Overview
Locally published alternatives run from $99–$499 a month rented (The Index Bot) to about $990 for one page (Lateral Design Group). Every build puts your trade and towns on the first screen, a tap-to-call bar, your REC or BPC registration line in the header, and a photo-upload quote form set up for your job app where the app allows. We work remotely from Lucknow, India, and each round is ready to check after you knock off.

Going by figures we checked on 6–7 October 2026, Lateral Design Group prices a one-page showcase site at around $990, a one-pager with Local SEO from $1,650, and most sites of five or more pages at $2,000–$4,000. Tradie web design in Ballarat: what each provider publishes
We searched "tradie web design ballarat" on Google on 6 October 2026 and read the providers' pages the next day, including Lateral Design Group's FAQ page, where its prices sit. "Not published" describes the page we read; most firms will give a figure if asked.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lateral Design Group | Soldiers Hill | Tradie package listed; no tradie page | About $990 one page; from $1,650 with Local SEO; $2,000–$4,000 for 5+ pages (FAQ content dated 19 Oct 2025; GST not stated) | No | Not published |
| The Index Bot | Ballarat | Yes, a dedicated Ballarat tradie page | $99 / $249 / $499 a month; no setup fee; buy-out at 6× the monthly fee (GST not stated) | No | 1–3 weeks |

| Build Digital Growth | Head office in Mildura | No | Monthly plan, no figure given | No | 4–8 weeks (smaller sites); 8–16 weeks (complex) |
| Lead Logics | Victoria, not Ballarat-based | Yes, a general tradie page; shows one Ballarat builder testimonial | None | No | Not published |
| Digital Nomads HQ | Mooloolaba, QLD | Yes, national | None | No | About 6–8 weeks (custom) |
| Codingclave | Lucknow, India (remote) | Yes (this page) | A$900–A$4,300 WordPress; A$1,200–A$6,900 custom; no Australian GST added | REC or registration line included; quote form linked to your job app where the app allows (method confirmed in your quote) | Estimated 1–2 weeks WordPress; 1–3 weeks custom |
Of the seven other providers, two print a figure, and neither says whether GST is included or what hosting costs once the site is yours.

A $99-a-month tradie site or a one-off build: the buy-out sums
The Index Bot's terms, read 7 October 2026: no setup fee, no lock-in, the domain in your name and ABN, and a buy-out at any point for six times the monthly fee ($594, $1,494 or $2,994). Cancellation is described both as ending with the paid period and, in a plumber FAQ, as needing thirty days' notice, so get the one that applies in writing.
When renting wins
One month of Essential bought out at once costs $693, below our A$900 floor, and the annual option brings a year plus the buy-out to $1,544. For a new sole trader testing whether Ballarat work comes from Google, one page with a free preview is a fair start; it's the lowest price we found for a tradie site you end up owning. Our band buys a page count fixed in a written quote, the quote form and registration line built in, and no buy-out clause.
When owning wins
Essential stops at one page. A year of Growth plus its buy-out comes to $4,482, just above the top of our WordPress band (A$4,300). Owning also suits a crew that'll keep the site well past a year, or that wants no monthly debit sitting beside the ute repayments.
Questions to get answered in writing before either
- What "own outright" covers: design, words and photos, a code export, or only the domain
- Who hosts the site after a buy-out, and at what monthly price
- Whether GST is added to any figure
- How cancellation works: end of the paid period, or thirty days' notice
Ask us the same four; the answers are written into your quote.
| Plan | Monthly | Pages | Bought out after month 1 | 12 months then buy-out | Where our build at a similar size falls |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $99 (or $950 a year) | Single page | $693 | $1,782 ($1,544 on the annual option) | WordPress band, A$900–A$4,300 |
| Growth | $249 | Up to 3 pages (per its plan card), plus a service-area page | $1,743 | $4,482 | WordPress band, A$900–A$4,300 |
| Accelerate | $499 | Adds a booking system and a blog | $3,493 | $8,982 | WordPress band, or custom at A$1,200–A$6,900 |
Taking our optional hosting and support (A$80–A$240 a month)? Add a year of it to our side before comparing. The three-year view for all Ballarat businesses is under renting or owning over 36 months.

