Overview

On 6 Oct 2026, only 2 of the 8 providers ranking for this search clearly operated from a Gold Coast address, and none of the pages we could open printed a build figure. Codingclave quotes A$9,800–A$98,000 for a custom system, built over 6–16 weeks, and fixes one AUD figure against a written scope before work starts. We work remotely from Lucknow, India, so in place of office visits you get a private test version (a staging link) at each milestone to try with your own records.

Quick answer

What does custom software cost for a Gold Coast business?

Our custom software band is A$9,800–A$98,000 for a system, portal or SaaS MVP, and a custom CRM is A$4,900–A$35,000; the figure is fixed in AUD once the scope is written. On the Gold Coast the quote usually moves on local detail: a builder wanting variations and progress claims synced to Xero or MYOB, a property manager needing Form 22 fields and 48-hour entry checks, or a clinic needing role permissions and access logs in the first release. Builds run 6–16 weeks (CRMs 4–8). None of the ranking Gold Coast pages we opened on 6 Oct 2026 showed a build price.

  • Queensland builders: QBCC contract checks, variations and claims, in the A$9,800–A$98,000 band
  • Property managers: A$5,500–A$39,000 for a real estate website and CRM
  • Clinic software A$6,900–A$51,000; NDIS intake portal A$7,900–A$49,000
  • Optional hosting and support after launch: A$80–A$240 a month

Custom software development on the Gold Coast: who is where and what they publish (checked 6 Oct 2026)

Checked 6 Oct 2026: 8 providers across Google's map pack and page one, 2 clearly working from Gold Coast addresses, no build price on any page we could open, and 1 published minimum project size (Appello, $50,000+ on Clutch).

The table records the address each business gives and any price or timeline its page shows, so it doubles as a shortlist of who a Gold Coast search turns up. TMD Online, a Mermaid Beach business in the map pack, is listed by Google as a website designer, so it sits outside the table. For Australia-wide price tiers and hourly rates, see our national custom software cost guide.

Only CMD Software (Burleigh Heads) and TMD Online (Mermaid Beach) clearly operate from Gold Coast addresses, and Appello's Southport listing belongs to a firm Clutch places in Sydney. Looking for the major IT companies in Queensland more broadly? Most page-one names here run from Brisbane, interstate or overseas, and our Brisbane custom software page covers that market.

Codingclave isn't on the Gold Coast either: we have no Australian office, staff, phone number or ABN. In place of a shopfront you get a written scope, one AUD figure, a staging link at every milestone and a WhatsApp line to Ashish Sharma, the founder, from 2:30pm to 11:30pm AEST.

Gold Coast studio or fixed-price remote team: how to choose

The choice turns on how much of the project has to happen in person, and on how firmly the scope can be pinned down before anyone writes code.

  • What you keep control of either way

Whoever you hire, ask for repository access early, hosting and third-party accounts opened in your business's name, and payments tied to milestones you have tested. Those are general rules worth writing into any software contract. With us, the payment split, the IP-assignment wording, code access and the point at which ownership passes are confirmed in writing for your business before you sign; our national page explains who owns the code. We build on Next.js and React, Node.js, Laravel and PostgreSQL, which any competent developer can review.

  • Questions to settle before signing with an overseas team

Ask how invoices are raised, how the payment split works, where the data will be hosted (clinic and NDIS systems especially), what happens if the project pauses or stops halfway, and how long post-launch fixes are covered. We don't publish standard answers to those here: each one is confirmed in writing for your business before you sign, so the scope you set beside other quotes already contains them. More on how we run projects from India sits under remote delivery.

  • When a nearby studio is worth the premium

Pay for a developer with a Gold Coast address when people need to be in the room: discovery workshops at your whiteboard, hands-on training for crews who rarely sit at a desk, scanners or tablets fitted on a warehouse floor at Yatala, or someone who can turn up the day something stops working. We can't offer any of that.

  • When a remote fixed-price build fits

A remote build suits work you can describe on paper: who enters what, who approves it and which report comes out. It also suits budgets below the lowest band on Dev House's form (AUD 25k–50k) and Appello's $50,000+ Clutch minimum, since our custom builds start at A$9,800 and CRMs at A$4,900. You need to be comfortable reviewing on a video call and clicking through staging yourself.

  • Taking over a half-built system

A familiar Gold Coast version: a builder's previous developer left a job app half-finished, or a property manager's portal stopped getting updates. Before anyone can quote, we need an invite to the code repository and access to the hosting, or at least a screen recording of what breaks. The review checks whether the code runs as delivered, whether you actually hold the repository, domain and hosting logins, how far behind the frameworks are, and whether the database has working backups. The answer comes back as fix, extend or rebuild, with the first milestone quoted in AUD like any other job.

Our record: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), 200+ projects since 2017, Top Rated on Upwork, and founder-led delivery with Ashish Sharma as your point of contact. Read the reviews and browse past work before you decide.

