Quick answer

What does a restaurant POS cost in Brisbane over three years?

Of the Brisbane suppliers on Google's first page, only Access POS prices a whole restaurant package. Package B is $2,390 ex GST on its current sale (list $3,690) with a terminal, receipt printer, cash drawer, menu programming and 12 months' support, then $80 ex GST a month. A one-terminal café pays $4,310 ex GST over 36 months, or $5,390 with the EFTPOS-link and stock modules. Triniteq starts at $55 a site a month and POSApt at $66 a month inc GST, neither with hardware. Ours is A$1,620 over 36 months on hardware you already own, or about A$3,619–A$4,626 ex GST with new retail kit.

  • Access POS Package B, 36 months: $2,390 + 24 × $80 = $4,310 ex GST
  • Software only, 36 months: Triniteq from $1,980, POSApt $2,376
  • Our hosted plan plus new café kit: A$3,619–A$4,626 ex GST
  • Year 4 at today's prices: $960 on Access POS, A$540 with us

Brisbane POS suppliers and the prices they actually publish

On 7 October 2026 we read the restaurant and terms pages of each POS supplier ranking for Brisbane searches and copied every price and GST basis as printed. A dash means nothing is published. No one publishes Brisbane market-share figures, so this shows who competes for your search, not who sells most.

Access POS's prices include a $1,300 discount; ask whether it still applies on the day you order. Its licence terms also allow 'small yearly price increases' once the first 24 months are up. The Brisbane listicle ranking POSApt first gives an unsourced $60–$180 a month for small-business software, and its footer carries 'Advertise With Us'.

Three-year POS cost for a Brisbane café and a two-terminal restaurant

A $2,390 package and a $55 subscription aren't the same purchase: the first includes a terminal, printer, drawer and a year's support, the second is software only. Over 36 months, Access POS Package B costs $4,310 ex GST including its hardware; our hosted POS costs A$1,620 plus any hardware you buy.

Buying everything new, our hosted plan and Package B finish within a few hundred dollars of each other over three years. We come out ahead when you reuse compatible hardware (A$1,620 against $4,310), when you need stock control (included with ours, a $300 module plus $10 a month there), and after year 3, when the Access POS licence alone is $960 a year against our A$540 at today's prices. The licence hosted by us costs more than the A$45 plan because one licence gets a server of its own; choose it to own the code, and use the hosted line to compare like with like.

Square, Zeller and Lightspeed over five years, with card fees, are on our Australia-wide restaurant POS comparison. Renewal due soon? WhatsApp us the bill and we'll run these sums on your figures.

POS hardware for a Brisbane venue: shopping list with retail prices

We don't sell hardware. With us, POS installation in Brisbane has two halves: a Brisbane electrician or IT contractor runs the cabling and mounts the kit, then we configure the system remotely outside your service times, within our Mon–Sat 2:30pm–11:30pm Brisbane window. Send model numbers before you spend anything; compatibility is confirmed in writing for your business before you sign. Prices are from Cash Register Warehouse because it prints every figure; buy wherever you like.

Which features matter for which Brisbane venues

These describe how parts of the city trade, not client stories.

  • Brisbane CBD weekday lunch counters

Office workers arrive in one burst between noon and 1:30pm. A kitchen display with ageing timers puts the oldest order first, modifier sheets capture 'no onion, extra shot' at the till, and send-to-kitchen means nobody walks dockets to the pass.

  • Fortitude Valley and West End bars

Tabs held open for hours, one bill split five ways, two tables merging: split, merge and tip handling cover that, and PIN logins with an audit trail show who voided what at 11pm. After 11:30pm our day has ended, so late trade falls back on standalone EFTPOS and paper dockets.

  • New Farm, Bulimba and Paddington weekend brunch

The floor plan shows which tables are seated, waiting on the bill or free, with reservations alongside, so a host can turn a two-top without walking the room. For WhatsApp bookings without answering the phone, see booking automation for Brisbane venues. Brunch is outside our hours, so set-up finishes before the weekend.

  • Sunnybank and Woolloongabba multi-cuisine menus

Long menus need modifiers per dish, a searchable menu catalogue, and a sold-out toggle that marks a dish sold out across the POS and kitchen screens. Daily reports and recipe-level stock with low-stock alerts show what to reorder before a busy week such as the Ekka.

