Quick answer
How much does a Google Ads agency cost in Canberra?
Codingclave manages Google Ads for Canberra businesses from A$990 a month, inside a A$990–A$9,800 band set by campaigns and location sets, month-to-month under written terms. Of the nine pages Google ranked for this search on 6 October 2026, only two print a fee figure: Otto Media at A$300–A$500 a month on A$1,000–A$4,000 of spend, with a three-month minimum paid monthly in advance, and Firewire Digital from A$1,200 a month flat, also with a three-month minimum. Google bills the clicks to your card on top, plus 10% GST. No source publishes a Canberra cost per click, so a real budget starts in Keyword Planner with your own search terms.
- Seven of the nine ranking pages print no fee figure
- Four are run from interstate and a fifth lists only a Sydney number
- Where an agency sits matters less than whose name the account is in
- Clicks and Google's 10% GST sit outside every fee quoted
- Firewire and Otto set three-month minimums; ours runs monthly

Nine Canberra Google Ads pages: fees, terms, reviews and where each is run from
We searched "google ads agency canberra" on google.com.au on 6 October 2026 and reread every ranking page on 7 October. Better Agencies is a directory, so its row shows what it lists. "None" means the ranking page shows no figure, and provider names open the page we read in a new tab.
| Provider | Where they work from | Management fee published | Ad spend figure published | Term and notice | Account ownership stated | Reviews shown | Google Partner badge |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Firewire Digital | Newcastle NSW, remote-first | From A$1,200 a month, flat | Case by case | 3-month minimum, then month-to-month | Client keeps the account | Testimonials, no star count | Yes |
| Otto Media | Canberra ACT (virtual office) | A$300–A$500 a month | A$1,000–A$4,000 a month, 100% paid to Google | 3-month minimum, paid monthly in advance, auto-renews monthly, 30 days' notice | Not stated | None | No ("certified" specialists) |
| Scott Shorter | North Coogee WA | Flat fee, no figure | None | No lock-in stated | Not stated | 5.0 (122 Google reviews) | Yes, plus Microsoft |
| David Kloeber | Melbourne | None | None | No lock-in, 4 weeks' notice | Not stated | 5.0, no count shown | Yes, with a certification link |
| JSLmedia | Canberra City (Marcus Clarke St) | "Fixed packages", no figure | None | None | Not stated | None | Claimed |
| IT Scale | Hume ACT | None | None | None | Not stated | 4 first-name testimonials | No ("certified" claim) |
| Gravitate Digital | Tweed Heads South NSW | None | None | None | Not stated | 5.0 (71) in the search result | Google, Meta, Shopify and Klaviyo badges |
| Digital Marketing Tribe | Not stated (Sydney 02 number) | None | None | No lock-in (snippet) | Not stated | 5 stars (24 reviews) | Yes |
| Better Agencies directory (paid a referral fee on introductions you take up) | Lists Cybersecure Solutions (Whitlam ACT), Stavridis Group (Isaacs ACT), JSLmedia and Odin Digital (Melbourne) | None | Cybersecure: A$1,000–A$3,000 a month starting budget | None | Not stated | None | Not applicable |
| Codingclave (this page) | Lucknow, India (remote, WhatsApp-first; no Australian office or ABN) | A$990–A$9,800 a month, set by campaigns and locations | Your choice, billed by Google to your card | Month-to-month, in writing | Your account, your admin access | ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews) | No |
The base column isn't a ranking of quality. Four of the nine are run from interstate and a fifth gives only a Sydney number, yet Google ranks them all. Reviews and badges explain much of Scott Shorter's click advantage but not how your account will be run, so weigh the terms too: how long you're tied in, whose name the account sits in, and who watches it weekly.
Send your services and the suburbs you cover on WhatsApp and we'll reply with where you'd sit in our band.

Fee, clicks and GST: a Canberra month added up
Opening a Google Ads account costs nothing; the clicks are what you pay for. A Canberra month carries three lines: the management fee, click spend, and the 10% GST that Google Australia Pty Limited adds for accounts with an Australian business address.
Daily budgets flex. On a busy day Google may spend up to double your average daily budget, but the month stops at 30.4 times it. The figures below are arithmetic at that cap, not a forecast of results.
| Example | Daily budget | Most Google can spend on one day | Monthly cap (30.4x) | GST added by Google Australia | Google's invoice at the cap | Total with our fee at the band floor (A$990) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fyshwick electrician | A$40 | A$80 | A$1,216 | A$121.60 | A$1,337.60 | A$2,327.60 |
| Braddon physio | A$25 | A$50 | A$760 | A$76 | A$836 | A$1,826 |
The last column uses our band floor for arithmetic, not as your quote. On the same two budgets, Firewire's published A$1,200 floor would bring the totals to A$2,537.60 and A$2,036.
When our fee doesn't make sense. In the Fyshwick row the floor fee comes to about 81% of the click spend. If your budget is that size or smaller, Otto Media's published A$300–A$500, or running the account yourself, may suit you better, and we'll tell you so before you sign. What our fee pays for is weekly search-term and negative keyword clean-up, conversion tracking tested before launch, and border settings checked against your real catchment, with no three-month minimum.
Click costs by trade are in Australia-wide click prices by industry and the national trades worked example.

