Overview
A custom CRM is A$4,900–A$35,000. Send the spreadsheet, paper form or ageing system your team works around and we scope from there. Codingclave is run by its founder, Ashish Sharma, from Lucknow, India: there is no SA office, builds are remote, and video calls fall in the Adelaide afternoon.

Quick answer
How much does custom software development cost in Adelaide in 2026?
With us, A$9,800–A$98,000 over 6–16 weeks, quoted as one fixed figure for your written scope, with optional hosting and support afterwards at A$80–A$240 a month. For comparison, the only Adelaide-labelled figure in Google's cost answer on 6 Oct 2026 came from a guide by an agency with head offices in New York and Delhi: $60,000–$200,000 over 4–9 months. None of the Adelaide-addressed firms we checked that day publishes a project price.
- One-workflow tools (job tracking, client intake, winery Label Integrity records) sit toward the lower end of our band.
- Portals with several user roles and links into other systems sit higher.
- Goodfirms' "$25/hr median" across 36 Adelaide firms is built from self-reported bands, so do not budget from it.
- A salaried developer adds 12% super, recruitment and leave, and testers and cyber security engineers remain in national shortage (JSA 2025).
- Compare quotes on one written scope, not on the hourly rate.

Software companies in Adelaide, side by side: base, rating and price
Custom software developers in Adelaide rarely put a dollar figure online, so we checked. On 6 Oct 2026 we listed every provider in Google's Adelaide map pack and on organic page 1 for this search, then opened the sites of the firms ranking organically. Each cell records what the firm says about itself or what Google shows beside it, not our view of quality. Map-pack firms whose sites we did not open are marked as such.
| Provider | Base | Founded or years | Focus / stack | Google rating | Published project price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Axios | Peel St, Adelaide CBD | 2002 | Microsoft/.NET, Azure | 4.8 (26), map pack | None |
| Astra Custom Software | Pirie St and North Adelaide (both listed) | 8+ years | Flutter, integrations | 4.4 (7), map pack | None |
| Codium | Greenhill Rd, Eastwood | Not stated | Laravel, Vue, AWS | 5.0 (10), map pack | None |
| Digitize | Prospect Rd, Prospect | 10+ years | Business apps, managed hosting | Not in the map pack | None |
| Sanico Software | O'Connell St, North Adelaide | 2020 | Custom software and websites | 5.0 (61), map pack | None |
| Bionic Tech Australia | Adelaide (map pack listing) | – | – | 5.0 (18), map pack | Site not reviewed |
| James Anthony Consulting | Halifax St, Adelaide | – | – | 5.0 (10), map pack | Site not reviewed |
| Microknot | Pitt St, Sydney | 20+ years (its claim) | CRM/ERP, Azure | 5.0 (125) star snippet in organic results; not in the Adelaide map pack | None |
| Basecode | Australia-wide | – | API integrations, cloud | – | Not confirmed on its Adelaide page; its meta description says "Clear pricing" |
| Digital Heroes (cost guide only) | New York and Delhi head offices | – | – | – | $60k–$200k over 4–9 months, in an Adelaide guide dated 26 Jun 2026 |
| Codingclave (us) | Lucknow, India; remote, no SA office | 2017 | Next.js, Laravel, Node, PostgreSQL | Not in the Adelaide map pack; ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews) overall | A$9,800–A$98,000, 6–16 weeks |
Read each star rating next to its review count. Sanico's 5.0 rests on 61 reviews and Astra's 4.4 on 7, while most Adelaide listings on Goodfirms carry one review or none. Ours sit on our client reviews page.
Apart from Digital Heroes' guide range, ours is the only row with a published project price, and the only one fixed per scope. The band for each type of build is in what we charge Adelaide businesses.

Why a ‘$25 an hour’ Adelaide median misleads, and how to compare quotes instead
Ask what Adelaide developers charge per hour and you mostly get one directory figure, which Google's AI answer was repeating on 6 Oct 2026. Here is what sits under it, and a fairer way to weigh quotes.
Self-reported bands, currency unstated
Goodfirms says it reviewed 36 software companies in Adelaide and reports a median of $25 an hour. Each firm enters its own band, no currency is shown, and most Adelaide listings carry zero or one review. The bands on that page run from under $25 an hour to $150–199 for The Distillery and Katalyst Interactive, with Digitize, Rockfort and Enabled at $100–149. A median built from that describes the directory, not an Adelaide project.
Six lines to line up across every Adelaide quote
Before reading any total, check each quote on these lines:
- Scope: one feature list sent to every firm, so each total prices the same system.
- Milestones: what arrives at each stage, and the acceptance test that signs it off.
- Exclusions: migration, integrations, training and content are where gaps hide.
- Hosting: who runs the server, and in which region.
- IP: the assignment wording, and the point at which ownership passes to you.
- Changes: the price of a change request after sign-off.
Hourly vs fixed
An hourly quote moves the cost of a slow fortnight onto you; a fixed figure leaves it with the builder, provided the scope is tight. We never bill Adelaide work by the hour. Australian hourly tiers by seniority are tabled on our Australia-wide custom software cost page.
| Source | Figure | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Digital Heroes guide | $60,000–$200,000, 4–9 months | Adelaide-labelled guide, 26 Jun 2026 |
| Goodfirms directory | $25 an hour median | Self-reported bands across 36 Adelaide firms |
| Codingclave, custom software | A$9,800–A$98,000, 6–16 weeks | One fixed figure per written scope |
| Codingclave, custom CRM | A$4,900–A$35,000 | Leads, jobs and quotes in one system |
What moves a fixed figure, and how a build compares with years of SaaS seats, is covered on custom software development across Australia.

