Overview

The two Brisbane app pages that print a figure quote an average of $25,000–$250,000 (ISH Technologies) or a typical $50,000–$250,000 (DreamWalk). We're a founder-led team in Lucknow, India, with no Brisbane office, so you check progress rather than visit it: a test build on your phone every fortnight, afternoon video calls on Queensland time, and Apple and Google accounts in your business's name.

Quick answer

How much does an app cost from Brisbane app developers?

Brisbane app pages that publish a price quote $25,000–$250,000 on average over 6–16 weeks (ISH Technologies) or a typical $50,000–$250,000 and 4–9 months (DreamWalk). On 6 October 2026 we opened the Brisbane page of each studio ranking for this search. "Not published" means the page is silent on that point, not that the firm won't quote.

Why the spread is so wide. Three things move a Brisbane app price most: where the developers sit, whether paid discovery comes first (Moonward's runs four weeks), and whether "an app" means six screens or sixty. None of these pages carries a date or says whether GST is inside its range, so ask before you set two quotes side by side. Australia-wide agency ranges are on our page about app development cost in Australia.

Already holding a Brisbane quote? Send us the scope with their price removed, so you get an independent number for the same screens, not one pitched just under theirs. Starting from scratch? Send your app idea on WhatsApp for a written AUD price range.

Why our app price starts at A$6,900 when Brisbane studios start at $25,000

A gap that size should make you ask what you give up. Mainly in-person workshops: we work from Lucknow, not a CBD office. Our running costs are Lucknow costs, there's no CBD lease in the price, and the bottom of the band is a deliberately small first release, not a cut-down large one.

  • What a scope near the bottom of the band looks like

A short screen list, one kind of user signing in, one core job done well (book, order, log a job or check a status), and release to both stores. Startup MVPs usually sit here.

  • What pushes a scope toward A$43,000

Several user roles, in-app payments, a detailed admin panel with reports, offline use for staff out of signal, real-time tracking, and links to booking, accounting or POS systems you already run. Each is itemised, so you can move it to a later release.

  • What stays the same at any price

Clickable screens you approve before development, testing on real phones, store submission under your accounts, and repository access during the build.

You get one figure for your own screen list, not a per-tier price. Client reviews and past work are there to check first.

Hiring a remote app team from Brisbane: four questions to settle first

Few Brisbane-branded app pages say where their developers work, or when. Settle these with anyone you hire; our answers follow.

  • Where and when the work happens

Lucknow, India, Monday to Saturday, 2:30–11:30pm AEST. Ashish Sharma set up Codingclave Development LLP in 2017 and still runs each build himself. There's no Australian office; contact is WhatsApp, email and video.

  • What you own, and when

Apple and Google Play accounts opened in your business's name, and read access to the code repository from the first sprint, so the app never depends on us. The IP assignment wording, and when ownership passes, are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign. See also our national safeguards checklist.

  • How money moves

Payments follow milestones in the quote, and each milestone is something you can install and test on your own phone. The payment split and method are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign.

  • Who looks after the app after launch

Optional hosting and support, A$80–A$240 a month: the server behind the app, backups and monitoring.

When a studio in Brisbane is the better choice. You want in-person workshops, your rules require an onshore supplier, or the budget sits well above A$43,000 with a long roadmap.

Who are the best app developers in Brisbane? A shortlist by fit, not by rank

"Best" turns on your budget, procurement rules and how much time you want in a room together. "App builders" also means two things in search results: no-code platforms where you assemble screens yourself on a monthly plan, or a mobile app development company that writes, tests and ships the code. Every firm below is the second kind, matched to a buyer type from its own page and Clutch row. It is not a ranking.

  • If you need workshops in a room

Start with the firms showing a Brisbane street address: Moonward, ISH Technologies and App Gurus.

  • If your buyer is government

Code Heroes cites the Queensland Digital Licence, and ISH lists Queensland government clients. Rules that require an Australian supplier or onshore data handling rule us out.

Mobile app development for Brisbane’s biggest industries: five first releases

Health care and social assistance is Brisbane's largest employer, with 121,574 jobs in 2021; with professional, scientific and technical services and education and training, the top three employed 281,221 people, 35% of jobs in the council area (Brisbane's Economic Profile, December 2025). So clinic and NDIS apps head this table.

Five common first releases, and what moves each one up our A$6,900–A$43,000 band
Who uses itFirst releaseScreens to start withWhat pushes it up the band
Patients of a clinic or allied-health practiceBooking appBook, reminder, patient profileSeveral practitioners' calendars, a staff web portal, a link to your practice system (clinic software)
NDIS support workers in the fieldRoster and shift-notes appRoster, check-in, shift notesOffline notes for low-signal visits, plan-budget tracking (NDIS software)
Tradies on siteJob and quote appJob list, photo quote, invoice hand-offAccounting-tool sync, several crews, customer sign-off on site (tradie tools)
Customers ordering ahead at a venueOrdering and loyalty appMenu, cart, pointsLoyalty tiers, table ordering, links to the ordering system and POS
Students, agency clients or property managersStatus or inspection appProfile, documents, status; or a photo checklistDocument review steps, CRM sync (education and migration agents, real estate agencies)

Health data. Health service providers are covered by the Privacy Act whatever their turnover (OAIC), and NDIS shift notes often hold health information, so clinic and NDIS scopes list every piece of health information the app stores.