Opening a second venue? The multi-outlet menu runs both from one place. A pub with rooms upstairs also needs hotel management software. For venue website costs, see our Brisbane website prices.

Queensland set-up before your first service

Card surcharges on eftpos, Mastercard and Visa ended on 1 October 2026 (RBA), so the surcharge line in the POS, your receipts and any menu mentioning a card fee need changing. The RBA's FAQ says weekend, Sunday and public-holiday surcharges still apply, and discounts for paying a particular way are still allowed. Queensland has no daylight saving, so timestamps never jump an hour. Card-fee arithmetic is on our national POS page.

Delivery tablets. Getting Uber Eats and DoorDash orders straight into the POS is custom work: whether it can be done for your venue is confirmed in writing before you sign, then quoted inside our restaurant ordering band of A$3,900–A$23,500. Menulog closed in Australia on 26 November 2025 (ABC), even though the Access POS takeout module still names it. For commission-free direct orders, see online ordering for restaurants, cafés and takeaways; for an app under your own brand, see Brisbane app developers.

Grants. On 7 October 2026 the Business Queensland grants schedule listed no open grant covering POS or software, so budget without one.

Brisbane dinner service is covered; breakfast, lunch and Sunday aren’t

Triniteq and Pratham both sell support in an Australian time zone, and for a venue opening at 6:30am that's a fair point. Our day runs Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 19:00 India time. Queensland keeps AEST all year, so in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast that is always 2:30pm to 11:30pm.

Our Mon–Sat 10:00–19:00 IST window in Brisbane time (AEST all year). Service times are typical; yours may differ.

Leaving a Brisbane reseller contract without paying twice

Access POS bills a year in advance, so switching a month after renewal wastes up to 11 months of fees. Five steps avoid paying for two systems.

  • Find your licence anniversary

The renewal date is on your last licence invoice, and the unused part of a prepaid year isn't refunded. Plan the move for the weeks before it.

  • Export what you’ve already built

Ask your supplier for your menu, items, modifiers and sales history, and the file format. The menu matters most: re-keying 200 dishes with modifiers is a long night.

  • Reuse your terminal and printers

Send the model numbers of your terminal, printers and cash drawer. Each is cleared for reuse or flagged for replacement before you buy anything.

  • Run both for one quiet night

Pick a Monday or Tuesday dinner inside our hours. Ring sample orders through both systems, compare end-of-night figures, and keep the old one until they match.

  • Get the move priced in AUD first

Migration is one fixed AUD figure, with your go-live date in the same written quote, before work starts. Bespoke reports or new integrations go to custom software for Brisbane businesses.

Send your renewal invoice before the anniversary date. We reply with a side-by-side 3-year cost, yours against ours. Moving before the next year is billed is where the saving is.

Choose Idealpos, Triniteq or StarPOS instead if…

If any of these describe your venue, pick one of the suppliers competing for Brisbane venues: Idealpos, Triniteq, Access POS or StarPOS from the price table, or H&L and SwiftPOS, which the Brisbane listicle also ranks.

  • You run a retail shop

Our POS is for hospitality only. A boutique, newsagency or bottle shop needs barcode-led stock and returns from a retail supplier.

  • You’re a club with gaming or memberships

Gaming and membership systems need a POS supplier that already connects to them. We don't.

  • You want someone on site

We make no on-site visits. If a technician at the door matters, choose an installer with people in Brisbane.

  • Your busiest trade is Sunday, breakfast or round the clock

Live help at 7am, at any hour on a Sunday, or round the clock across a franchise group falls outside our working day.

Who ours suits. Owner-run cafés, restaurants and bars that trade mostly Monday to Saturday evenings, want to own the code and want a fixed 3-year software cost.

Marketing a new venue? See getting a new Valley bar found on Google or paid search for a Brisbane opening. Nobody can guarantee rankings or bookings, and we won't.

Who builds and supports your POS from India

The POS is built and supported by Codingclave Development LLP in Lucknow, India, founded in 2017 and still run day to day by its founder, Ashish Sharma. There is no Australian office, ABN or staff. Before trusting a system you'll ring sales through every night, weigh the record we can show: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), 200+ projects since 2017, Top Rated on Upwork, and founder-led delivery. Read the reviews and past projects.

What protects you. Card payments go through your own EFTPOS provider and never touch us, and a licence comes with the full source code, so any developer can maintain it later. Payment stages and any warranty or bug-fix period are set out in writing before you sign.

