Overview

WordPress builds cost A$900–A$4,300 and coded builds A$1,200–A$6,900, both excl. GST, live in 1–3 weeks. Our team is in Lucknow, India, so calls fit the evening after clinic. On 7 October 2026 we opened four dental web specialists from Google's page one, ads included (Great Dental Websites, Practice Boost, AEK Media, Local Health Marketing); one printed a price.

Quick answer

How much does a dental website cost in Melbourne?

Most practice sites fit one of two bands. A WordPress site your practice manager can edit runs A$900 to A$4,300 excl. GST and takes 1–2 weeks; a coded build for a group, a specialist referral flow or extra page speed runs A$1,200 to A$6,900 excl. GST over 1–3 weeks. From launch, add A$80 to A$240 a month for hosting, backups and small edits. Practice Boost, the one Google page-one dental specialist we found printing a figure, starts at "from $3,000+" with 4–6 weeks to launch. Across Australia, dental agencies that publish prices sit between about $3,000 and $15,000.

Who shows up when you search dental website design in Melbourne, and what they publish

We opened the dental web specialists Google Australia showed for this search, checked 6–7 October 2026, organic results and ads alike, and wrote down prices only as printed. Three more pages (dentalwebsitedesign.com.au, 21 Webs and Media Exchange's dental page) would not load or returned an error, so they are left out. A general web designer, Graphicl, appeared only as a Google ad (seen 6 October: "from $1,200 fixed"); we did not open its page. The map pack held one listing, a website designer in Footscray with 2 reviews, and we could not confirm who runs it. Send your current URL on WhatsApp and we will send back a free written check of it.

Questions to put to every studio on your list

  • Does the quoted figure include GST?
  • Which booking route have you set up before: HotDoc, HealthEngine, Centaur D4W, Praktika or Core Practice?
  • In whose name are the domain and the code registered?
  • What happens if the launch date slips?

We set our launch date from the day you sign off copy and photos, and every change shows on a staging link you can open on your own phone, so a slip is visible early instead of on launch day. We do not offer a money-back guarantee. For the Australia-wide price lines, see our national dental websites page.

What moves a dental website quote for a Melbourne practice

Practice Boost's "from $3,000+" comes without line items, and the other three specialists print no figure at all. These are the lines that shift a quote within our bands. Pricing a non-dental site as well? Melbourne website costs are on our Melbourne page.

  • Provider and team pages

A two-dentist surgery in Richmond needs two profiles; a group with six dentists, three oral health therapists and two hygienists needs eleven, each with a photo, registered title and chair days. Headcount is usually the biggest single driver of a dentist website quote, and the scope names every profile.

  • Booking route

A Book Now button that opens your HotDoc, HealthEngine or practice-software booking page costs less than a widget embedded in your own pages, which needs styling, phone testing and a fallback. Before quoting we check whether your system allows a link-out, an embed or both; the vendor detail is in our booking-software table.

  • Extra Melbourne locations

Each address adds a location page with its own hours, team, map, parking note and booking link. For example, a Doncaster practice adding Box Hill pays for those pages, not for a second website.

  • Secure intake and photo upload

A name-and-phone enquiry form sits inside the website bands. Medical-history forms and smile-photo uploads need secure storage and restricted access, which adds build time. A full patient portal with logins becomes clinic software, quoted from A$6,900 (custom software in Melbourne).

  • Copy and photography

Copy you write costs less than copy we draft after interviewing the principal dentist. We cannot shoot onsite, so you book a Melbourne photographer and we send the shot list.

  • Moving an old site without losing its search traffic

If the current site ranks, we map every old URL to its new page, set permanent redirects at launch and watch Search Console for errors afterwards. The scope states how many URLs are covered.

Team pages that match the Ahpra register: 7,158 practitioners with Victoria as principal place of practice

The Dental Board of Australia's data for the quarter to 30 June 2026 counts 29,351 registered dental practitioners, and 7,158 of them (24.4%) give Victoria as their principal place of practice; only New South Wales has more, at 8,459. Patients can look up any name on the public register, so each profile on your site should read the same way the register does.

Dental practitioners with Victoria as principal place of practice, 30 Jun 2026 (Dental Board of Australia)
Registrant groupVictoriaWhat your website should do with it
Dentists5,355One profile per dentist, profession named plainly
Oral health therapists995Their own profiles, never filed under "Our dentists"
Dental prosthetists353Denture pages that name the prosthetist and their title
Hygienists 221, therapists 90, hygienist and therapist 83394Each profile shows the division or divisions held, including dual registration
Specialty registrations489 (orthodontics 157, periodontics 74, oral and maxillofacial surgery 58, prosthodontics 56, paediatric 52, endodontics 51, oral medicine 17)Specialist titles only where registered
Conscious sedation endorsement5 (Australia: 90)Sedation pages name the provider and their qualification

An oral health therapist is not a dentist, and a website that blurs the two invites a complaint. The rules on titles, testimonials and offers are set out in the Ahpra wording table on our national page. The right-hand column is our advice, not a legal reading.