Your REC or BPC registration line on a Ballarat trade site
Energy Safe Victoria tells registered electrical contractors to put their REC registration number on all promotional materials, including advertisements, notices and statements (page reviewed 17 December 2025). A website advertises your work, so we treat it as promotional material and put the REC number in the first draft. Of the Ballarat pages we checked, none mentions ESV, the Building and Plumbing Commission or where a licence number should go.
Electricians and solar installers
For a Ballarat sparky's site, the number sits in four places: the header strip beside the call button, the footer, the screen shown after a quote request, and any quote PDF. It stays as live text, not part of a logo image, so homeowners can copy it and search engines can read it. ESV also requires $5 million public liability cover; showing yours on the site is optional.
Builders and plumbers
On 1 July 2025 the Building and Plumbing Commission replaced the VBA. The Building Act advertising rules for registered domestic builders are laid out on our Melbourne tradie page, and the Act applies statewide. For plumbers and gas fitters we know of no verified display rule, so we claim none and show the licence number as good practice. We write the line from your certificate and you check it with the BPC before launch.
Landscapers, concreters, painters
Consumer Affairs Victoria says BPC registration is needed for work worth more than $10,000, unless the job is one listed trade done on its own, such as painting, tiling or plastering. Concreting and landscaping aren't on that list, so a driveway or retaining wall over $10,000 may need registration; check your jobs with the BPC. A painter doing painting alone needs no builder line, and we won't invent one.
Home Warranty and deposit-cap wording for Victorian builders is on the Melbourne page; NSW, Queensland, WA and SA rules sit on our national tradie page. General information, not legal advice.
Not sure where your number belongs? WhatsApp your REC or registration type and we'll mark where it sits on the page.

What Ballarat’s trade numbers say your site should lead with
At 30 June 2025 the ABS counted 2,010 construction businesses among the City of Ballarat's 10,151: 19.8%, the largest industry, though down from 2,092 in 2023. Private-sector house approvals fell every year from 1,905 in 2020–21 to 626 in 2024–25. The work that held up is on existing homes, and the signals below show where.
| Trade | Ballarat signal | Lead pages | Lower priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrician / solar | 1,419 small-scale solar systems in 2024 (1,379 in 2023) | Solar, switchboard upgrades, fault-finding, all carrying the REC line | New-estate wiring packages |
| Plumber / gas | 159 solar water heaters in 2024, down from 575 in 2019; 85% separate houses | Hot water replacement, blocked drains, gas appliance work | New-build rough-in packages |
| Builder / renovator | Private house approvals 626 in 2024–25, from 1,905 in 2020–21 | Extensions, renovations, repairs, pre-sale work | House-and-land style packages |
| Landscaper / concreter | 85% of occupied dwellings are separate houses (2021) | Driveways, paving, retaining walls, yard makeovers | Commercial tender pages |
| Painter / handyman | 2,005 established houses sold in 2023–24, median $550,000 | Pre-sale repaints, rental turnarounds | Large commercial repaint pages |
That leaves about 2,000 trade businesses, still well above the 1,839 of 2021, chasing far fewer new builds. Is a website still worth building in 2026? For a Ballarat trade, yes: construction employee jobs rose from 4,359 in 2017–18 to 5,713 in 2022–23, and the work has shifted to existing homes. So repairs, renovations, pre-sale fixes and energy upgrades go on the first screen, new-build packages further down.

A Ballarat trade site, page by page: three sample plans
Sample plans, not past client jobs. They show what fits inside our bands for three common Ballarat set-ups, and your own quote names every page before work starts.
| Set-up | Pages | Built into the site | Quoted inside |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sole trader, one trade, mostly referrals (say, a painter based in Redan) | One page: services, finished-job photos, a link to your Google reviews, quote form | Call bar, photo-upload quote form, licence line where one applies | WordPress band, A$900–A$4,300 |
| Electrician holding a REC, with solar work | 5–6 pages: home, solar, switchboard upgrades, fault-finding, two ring-town pages (Mount Helen and Learmonth, for example), contact | REC number in header, footer, quote screen and quote PDF | WordPress band, A$900–A$4,300 |
| Builder or renovator quoting through ServiceM8 | Home, extensions, renovations, repairs and pre-sale work, a gallery of finished jobs, contact | BPC registration line; quote form sending jobs to ServiceM8 where the app allows | WordPress band, or the custom band (A$1,200–A$6,900) if the job-app link needs custom work |
Tell us which of the three is closest to your business and we'll adjust the page list from there.