No GST is charged on these prices; the GST note explains why. You buy the hardware, your Brisbane contractor bills the cabling, and card fees stay between you and your EFTPOS provider.

Settled in writing before you sign: devices and outlets on the hosted plan; the licence update price after month 3; whether your EFTPOS terminal links to the POS; your kitchen display and reused hardware; GST item set-up, surcharge rules and hosting region; a fixed AUD price and go-live date for migration and delivery-app work; payment stages and any warranty or bug-fix period.

Prices are in Australian dollars and do not include GST: Codingclave is an overseas (India-based) supplier and is not registered for Australian GST. If your business is GST-registered, check with your accountant whether the reverse-charge rules apply to imported services.

Ask Ashish directly

Ask on WhatsApp

What is the best POS system for restaurants in Brisbane, and what do most use?

Nobody publishes reliable market-share data for restaurant POS in Australia, so claims about what most venues use are guesses, and some 'best' lists sit on sites that sell advertising. Choose on fit: counter, table service or bar tabs; how many terminals and kitchen stations; which EFTPOS provider you're keeping; and who answers when something breaks in your busiest hour. Send us those four answers on WhatsApp and we'll say honestly whether ours fits, or which Brisbane supplier would suit better.

How much is a POS system for a small café in Brisbane?

Access POS Package B is $2,390 ex GST on its current sale, with a terminal, receipt printer and cash drawer, then $80 ex GST a month from month 13: $4,310 over three years. Our hosted plan is A$1,620 over 36 months on compatible hardware you already own. New café kit (touch terminal, receipt printer, cash drawer, rolls) runs about A$1,999–A$3,006 ex GST at retail, putting the all-in figure with us at A$3,619–A$4,626 ex GST. Card fees sit outside every figure.

What is the most cost-effective restaurant POS system?

It depends on what you already own and which modules you need. On Brisbane prices checked 7 October 2026, a café reusing its hardware pays A$1,620 over 36 months on our hosted plan, against $4,310 ex GST for Access POS Package B with new hardware, or $5,390 with EFTPOS-link and stock modules. Buying all new kit, the two land close together. From year 4, the Access POS licence alone is $960 a year, against A$540 with us at today's prices.

Do I need a Brisbane-based POS company to install and support it?

Only if you need someone on site, or live help at breakfast or on Sundays; then a supplier with Brisbane staff is the right call, and we'll tell you so. Otherwise the work splits cleanly: a Brisbane electrician or IT contractor runs the cabling and mounts the kit, and the software is configured and supported remotely. We make no on-site visits. Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 2:30pm to 11:30pm AEST, all year, in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

Can I keep my current EFTPOS terminal and provider?

Yes. A standalone EFTPOS terminal from any provider works beside the POS: staff enter the amount on the terminal, and the sale is recorded in the POS. Integrated EFTPOS, where the POS sends the amount to the terminal for you, depends on your exact terminal model, so that link is confirmed in writing for your business before you sign. Keeping your provider also means your card rates stay where they are when you change POS.

What happens if EFTPOS or the internet goes down during service?

A standalone card terminal on its own connection keeps taking cards even if the POS or the venue's internet drops, and paper dockets keep the kitchen moving until the screens are back. How the POS itself behaves offline differs between the hosted plan and a licence on an in-venue server, and we go through that for your set-up before you sign. If the card network itself is down, no POS can fix it: take cash and keep writing dockets.

Can a Queensland café still charge a public holiday surcharge?

Yes. The RBA change from 1 October 2026 removed surcharges for paying by card on eftpos, Mastercard and Visa, and its FAQ says weekend and public-holiday surcharges are not affected. Set them up as POS rules: full days for most holidays, including the substitute Boxing Day on Monday 28 December 2026, the Ekka on 11 August 2027 only inside the Brisbane show-holiday area, and a 6pm-to-midnight window for Christmas Eve.

Does the POS connect to Uber Eats and DoorDash, and is Menulog still running?

Menulog stopped operating in Australia at 23:59 AEDT on 26 November 2025, and its customers were redirected to Uber Eats, so Brisbane venues now deal mainly with Uber Eats and DoorDash. Sending their orders straight into our POS is custom work, not a standard feature. Whether it can be done for your venue is confirmed in writing before you sign, then quoted as a fixed figure within our restaurant ordering band of A$3,900–A$23,500.