Badges, account ownership and what nobody can promise
What the Partner badge column tells you
The badge column in the fees table shows who displays one. To hold it, an agency needs a 70% optimisation score, US$10,000 of managed spend across 90 days and at least half its account strategists certified. That measures scale and process, not your results. Codingclave isn't a Google Partner; our national vetting questions go further than the badge.
What we can show instead
★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), 200+ projects since 2017 (our work), Top Rated on Upwork and founder-led delivery. We have no Canberra case study to point to, so this page sets out the method instead.
Your account, your tracking, your exit
The account is in your business's name, with your card and your admin access; we join as a user you can remove. Conversions record in your own GA4 and Tag Manager. Our term is month-to-month in writing, against Firewire's three-month minimum and Otto Media's three-month minimum plus 30 days' notice. If you leave, the ad copy, keyword lists and history stay where they are. How our fee is invoiced is set out in the written quote.
Promo credit shouldn’t choose your agency
Google's Australian promotional credit is one per customer, for new advertisers whose first impression came no more than 14 days before entering the code. It expires 60 days after it's applied and can't pay taxes, so it's a poor reason to pick a provider or to accept a longer term.
Limits we put in writing
No one can guarantee leads, rankings, ad positions or a Quality Score, and we don't. Spend goes to Google, never through us. With no Canberra address we won't appear in the map pack or claim to be local; profile work happens on your own Business Profile via SEO in Canberra.

Targeting Canberra and Queanbeyan: the border setting an ACT-only target misses
Target "Australian Capital Territory" alone and the ads stop at the border: Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong are in New South Wales, so each needs adding.
The second setting decides who counts as being in a location. Presence reaches people physically in the area. Presence or interest also reaches people showing interest in it, such as a Sydney resident planning a Canberra weekend. Google calls the broad option best practice on Search, and says Presence makes sense when you only want people in specific locations.
| Business pattern | Location targets | Presence setting | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trade covering all of Canberra plus Queanbeyan (Fyshwick base) | ACT + Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong (NSW) | Presence | Yass or Bungendore calls you don't service: add exclusions |
| Clinic or studio with a walk-in catchment (Braddon / Inner North) | Radius around the premises | Presence | Too wide a radius pulls in Gungahlin or Molonglo Valley searches that rarely convert |
| Retail or hospitality in Belconnen, Woden or Tuggeranong town centres | District radius per town centre, separate ad groups | Presence | Split budget so one centre doesn't starve the rest |
| Hospitality and accommodation in event weeks (Kingston, Braddon, near Commonwealth Park) | ACT plus interstate interest | Presence or interest | Visitors planning trips from Sydney or regional NSW |
| B2G consultancy selling to Commonwealth entities | ACT, plus national if buyers sit interstate | Presence or interest (Google's Search best practice) | Job-seeker clicks on APS-related terms: add negatives |
Only the two Presence definitions are Google's; each row is our starting recommendation, later corrected by your search terms. Organic district pages are a separate job, covered in the Canberra district guide: that's SEO, and this table is where ads show. Your own Google Business Profile is handled through SEO in Canberra.

No one publishes a Canberra click price, so here’s how we’d build yours
Digital Nomads HQ's Click Price Index (May 2026 data, updated 19 July 2026) has "service + city" medians for Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, the Sunshine Coast and Adelaide. Canberra isn't covered, and no ranking page offers a figure either.
Why a capital-city CPC from Sydney won’t transfer
Sydney's A$23.21 median, the highest in the index, reflects a different market, likely with more searchers and more bidders. A Canberra term could cost more or less, so borrowing the figure buys false precision; Adelaide's A$13.70, the lowest, is no better a proxy.
Keyword Planner run on your terms, with ACT plus NSW border locations
We run Keyword Planner on the searches you'd pay for: the service, the suburb, "near me" and the problem a customer types. Locations go in as the ACT plus Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong, so the estimates describe your real catchment.
Reading low-volume, high-intent terms
Canberra searches are thin: even Google's autocomplete for ad agencies here offers only two phrases. If Keyword Planner shows your terms are just as thin, judge on a quarter of enquiries, not a week of impressions.
What we send back: a spend range and what it would take to test, not a promise
A written sheet in the format below, plus the weeks of data we'd want before judging. No lead count; planner estimates can't honestly produce one.
| Term | ACT + border monthly searches | Top-of-page bid range | Starting daily budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service + suburb, e.g. "emergency electrician Queanbeyan" | Planner estimate for your locations | Planner low–high range | Set by you from that range |
| Problem phrase, e.g. "switchboard keeps tripping" | Planner estimate for your locations | Planner low–high range | Set by you from that range |
The six city medians are in our national budgets section. Already advertising? Send a screenshot of your account overview (last 90 days) and we'll reply with what we'd change first.