What Adelaide businesses usually build first, by industry
The ABS counted 130,241 businesses trading across Greater Adelaide at 30 June 2025, and 41,336 of them employ staff, which is where several people start needing the same records at once. The table pairs each large ABS division with the first phase we would scope and the band it falls in.
| Industry | Businesses | Typical first phase | Our band |
|---|---|---|---|
| Construction | 22,613 | Job, quote and compliance tracking | Custom CRM, A$4,900–A$35,000 |
| Rental, hiring and real estate | 16,727 | Hire bookings and an asset register; for agencies, listings and tenancy records | Custom CRM, A$4,900–A$35,000; agencies: real estate CRM, A$5,500–A$39,000 |
| Professional, scientific and technical | 15,258 | Client portal with time and matter tracking for firms in the CBD, Kent Town or Mawson Lakes | Custom software, A$9,800–A$98,000 |
| Transport, postal and warehousing | 12,761 (9,415 in 2021) | Driver run sheets with signed delivery records | Custom software, A$9,800–A$98,000 |
| Health care and social assistance | 12,023 (9,288 in 2021) | Patient or client intake portal | Clinic software, A$6,900–A$51,000 |
| Manufacturing (the ABS counts wineries here) | 4,990 | Job costing and QA traceability for plants at Tonsley, Wingfield, Regency Park or Thebarton; for wineries, LIP records | Custom software, A$9,800–A$98,000 |
| Agriculture, forestry and fishing | 3,774 | Grape growers' delivery and block records | Custom CRM, A$4,900–A$35,000 |
Venues after online ordering and a till are better served by our restaurant POS software than a custom build. If drivers or site staff need a phone app, start with Adelaide app developers. Repetitive admin such as invoice entry is often cheaper to automate than rebuild: see AI automation in Adelaide. Clinic owners will find intake detail under medical and allied health clinics. If what you need is a store or site, go to e-commerce, Shopify or WordPress.

Label Integrity Program records for Barossa, Clare, McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills wineries
South Australia crushed about 658,087 tonnes of winegrapes in 2026, roughly 52% of a national crush near 1.27 million tonnes, the smallest since 2000 according to Wine Australia. A short vintage still needs a record for every delivery, blend and transfer.
What the LIP asks for
Under Part VIA of the Wine Australia Act 2013, growers, wineries, packagers, sellers and agents keep an auditable trail known as one step forward, one step back: where wine goods came from and where they went. Records cover vintage, variety and geographical indication (GI), are written within three days of supplying or receiving the goods, and are kept for seven years.
What it leaves to you
The program says what to record, not which system holds it. A spreadsheet copes until fruit from two blocks is blended or bulk wine passes to another party. A blend splits one line into several with shared percentages, and a transfer needs the other party's records to match yours, so the trail breaks at exactly the steps that carry the claims on a label.
A first phase we would scope
Phase 1 would cover intake keyed to the weighbridge docket, blend lineage that carries vintage, variety and GI percentages through each combination, transfer records for wine moving in or out, and an audit export of the trail by batch. That sits inside the A$9,800–A$98,000 custom software band. Links to cellar or accounting software you already run are assessed first, and their scope is agreed in your contract.
Whether the cellar is in the Barossa Valley, the Clare Valley, McLaren Vale or the Adelaide Hills, a photo of the current intake sheet is enough to start.

Defence, DISP or classified data? Use a cleared Australian firm. For everything else, compare us
If the developer has to sit inside your security perimeter, read this first. Some Adelaide firms say all work stays onshore, and one lists Defence Teaming Centre membership. For certain projects that outweighs price, and we would rather say so up front.
Choose an Australian entity when...
- DISP is a condition of your contract. Defence may require its Defence Industry Security Program for some work, and a member must be a legal business registered in Australia with an ABN or ACN, with a director or senior executive able to hold an Australian security clearance. Codingclave is an Indian LLP, so it cannot join.
- The system will hold classified or security-controlled data, such as material from the SSN-AUKUS submarine program the Australian Submarine Agency is building at Osborne. That data belongs with a cleared Australian supplier.
- Workshops must happen in person at Osborne, Edinburgh or Lonsdale.
- The tender asks for a supplier with an ABN. We do not hold one.
In any of those cases, a software development company in Adelaide with the right clearances is the better buy.
Where a remote fixed-price team fits
Most business systems touch no classified material: internal tools, CRMs, customer portals, LIP record systems and links between software you already pay for. That includes a manufacturer's commercial side, such as quoting, job costing or QA records for a plant at Tonsley or Wingfield, while any Defence data stays with a cleared supplier. For that work you get a fixed figure, a staging link at each milestone and a repository in your business's name.