What the Gold Coast’s 83,266 businesses tend to get built

At 30 June 2025 the ABS counted 83,266 trading businesses in the Gold Coast local government area, up from 78,040 in 2023. Of the 30,923 that employ staff, 21,663 have 1–4 people, 7,072 have 5–19 and 2,188 have 20 or more.

The signs that one of these firms needs a system usually look ordinary:

  • the same job keyed into a job sheet, then again into Xero
  • site staff texting photos instead of logging them against the job
  • a quoting spreadsheet only one person understands
  • tenancy or intake paperwork chased through a shared inbox

The right first build is normally one of those workflows, not an ERP. For a builder, milestone one is usually variations and progress claims rather than the whole job cycle. If a subscription tool already covers the workflow, compare it first using our build vs SaaS maths.

Gold Coast business clusters, from south to north:

  • Coolangatta and Tweed Heads: businesses that straddle the state border and its two clocks for half the year.
  • Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach: hospitality and retail along the southern beaches, suited to booking and ordering tools.
  • Robina and Varsity Lakes: office-based firms, where a client portal or CRM is the likelier build.
  • Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise: the accommodation and hospitality strip, where booking and rostering tools matter most.
  • Southport: the CBD and the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct.
  • Helensvale, Coomera and Yatala: the northern corridor, where marine and industrial firms tend to need dispatch, stock and job tracking.

Queensland rules to write into your software spec

Use this as a spec checklist, not legal advice: confirm each point with QBCC, the RTA or your lawyer before it shapes a contract or a form.

Builders can send a current contract template, and property managers their tenancy application, and we'll point out which rows your current process doesn't yet check. Screening or auto-approving applicants? Ask for the decision log in your build before 10 December 2026.

Clinic tools and health-tech MVPs around the Southport precinct

The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct in Southport spans 200 hectares, with more than $5 billion of health, research and education infrastructure, over 1,000 researchers and 16,000 workers. Typical small builds for clinicians and founders there: a minimum viable product that runs one study workflow for a pilot, a referral intake that replaces emailed PDFs and phone messages, or a dashboard showing clinicians the caseload they now track by hand.

Health data carries Privacy Act obligations at any turnover, so read the privacy rows in the Queensland rules table before scoping. Pricing detail sits on our pages for medical and allied health clinics and NDIS providers.

Running a pilot or a referral intake? Send the workflow on WhatsApp and we'll scope the smallest version worth testing.

A milestone week on Queensland time

Queensland never moves its clocks, so our working window on the Gold Coast reads 2:30pm to 11:30pm AEST in every month. Against a 9-to-5 day that leaves 2.5 shared hours, and the rhythm below holds in January and July alike.

  • Monday: your feedback goes in

Send notes on the last build by WhatsApp or email whenever suits. Written comments work best, because each becomes a line on the fix list.

  • Mid-week: 3pm AEST demo on staging

We walk through the milestone on a video call while both sides are at a desk, then leave the staging link with you.

  • That evening: small fixes

Small fixes raised in the demo are usually made the same evening. Bigger changes go into the next milestone, priced before anyone starts on them.

  • Next morning: ready to test

Small fixes can be on staging the next morning, with a short note on what changed; the agreed turnaround is set in the scope.

  • Saturday: a working day

Saturday is a working day for us from 2:30pm AEST, which suits owners who can only test once the site or clinic has closed for the week.

  • Tweed Heads staff

The 3pm demo is 4pm on the NSW clock until 4 Apr 2027, so book it on Queensland time.

Is there a Queensland grant for your software build? (schedule updated 24 Sep 2026)

Builders are the group to watch. With 15,355 construction businesses, the largest industry on the Gold Coast, the Construction Business Advancement Grant is the round on Business Queensland's schedule with the most obvious local audience. It is marked as opening soon with dates to be confirmed, and its eligibility hasn't been published, so nobody can yet say whether software would qualify.

The rest of the 24 Sep 2026 schedule has no digital round for small business:

  • Secure Communities Partnership Program, Round 3: opening soon, dates to be confirmed
  • Regional Business Gateways, Round 1: assessments underway
  • Business Growth Fund, Round 7: projects underway
  • Business Boost, Round 4: completed on 31 August 2026

Don't hold a project back for a round that isn't open. If you're watching the construction grant, a written scope and AUD figure prepared now means your costs are documented should the round open and turn out to cover software. The federal R&D Tax Incentive is a separate question, covered on our national page.

How it works

How a Gold Coast build runs, from first file to handover

Start on WhatsApp
  1. Send what you use now

A job sheet, a tenancy checklist, an intake form or a SaaS export, by WhatsApp or email. Real files show the edge cases a feature list leaves out.

  2. Get a written scope and one AUD figure

Milestones, exclusions and a single fixed price in AUD, in one document you can put next to any other quote.