Venues. The ordering system behind the app is A$3,900–A$23,500 on its own. Our restaurant POS software is a separate licence at A$449 once or A$45 a month. Delivery-app links and payment terminals are set-up work confirmed in writing for your venue before you sign.

Searching for web app developers in Brisbane? A staff-only portal with no store listing belongs with custom software development in Brisbane. Tell us your industry and the first three screens and we'll place it in the band.

iOS and Android app development in Brisbane: one codebase or two?

Whether you searched for iOS app development or Android app development in Brisbane, the first decision is the same: one shared codebase for both stores, or a separate native app for each.

  • One codebase, both stores, by default

We write the app once in Flutter or React Native and release it to the App Store and Google Play together. Our Flutter vs React Native comparison explains how we choose.

  • When separate native builds make sense

Apps that lean on the device more than the screen: heavy sensor work, augmented reality or smartwatch companions. If yours is one, we say so at scoping (native vs hybrid apps).

  • Picking a first platform on a tight budget

Your website analytics or POS reports show which phones your customers carry. With one codebase, adding the second store later is a release task, not a rebuild.

  • Developer accounts opened under your business

Open the Apple Developer Program (99 USD per membership year on Apple's enrolment page, priced in Australian dollars as you enrol) and a Google Play developer account under your business, then add us as users. Apple asks organisations for a D-U-N-S Number, so request one early. Store commission and other fees are on our national app cost page.

One app sprint on Queensland time, from planning call to sign-off

Calls sit at 2:30–5pm AEST. Sydney's shared working time shrinks to 1.5 hours from 4 Oct 2026; Brisbane's doesn't, because Queensland keeps one clock all year. The full working-day comparison is on our Brisbane page; here is what it means for a fortnight of app work.

  • Planning call on the first day

A video call to agree the fortnight's screens and user stories, each with acceptance notes on a shared board. The slot you pick in week one holds for the whole build.

  • A demo on the same weekday every second week

You install the latest build and try it while we watch on the call, then sign the sprint off against its acceptance notes. Want to change a feature mid-build? Anything outside the agreed screen list is priced in writing before work on it starts.

  • Messages sent in a Brisbane morning

Our day starts in your early afternoon, so a note or screen recording sent at 9am is waiting when we begin. For a live app, what counts as urgent is agreed in writing with your support terms.

Ask for a scoping call on WhatsApp and name the weekday that suits you.

Brisbane app developer hourly rates on Clutch, and what they leave out

Among the pages ranking for this search, only Clutch's Brisbane list shows hourly rates, with each firm's rate band and minimum project size. Its ratings were updated on 6 October 2026. Clutch quotes its rates in US dollars, although the list shows only a $ sign. We checked these seven rows that day.

  • A suburb on a listing isn’t where the code gets written

Clutch records a suburb for each firm, not where its developers work. A low hourly band can mean some or all of the work happens outside Australia, so ask every shortlisted firm which city its developers are in and which hours they keep.

  • What those bands are in Australian dollars

At the RBA's rate of US$0.6970 per Australian dollar on 6 October 2026, US$100–$149 an hour works out at roughly A$143–A$214, and US$200–$300 at roughly A$287–A$430. Rates move daily, so ask each firm for its own AUD rate and whether GST is on top.

  • Check the firm is still trading

On 6 October 2026 one Brisbane listing carried a "Closed" tag while still appearing in the list, so confirm a firm is taking work.

R&D Tax Incentive and an app built overseas: what Brisbane founders check first

A Brisbane founder holding a Fortitude Valley quote and an offshore one sometimes assumes the R&D Tax Incentive will close the gap. This summarises business.gov.au's pages on applying for an Overseas Finding and excluded activities; whether anything qualifies is your R&D adviser's call.

  • The Overseas Finding comes first, and on time

R&D done abroad can only be claimed with a positive Overseas Finding, applied for before the income year in which the work happens ends. Late applications and extensions are not accepted.

  • Saving money doesn’t count

The overseas work must be needed for a core R&D activity in Australia and impossible to do here alone; a cheaper quote is not an accepted reason. Spending abroad must also stay below the related Australian R&D spending.

  • Apps for your own back office sit outside core R&D

Software built, modified or customised mainly for a business's internal administration can't be core R&D. A rostering or job-sheet app only your staff use usually falls here.

  • Most app builds are ordinary development

Screens, logins and payments built with known tools are routine work, and we won't call a build R&D to help a claim.