Your customers’ records and an India-based developer: APP 8, s16C and the A$3m threshold
Australian Privacy Principle 8.1 requires reasonable steps before personal information is disclosed to an overseas recipient, and section 16C keeps the Adelaide business accountable for how that recipient handles it (OAIC APP Guidelines, chapter 8). The A$3 million turnover exemption covers many small firms, yet a two-room Unley physio is covered whatever it turns over, because health service providers always are. Greater Adelaide had 12,023 health care and social assistance businesses at 30 June 2025, up from 9,288 in 2021. What follows summarises OAIC guidance as general information; whether APP 8 applies to you is a question for your own adviser.
Masked or test data in development
We build and test against masked or invented records. Real customer or patient data arrives only at migration, under access you approve.
Least-privilege access you can revoke
Each developer login gets only the permissions its task needs, inside accounts your business owns, so you can switch it off any day.
A hosting region your privacy policy can name
Where the system and its backups live is agreed in your contract, so the privacy policy you publish can describe it accurately.

Afternoon calls, late-evening releases: working on ACDT now and ACST from 4 April 2027
Adelaide keeps a half-hour offset, and since Sunday 4 Oct 2026 it has been on ACDT, UTC+10:30, so our 10:00–19:00 IST day runs from 3:00pm to midnight there. The release cycle follows that: your staff test while we are on the call in the afternoon, fixes are worked on in our evening hours and land on staging for your next-morning check, and an internal system goes live late at night once the office has logged off.
| Period | Adelaide clock | Our working window | Overlap with 9–5 | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 Oct 2026–4 Apr 2027 | ACDT, UTC+10:30 | 3:00pm–12:00am | 2 h (3–5pm) | Demos and user testing 3–5pm; fixes worked on in our evening; releases after hours |
| 4 Apr 2027–3 Oct 2027 | ACST, UTC+9:30 | 2:30pm–11:30pm | 2.5 h (2:30–5pm) | The same rhythm, half an hour earlier |
| Saturdays | Either | Same window | – | Owner reviews outside the working week |
Saturdays run on the same hours, which suits owners who look over progress at the weekend. Messages sent on an Adelaide morning or a Sunday are picked up in our next working window.

Hiring a developer in SA, or commissioning a fixed project
An employee costs more than the advertised salary. The ATO sets the super guarantee at 12% for 2026–27, and recruitment fees, leave cover, a laptop and the hours someone spends directing the work come on top. Jobs and Skills Australia's 2025 Occupation Shortage List also shows where recruiting gets hard: Software Engineer and Developer Programmer are no longer rated in shortage nationally, but Software Tester and Cyber Security Engineer still are.
| Item | Hire one SA developer | Fixed project with us |
|---|---|---|
| Pay | Ongoing salary at the market rate for the role | One figure inside A$9,800–A$98,000 |
| Super | 12% on top of salary (ATO, 2026–27) | Not applicable |
| Testing and security | Software Tester and Cyber Security Engineer still in national shortage (JSA 2025) | Testing and deployment included in the written scope |
| Recruitment, leave, equipment | Extra, not costed here | Not applicable |
| After launch | Salary continues | Optional, A$80–A$240 a month |
Hiring wins when there is product work for years, not months, and someone in-house to direct it. A one-off system with a clear finish line usually suits a fixed project, which needs no job ad at all. IP, payments and support: the terms an Adelaide project starts on
Your repository, from the first commit
The code lives in a Git repository under your business's account, so every change is visible as it lands. Why the IP assignment wording matters under Australian copyright law is explained on our national custom software page.
Terms set for your business before you sign
These are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign:
- the IP assignment wording and the point at which ownership passes
- any deposit, the milestone split, payment timing and payment method
- any warranty or bug-fix period after launch
- the hosting region for the system and its backups
- the scope of each integration with software you already run
Milestones you check on staging
Every stage is released to a staging link your staff can click through before sign-off, so nothing reaches the live system untested.
After go-live
An optional plan at A$80–A$240 a month keeps the server running, backed up and monitored, and covers support once the system is live.
Take-over and modernisation
An existing Laravel, PHP, Node or WordPress system is assessed first, code and hosting, then the repair or rebuild is priced inside the band.
Running sites in other cities too? Each city page uses its own figures: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and the Gold Coast.
