console and analytics on your own Google account. Drop our monthly plan later and nothing needs handing back.
Replacing a site you already have? Your Google reviews belong to your Business Profile, not the website, so a rebuild doesn't touch them. The quote lists the domain move and redirects from your old page addresses.