Specialist, referral and sleep-dentistry practices in Melbourne

Victoria holds 489 specialty registrations, and 464 Victorian dentists hold both general and specialist registration, so a profile for any of them has to show both correctly. A specialist site serves two readers: the dentist or GP deciding where to refer, and the patient holding the letter.

  • Referrer pages and forms

State your referral criteria and the documents you want, and give referrers a secure upload for x-rays and letters. Files go to secure storage, not an inbox, and an automatic acknowledgement confirms receipt. Logins for repeat referrers are portal work.

  • Specialist titles only where registered

Each profile shows the division and specialty exactly as the register lists them. Whether a general dentist who offers aligners may be called an orthodontist is answered on our national dental page.

  • Sedation wording

At 30 June 2026 only 5 practitioners with a Victorian principal place of practice held the Board's conscious sedation endorsement (NSW 44, Australia 90). A Melbourne "sleep dentistry" page should say who provides the sedation, what type it is, and that provider's relevant qualification or endorsement. Not legal advice; check current Board guidance.

Opening a practice in Melbourne’s new estates versus competing in the inner city

The ABS counts 105,030 more people in Greater Melbourne over 2024–25 (2.0%, to 5,435,590), the largest rise of any capital; Sydney added 75,230. Much of that went to fringe estates in the west, north and south-east, where young families are moving in, so a new practice there needs a children's page and a "now taking new patients" message from opening week.

  • A children’s and CDBS page from day one

Families in Mickleham–Yuroke or Fraser Rise–Plumpton will ask whether you see children and whether the Child Dental Benefits Schedule applies. Give them a page that answers in plain words; the wording to use is on our fees, funds and CDBS notes. We do not write eligibility rules into your copy.

  • Launch before the fit-out is finished

A "now taking new patients" page with the opening date, the funds you accept and a working booking link can go live weeks before your first appointment, with team profiles added as each person signs on.

  • Verify the Google Business Profile before you advertise

Verify it at the real street address, in the practice's own account, and keep the suburb named on the site identical to the profile's. We check they match at launch, and we never create profiles or reviews for you.

  • A page for every real practice

For example, a group across Box Hill, Glen Waverley and Doncaster gets three location pages. Suburbs where it has no chair get none.

Online forms, smile photos and medical histories under Victoria’s Health Records Act

Beyond the federal Privacy Act 1988 and APP 8, covered on our national page, Victorian practices answer to a second law: the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).

  • Who the Act covers

According to the Victorian Department of Health (page updated 29 April 2026), the Act applies regardless of the size of the business, and there is no small-business exemption, so a one-chair surgery is covered as fully as a group. Complaints go to the Health Complaints Commissioner. We checked against the version in force from 1 May 2026.

  • What it means for your forms

    • Collect only what each form needs; a booking request does not need a medical history.
    • Send smile photos and health answers to secure storage, not the practice inbox.
    • Put a short collection notice on every form.
    • Use invented patients on the staging site.
    • Keep advertising tags off form pages.
  • What you confirm with your own adviser

Retention periods, patient access requests and whether your forms meet the Health Privacy Principles are questions for your privacy adviser. The hosting region for stored files is agreed in writing before any build starts. Not legal advice.

Dental website examples from Melbourne practices: what the good ones do (checklist)

KC Web Design's list of 14 Australian dental website examples (published 28 March 2026) appears for this search and includes three Victorian practices, two of them in Melbourne. Rather than naming sites, here are the patterns, each one checkable on your own phone.

  • Book Now visible without scrolling

On a phone, the booking button sits on the first screen, not inside a menu.

  • Directions that suit the suburb

CBD, South Yarra and Richmond practices name the nearest tram stop or station and paid parking; Rockbank, Mickleham and Clyde North practices describe the car park.

  • Health funds and payment plans

Preferred-provider funds, on-the-spot claiming and any payment plan, linked from the main menu. Fee and fund wording: our national page.

  • After-hours emergency instructions

What to do about a knocked-out tooth or facial swelling at night, one tap from the homepage.

  • Team pages that match the register

Division and specialty exactly as registered, per the table above.

  • Fees or "from" prices, where you choose to publish

A "from" price for a check-up and clean answers a common phone question before the phone rings.

  • A gallery only with the Ahpra caveat

Before-and-after photos carry their own rules, so read our Ahpra notes before any photo goes up.

Turning this checklist into screens and tap paths is design work: UI/UX design in Melbourne.

Building a dental clinic website yourself versus hiring it out

A template is enough for a sole practitioner with one surgery, a booking link and a handful of treatments. Where it goes wrong is the defaults: a review widget that pulls in Google reviews describing clinical outcomes, or a contact form that emails a patient's medical history to a shared inbox.

  • What DIY dental sites usually miss

    • A booking link that opens the booking page itself, not the vendor's homepage
    • Health-fund and fee pages
    • Review widgets checked against Ahpra's rules
    • Forms that keep health details out of email
    • Dentist schema carrying hours, address and phone
  • Editing after launch

On WordPress, the practice manager edits hours, staff, fees and holiday closures from the admin screen, and we walk them through it on a video call at handover. New locations or booking routes are build work. More: WordPress developers in Melbourne.