Brown Hill to Ballan: which towns around Ballarat earn their own page
Google's rules for service-area profiles, and why near-identical suburb pages backfire, are covered on our national tradie page. Here's how we apply them to the suburbs and towns ringing Ballarat that most trade sites leave out.
| Area | Straight line from Ballarat Central | Give it its own page when | Keep it in the list when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brown Hill, Canadian, Mount Helen | About 4–8 km east and south-east | You do repeat work in older homes and rentals there | Only the odd call-out comes from there |
| Redan, Bonshaw, Smythes Creek, Winter Valley | About 2–9 km south-west and west | You can show finished jobs with photos from those streets | You only drive through on the way to other jobs |
| Black Hill, Nerrina, Invermay Park | About 2.5–4 km north and north-east | Repairs in older housing keep bringing you back | You've had one or two jobs there in a year |
| Lake Gardens, Mitchell Park, Cardigan Village | About 3.5–13.5 km west and north-west | The work differs from the next suburb's, such as bigger blocks or rural fencing | The jobs match the suburb next door |
| Learmonth, Clunes | About 19 km north-west and 31 km north (Clunes is in Hepburn Shire) | You have set travel days and a stated call-out fee | Travel there is ad hoc |
| Ballan, Gordon | About 32 km and 23 km east, toward Melbourne (Moorabool Shire) | You work the corridor every week | The job is a one-off |
Our rule: a town gets its own page when you can show at least three finished jobs there, with photos, and say which day you're usually out that way. Until then it sits in the service-area list, and the number of town pages is fixed in your quote.
Not sure which towns earn a page? List the towns you work on WhatsApp and we'll mark which get a page, before any quote.

Getting more Google reviews for a Ballarat trade business, within Google’s rules
More Google reviews mean more calls from people who've never heard of you. Here's how the site and your job app ask for them within Google's content policy, which spells out which ways of asking are allowed.
Ask everyone, the same way
Put a review link on the thank-you page after a quote request and in your job app's job-complete SMS, sent after every finished job, not only the smooth ones. Asking only the customers you expect to be happy counts as selective soliciting.
What gets a profile in trouble
Google's policy rules out paying for reviews, offering a discount or free extra in return, discouraging negative reviews, and staff quotas or telling customers what to write. An honest request with nothing attached is fine.
Showing reviews on the site
Embed them, or quote them word for word with a link to your Google profile. Never edit a customer's wording.

Lateral, The Index Bot or Codingclave: who suits which Ballarat tradie
Choose Lateral Design Group if
You want ute signage, photography and the website in one job, you'd like to sit across a desk from the person doing it in Soldiers Hill, and a 5.0 rating from 51 Google reviews nearby matters to you.
Choose The Index Bot if
You want to pay nothing upfront and see a free preview first, and one page will do for now. Check its buy-out and cancellation wording against the questions above.
Choose us if
You want a fixed AUD build with no monthly fee owed, a quote form linked to ServiceM8, Tradify, Fergus or Jobber where the app allows (the method is confirmed in your quote; see job-app quote forms), rounds to check after knock-off, and several trade or town pages from day one.
What we can show: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), 200+ projects since 2017, Top Rated on Upwork and founder-led delivery; see our work. What we don't have: an office, staff, phone or ABN in Australia. If you'd like someone to visit the yard or shoot photos on site, Kinetic Media in Ballarat Central and UBC Web Design in Ballarat East both take enquiries. If an evening review on your phone suits you better, send your trade and towns and the fixed figure comes back in writing.

Reviews after knock-off, and what you hold at handover
Your evening, our working day
We start at 3:30pm Ballarat time, about when many crews knock off, and work to 12:30am, Monday to Saturday; from 4 April 2027 it's 2:30pm–11:30pm. Overlap with a 9-to-5 office day is 1.5 hours in summer and 2.5 in winter. Photos sent at 5pm from a Sebastopol job land while we're working, and progress is usually there when you start the next day. Summer and winter hours are tabled on our Ballarat page.
Domain, site and content
The .com.au is registered in your name and ABN; our Ballarat FAQ explains how that works with a designer overseas. What passes to you at handover (design files, words, photos and code) is spelled out in your quote and confirmed in writing before you sign.
Paying and support
Payment stages, accepted methods, whether sign-off follows the phone test, and any bug-fix period are set down in writing for your business before you sign. Hosting and support from us is optional at A$80–A$240 a month. The phone test is a launch step on every build.
A sound trade site gives you a fair chance at the searches Ballarat households make, but no web designer, us included, can promise you rankings or a set number of leads. Ranking work is covered under SEO in Ballarat.