Writing ads for Canberra readers, and when to move budget
A degree-heavy market reads past hype
At the 2021 Census, 42.9% of ACT residents held a bachelor degree or higher, against 26.3% nationally, and median household income was A$2,373 a week against A$1,746 across Australia. Readers like that check claims. Put specifics in the ad (a price-from, the licence, the suburbs, the turnaround) and prove each on the landing page; "Canberra's best" with nothing behind it buys a click and loses the call.
Landing pages that match the ad
An ad naming a price and a suburb should land on a page repeating both, with a call button up top. Trades can start with tradie websites in Canberra; WordPress sites can add an ads page through WordPress developers in Canberra.
Floriade and event weeks
Floriade fills Commonwealth Park from mid-September to mid-October each year (2026 ran 12 September–11 October, with NightFest 1–4 October). Venues near the park, in Kingston and Braddon, can plan a bid lift and Presence or interest targeting for those weeks from last year's booking history, then ease off once the gates close.
EOFY and the summer lull
The financial year closes on 30 June. If your buyers work to annual budgets, check last year's enquiries for a May–June rise and hold budget for it. Office-based buyers often go quiet after Christmas, which suits pausing B2G campaigns while trade campaigns run. Test both against your account history.

Working with a Lucknow team on Canberra time
Our week runs Monday to Saturday on India time (UTC+5:30). It starts as a Canberra office afternoon winds down, so most of our working day falls in your evening. Exact times on a Canberra clock, before and after daylight saving ends, are in the Canberra city guide.
What the evening shift means for an ad account
Afternoon video calls cover launches and reviews. Changes you approve go live that evening, with a written note by morning. Need something stopped at 8am? The account is yours, so you can pause any campaign yourself in the Google Ads app, and we'll show you how at handover. Saturdays are working days for us too.

Selling to Commonwealth buyers: what ads can and can’t do under the A$125,000 line
Firewire and David Kloeber mention government suppliers without explaining what changed in Commonwealth buying. The rules below are summarised from MinterEllison's briefing (general information, not procurement advice).
What changed on 17 November 2025
The Commonwealth Procurement Rules raised the threshold for non-corporate Commonwealth entities from A$80,000 to A$125,000. For non-construction buys of A$10,000–A$125,000 (up to A$7.5 million for construction) they must invite only Australian businesses. For buys under A$125,000 from the Management Advisory Services Panel, the People Panel and DTA-managed platforms, entities must invite only SMEs, with exceptions.
Why being findable by name and capability matters more
With the threshold at A$125,000, more purchases can fall below the point where an open approach to market is required, so buyers may more often approach suppliers they already know of or can find by name. And the buyers are concentrated here: 70,221 APS staff were based in the ACT at 30 June 2025, 35.4% of the APS (APSC data reported by Region Canberra).
Campaigns that fit: brand defence, capability and panel-name terms
Three small campaigns: brand defence, so your firm's name returns your page before a directory's; capability terms in buyers' words, such as "WHS audit ACT"; and the panels you're on, where people search them. Set Presence or interest around the ACT, and add negatives such as "jobs", "careers", "APS6", "EL1" and "graduate program".
What ads won’t do: panels and AusTender decide
No ad puts you on a panel or past a procurement process. Whether your firm counts as an Australian business or an SME is yours, with your adviser, to confirm. Ads only make sure a buyer who has your name finds you first.
Capability statements and BuyICT wording are in our guide to selling to Canberra agencies. Gov supplier? Send your panel and capability terms on WhatsApp.

Check before you budget: Google’s government documents rule from 5 October 2026
Google posted an update to its Government documents and services policy on 4 August 2026 and began enforcing it on 5 October. No page in our table mentions it, yet it hits visa, passport and business-registration advertisers directly.
Who is now restricted, and what may still run
Ads for direct acquisition of government documents or services, such as passports, travel or student visas, ABNs and some tax rebates, may run only from certified governments and authorised providers. Their domain must be linked from an official government site naming them as authorised, and ads may target only the region covered (e-visas are one exception). Advice-led services that don't obtain the document for the customer, such as a paid migration consultation, may fall outside the rule, depending on the ad and page; this isn't legal advice. Migration agents' own advertising duties are in our national sector rules.
Our policy check before launch
We read your offer and landing page against the policy, ask whether you hold an authorisation and where it's linked, and tell you in writing, before any fee is agreed, if we expect disapprovals.
Offer visa or ABN help? Ask us to check your ads against the October 2026 policy before you set a budget.

What Codingclave charges a Canberra advertiser
Your fee sits inside A$990–A$9,800 a month. It moves with the number of campaigns and location sets (the ACT plus NSW border suburbs counts as one set; a campaign per town centre is several), any Shopping feed and government-supplier brand work, and not with how much you spend at Google.