Dental SEO and Google Ads in Melbourne after launch

Once the site is live, search work for a practice is mostly treatment-plus-suburb pages (implants in Glen Waverley, children's dentistry in Clyde North) and a tidy Google Business Profile with hours, photos and services that match the site. Ads can fill the diary for a new practice while organic pages build up, with the ad spend paid by you straight to Google. Nobody can promise a Clyde North practice a full book in its first month, and we won't. Details: SEO in Melbourne and Google Ads in Melbourne.

Working with an India-based team from a Melbourne surgery

The whole team sits in Lucknow, India; Codingclave has no office, phone, ABN or legal entity in Australia. Projects run over WhatsApp, email and video call, which suits a dentist who is chairside all day.

  • Proof without a Melbourne portfolio

There is no Melbourne dental work to show you. What you can check before paying is listed under our prices, and for your own practice the proof is a private staging site built on your content, a tap test on your phone, and speed and accessibility results measured before launch.

  • Who owns what

The .com.au is registered in the practice's name, which the registrar record will confirm. Hosting and CMS logins, the code and the analytics property pass to the practice at launch. The Google Business Profile stays in the practice's own account throughout.

  • Payment and support

How you pay, and in how many instalments, is set down in the signed scope before work begins, and our Upwork profile is public. The A$80–A$240 a month plan covers hosting, backups, monitoring and small edits; reply times and any bug-fix period are written into the terms.

  • What we do not promise, and what you get instead

No rankings, booking counts or new-patient numbers, and no refund or delivery guarantee; if an agency advertises an appointment count, ask how it was measured. Instead you get a fixed written scope, a launch date tied to your copy sign-off, and a staging link to test before launch. Is an India-based team safe to hire? See our national offshore section.

Our AUD bands for Melbourne dental practices

A single-surgery practice in Richmond with one booking link suits the WordPress band; a three-site group, for example across Box Hill, Glen Waverley and Doncaster, suits the custom band. The band follows the build, not the size of the practice, so a small coded site can come in under a large WordPress one. Whatever the band, the scope starts with Book Now on the first screen, health-fund and fee answers, after-hours emergency steps and directions for your suburb.

Ask Ashish directly

Ask on WhatsApp

How much does it cost to design a website in Melbourne?

It depends on the kind of business more than the city. For a dental practice, our WordPress band is A$900–A$4,300 and a coded build A$1,200–A$6,900, both excl. GST, with hosting and small edits at A$80–A$240 a month after launch. Costs for other kinds of Melbourne website, such as a shop or a trade business, are set out on our Melbourne city page.

How can I design a website for my dental clinic myself?

A builder template works for a one-surgery practice with a short treatment list. Before publishing, check five things DIY sites often get wrong: Book Now opens your actual booking page, health funds and fees have their own page, any review widget is checked against Ahpra's advertising rules, forms keep medical details out of email, and the site carries Dentist schema with your hours and address. A free written check from us covers the same list.

Where can I find dental web design services in Australia?

Search Google, then shortlist from the providers' own pages rather than the ads. The table near the top of this page records what four dental web specialists Melbourne practices see first published on 7 October 2026: base, price and timeline. For published prices from dental agencies across Australia, the line-by-line comparison is on our national dental websites page. Ask each one about GST, booking software and who owns the domain.

How quickly can a Melbourne dental practice get a new website live?

A WordPress site takes 1–2 weeks and a custom build 1–3 weeks, counted from the day you sign off copy and photos, so book your photographer early. For comparison, Practice Boost quotes 4–6 weeks from consultation to launch and Local Health Marketing advertises under two months. A new practice can launch a short "now taking new patients" site first.

Will my dental website be mobile-friendly and SEO-ready?

Yes. Every page is built and tested on phones first, page speed is measured before launch, the site carries Dentist schema for each address, and any old URLs that rank are redirected to their new pages. Each treatment gets its own page so it can be found by search. That gives the site a sound start in search, but nobody can guarantee rankings or bookings.

Do you provide ongoing maintenance and support for dental websites?

Yes. Hosting, backups, uptime monitoring and small edits cost A$80–A$240 a month excl. GST. On WordPress your practice manager can still change hours, staff profiles, fees and holiday closures from the admin screen, and we show them how at handover. Bigger changes, such as a new location, are quoted separately. Reply times and any bug-fix period are written into the support terms.

Does Victoria have extra privacy rules for dental website forms?

Yes. Alongside the federal Privacy Act, the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) governs how private-sector health providers in Victoria handle health information, and it applies whatever the size of the practice, with no small-business exemption. Complaints go to the Health Complaints Commissioner. On a website, that means collecting only what each form needs and keeping smile photos and medical histories out of email. Not legal advice; confirm with your adviser.

Is it safe for a Melbourne practice to hire a dental web design company in India?

It can be, if you keep control. With us, the .com.au is registered in the practice's name, you see every change on a staging link before launch, and calls happen in the evening after clinic, from about 5:30pm Melbourne time. Where patient files are stored is agreed in writing before the build, with Victoria's Health Records Act in mind. Read our public Google and Upwork reviews before you decide.