  3. Approve the screens and the record list

Clickable screens show each step, and a plain-English list sets out what gets stored and how records link. Both are signed off before the build begins.

  4. Test each milestone with Queensland cases

Every milestone is demoed at 3pm AEST, then you try it on staging with your own records. For builders that means contracts either side of the $3,300 and $20,000 QBCC thresholds; for property managers, entry bookings just under and over 48 hours. How payments line up with milestones is confirmed in writing for your business before you sign.

  5. Bring in everyone who will use it

Office staff, site crews and anyone working from Tweed Heads join the same Queensland-time demo, so the people who enter the data test it before launch.

  6. Launch and handover

The system goes live, and the repository and accounts pass to you on the terms set out in the scope. Hosting and support at A$80–A$240 a month is optional.

How much does custom software development cost on the Gold Coast?

With Codingclave, A$9,800–A$98,000 for a custom system, portal or SaaS MVP, and A$4,900–A$35,000 for a custom CRM. The figure is fixed in AUD against a written scope, and builds take 6–16 weeks (4–8 for a CRM). Local studios mostly keep their numbers off the page: none of the ranking Gold Coast pages we could open on 6 Oct 2026 printed a build price, which is why the comparison table above records what each provider does show. Market-wide tiers and hourly rates are on our national custom software page.

Who are the software development companies on the Gold Coast, and where are they based?

On 6 October 2026 the providers ranking for this search were CMD Software, with a Burleigh Heads listing; TMD Online in Mermaid Beach, listed as a website designer; Appello Software, with a Southport map listing and a Sydney head office according to Clutch; ISH Technologies in Brisbane's CBD; Dev House Australia in Sydney; Nuclieos in Melbourne and Delaware; and Media Shark in Mossman, Far North Queensland. Basecode's page wouldn't open for us. Codingclave works remotely from Lucknow, India.

Is bespoke software worth it for a small Gold Coast business?

It depends on what you pay now and for how long. The Gold Coast has 7,072 businesses with 5–19 staff, and at that size per-seat subscriptions add up: multiply the monthly seat price by your users and by 36 months, then set it beside a fixed build in our A$9,800–A$98,000 band, or A$4,900–A$35,000 for a CRM, plus optional hosting at A$80–A$240 a month. If an off-the-shelf tool already fits your workflow, keep it. Custom pays off when staff work around the software every day.

Can a software company outside Queensland build our Gold Coast system?

Yes, provided you can test it properly from where you sit. For software that means acceptance testing on a staging copy loaded with your own jobs, tenancies or client records; a migration plan naming which spreadsheet columns or SaaS exports move across and who checks them; and access to the code repository, so another developer could take over if needed. Codingclave works remotely with 2.5 shared hours a day on Queensland time, and code-access terms are confirmed in writing before you sign. If on-site installs matter most, pick a studio with a Gold Coast address.

Does software for a Queensland builder need to follow QBCC contract rules?

If it produces contracts for domestic building work, it should be built around them. QBCC requires a written contract above $3,300 including labour, materials and GST, with Level 1 covering $3,301 to $19,999 and Level 2 starting at $20,000. At $20,000 or more the owner receives the consumer building guide before signing, and a signed copy is due within 5 business days. Software can pick the template from the price and track those dates. This is general information, not legal advice, so confirm with QBCC.

What do Queensland's 2025 rental law changes mean for property management software?

Since 1 May 2025, Queensland property managers and owners must use the standard application form, Form 22 or R22 for rooming accommodation, and may collect only limited personal information from applicants. Entry notice is now at least 48 hours, up from 24, and any financial benefit from a rent-payment method has to be disclosed in writing. Software should mirror the form field for field, refuse to book entries inside 48 hours and keep a disclosure record on every tenancy. Check the detail with the RTA.

Do I need to update my privacy policy if our software makes automated decisions?

Yes, from 10 December 2026, if your business is covered by the Privacy Act and a computer program makes a decision, or does something substantially and directly related to making one, that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect someone's rights or interests. Under APP 1.7 to 1.9 the policy must then describe the kinds of personal information used and the kinds of decisions. Tenant screening and auto-approvals are likely examples. Most businesses turning over $3 million or less are exempt, but health service providers and tenancy database operators are covered whatever their turnover. Ask your lawyer about the wording.

Does Queensland not having daylight saving affect working with an overseas development team?

It makes the arrangement steadier. Because the Gold Coast stays on AEST, our Monday-to-Saturday window of 2:30pm to 11:30pm doesn't shift between seasons, and it overlaps a 9-to-5 day by 2.5 hours all year. The exception is staff in Tweed Heads, which follows NSW daylight saving from 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027: there the same window starts at 3:30pm, leaving 1.5 hours of overlap. Book demos and calls on Queensland time so everyone works from one calendar.