Our itemised quote lists each activity on its own line, the breakdown an adviser asks for. If any part of an app we build were eligible R&D, all of it would be overseas activity needing a positive Overseas Finding, which your adviser assesses.

Where Brisbane’s app builders sit, and the growth areas we work with remotely

The addresses in the tables above sit mostly in the inner city: Brisbane CBD (ISH Technologies, Moonward, Appello), Fortitude Valley (App Gurus, Greenhat), Milton (Labrys) and Paddington (DreamWalk on Clutch). Others list Stones Corner, Cannon Hill or Cleveland.

The council's economic profile places Brisbane's health-care jobs around Kelvin Grove–Herston, South Brisbane, Woolloongabba and Chermside. Population growth is further out: Ripley in Ipswich (+3,100 people) and Chambers Flat–Logan Reserve (+1,800) were among Queensland's largest increases in 2024–25 (ABS). We work remotely with businesses in those corridors and in North Lakes and Carindale.

Anywhere on Queensland time, the call slot is the same. Send your app idea and we'll reply with a written AUD price range.

How it works

How a Brisbane app build runs, from first message to the stores

Start on WhatsApp
  1. A WhatsApp message and three screens

Who the app is for and the first three screens they would use. A photographed paper sketch is enough.

  2. A written AUD price range, before any call

You get a range in AUD first, so you can decide whether a scoping call is worth your time.

  3. Scoping call and itemised quote

Users, screens, logins, payments and integrations, then an itemised quote with a fixed price, milestones, timeline and ownership terms.

  4. Clickable screens you approve before code

Tap through a prototype of the main screens on your phone and approve it before development starts.

  5. Fortnightly sprints with builds on your phone

Each sprint ends with a test build you install on your own phone, and the repository stays open for an independent developer to review.

  6. Store review under your accounts, then handover

We submit under your Apple and Google accounts; review timing is up to them. Code and admin logins pass to you.

Ask Ashish directly

Ask on WhatsApp

Who are the best app developers in Brisbane?

No single firm suits every project; the right one depends on budget, procurement rules and how much face-to-face time you want. Compare whether a price is published, where the developers actually work, the minimum project size and who the firm usually builds for. Our shortlist table matches seven firms, ours included, to buyer types, and Clutch's dated list adds verified reviews.

How much does it cost to make an app in Brisbane?

The two Brisbane app pages that publish a figure quote an average of $25,000–$250,000 (ISH Technologies) and a typical $50,000–$250,000 (DreamWalk). Ours runs A$6,900–A$43,000 for iPhone and Android from one codebase. User roles, payments, offline use and links to systems you already run move a price most. Australia-wide ranges and running costs are on our national app development cost page.

What is the smallest budget a Brisbane app company will take on, and can I start with an MVP?

On Clutch's Brisbane list, checked 6 October 2026, minimum projects run from US$1,000+ to US$50,000+, with US$10,000+ the most common. ISH Technologies lists startup MVPs among its Brisbane services, though its published range starts at $25,000. Our floor is A$6,900: one type of user, one core job, a short screen list and both stores, enough to test the idea with real customers.

What do Brisbane app developers charge per hour, and are freelancers cheaper?

Of the pages ranking for this search, only Clutch shows hourly figures: Brisbane listings run from under US$25 to US$200–$300 an hour, and at the RBA rate on 6 October 2026, US$100–$149 is roughly A$143–A$214. None of the Brisbane sources we read publishes a freelancer rate. With a freelancer, ask who covers design, testing on real phones and store submission. We charge one fixed AUD price per project, not by the hour.

How long does it take to build an app in Brisbane?

DreamWalk publishes 4–9 months from idea to App Store, ISH Technologies 6–16 weeks, and Moonward a four-week discovery phase before two-week sprints. Ours takes 4–12 weeks for iPhone and Android from one codebase, depending on the number of screens and integrations. Apple's and Google's review times sit outside anyone's schedule, so leave a margin before a launch date.

Will the App Store and Google Play accounts be in my business name?

They should be, whoever builds the app. We ask you to open both developer accounts under your business and add us as users, so listings, reviews and download history stay yours. You also get read access to the code repository from the first sprint, so another developer could review or take over the code. The IP assignment wording is confirmed in writing before you sign.

If I compare a Brisbane app quote with an offshore one, does the R&D Tax Incentive change the maths?

Usually less than founders hope. Overseas R&D spend needs a positive Overseas Finding, applied for before the income year ends, and a cheaper price doesn't justify it. Spend abroad must stay below the related Australian R&D spend, and most routine app work isn't R&D at all, wherever it's built. Check with your R&D adviser before you choose.

How much is a Brisbane app with 100,000 users worth?

Downloads alone don't set the figure. A buyer or investor looks at revenue, how many users keep coming back and the margin after hosting, support and store commission, so two apps with 100,000 users each can be worth very different amounts. For a number you can rely on, ask a business valuer or accountant.
