Quick answer
How much does SEO cost in Hobart per month?
Hobart SEO prices printed on 7 October 2026 run from about $1,200 to $3,300 a month: Digital Nomads HQ from $1,197 (GST not stated), Sitecentre tiers from $1,699 to $2,699, Firewire $2,500 + GST ($2,750), and Prosperity Media $1,650–$3,300 including GST for the 10–20 hours it suggests at $150 an hour. The other nine providers we checked show no monthly Hobart SEO fee. The What's The Damage Hobart guide puts typical small-business spend at $1,500–$3,500. Ours starts at A$990 a month for one site and one service area, such as a Kingston plumber; more suburbs, new pages or national product work sit higher in our A$990–A$9,800 band, set by a written scope before you sign.
- A "+ GST" price is 10% more in cash; registered businesses usually claim it back
- Ask for the minimum term and notice period inside the quote
- Google bills ad clicks separately from any agency fee
- No one can guarantee map or organic positions, or leads
- Keep the Business Profile and Search Console in your own name

Hobart SEO agency prices: 13 providers, their terms and the GST maths (checked 7 Oct 2026)
On 7 October 2026 we searched google.com.au for "seo agency hobart" and "seo hobart" with personalisation off (pws=0), then opened each provider's own page rather than trusting the snippet. Rows note where we checked only a home or service page.
| Provider (base) | Published SEO price | Monthly cost to you | Minimum term | Hobart proof on page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Firewire Digital (Newcastle NSW, remote-first) | $2,500 a month + GST | $2,750 inc GST | 3-month minimum, then rolling monthly | Names Sandy Bay, Kingston and the eastern shore; case studies from outside Tasmania |
| Prosperity Media (Surry Hills NSW / South Yarra VIC) | $150/h + GST; 10–20 h suggested for a small business | $1,650–$3,300 inc GST | Not stated | Mainland case studies; says it mainly works with companies over $1 million revenue |
| Sitecentre (Currimundi Qld, per its schema) | $1,699 / $2,299 / $2,699 tiers | Unclear: no GST or per-month wording beside the figures | Says it doesn't lock in contracts | Headline says "#1 Local Hobart SEO Agency"; schema address is in Queensland |
| Digital Nomads HQ (Mooloolaba Qld) | From $1,197 p/m | GST not stated | Not stated | Templated city copy |
| Wakeford Digital (1 Liverpool St, Hobart) | No monthly SEO price; website builds from $4,000 / $6,000 / $8,000 | Not shown | "No lock-in contracts" | Named Tasmanian clients |
| 42 Digital (30/11 Morrison St, Hobart) | None on its home page; a discovery call comes first | Unknown | Not stated | Hobart address; held the first map spot for this search |
| Gloo Advertising (Level 11, 39 Murray St, Hobart) | None on its SEO page | Unknown | Not stated | Hobart address |
| Searcher SEO (Hobart) | None on its home page | Unknown | Not stated | Describes itself as a boutique SEO agency based in Hobart |
| StudioHawk (Prahran VIC / South Eveleigh NSW) | None; cost "depends on" industry, competition and current performance | Unknown | "No lock-in contracts" | No Tasmanian proof |
| Impressive Digital (Cremorne VIC) | None; mentions performance-based fees | Unknown | Not stated | None |
| Kia Ora Digital (Melbourne) | None | Unknown | Not stated | None |
| Aperitif Agency (address not shown) | None | Unknown | Not stated | One Salamanca mention |
| BG Tech (Strathfield NSW) | National market range only: $500–$5,000+ a month | Unknown | Not stated | Sydney copy |
| Benchmark: What's The Damage Hobart guide, Oct 2026 | $800–$1,500 single-area; $1,500–$3,500 typical; $3,000–$6,000 competitive | Aggregator estimate | n/a | n/a |
| Codingclave (Lucknow, remote) | A$990–A$9,800 a month | From A$990; no GST on our invoice (registered businesses: check reverse charge) | Month-to-month; setup and notice set in your written terms before you sign | No Tasmanian clients claimed |
GST, like for like. Not registered for GST? Then a "+ GST" price costs 1.1 times the printed figure, so Firewire's $2,500 is $2,750 a month. Registered businesses can usually claim that 10% back on the BAS, so compare ex-GST figures ($2,500 against our A$990) and treat the difference as cash flow. Our invoice carries no GST because we supply from overseas; ask your accountant whether reverse charge applies.
Google Ads is a second bill. Click spend goes straight to Google, which adds 10% GST; any management fee is separate. Site needs rebuilding first? See Hobart website prices.
Send us the SEO quote you already have and we'll run the same maths on it. WhatsApp to our +91 number uses your data, not international call rates.

Local SEO in Hobart: why the map three show Hobart addresses, and what we do on your profile
Google usually shows three businesses on a map above the first website. On 7 October 2026 the three for "seo agency hobart" were 42 Digital (5.0 from 29 reviews, listed as Hobart TAS), Xugar's SEO Agency Hobart listing (5.0 from 6) and SEO HOBART (3.0 from 2), each showing a Hobart address and reviews.
How Google fills the three spots
Google's local ranking help page names relevance (how well a profile matches the search), distance (from the searcher) and prominence (how well known the business is, drawing on links, review count and rating). It adds: "There's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking on Google."
Why Codingclave has no Hobart listing
Google's profile guidelines make a virtual office, or any rented address the business doesn't operate from, ineligible, and the profile name must be the real-world business name. A Hobart listing for a Lucknow team would break both rules. So all our local effort goes into your profile, the one your customers actually see.
What we work on inside your profile
With you as primary owner and us added as a manager:
- categories and services that match the work you actually do
- a service area for Clarence and Kingborough trades that drive to customers, such as a Rosny Park electrician covering Bellerive or a Kingston plumber covering Blackmans Bay
- photos, posts and review replies kept current
- citations with the same name, address and phone number everywhere
What no provider controls
Distance depends on where the searcher stands: a Glenorchy café can do everything right and still miss the three for someone in Sandy Bay. Google's guide to hiring an SEO says "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google". We guarantee no map position, organic position or lead.
Ask for the free Hobart search check: five searches in your trade, three fixes, sent back on WhatsApp.

Three kinds of Hobart search, and the SEO plan each one needs
A Hobart business is usually found by one of three audiences, and the month's work changes with each. The example searches are our illustrations, not autocomplete or volume data.
A contained local market, searched by suburb
The same ABS count finds 2,493 professional-services firms, 2,031 in transport and 1,808 in rental and real estate across the Hobart, Glenorchy, Clarence, Kingborough, Brighton, Sorell and Derwent Valley councils, with about 62% employing nobody. Where the owner also answers the phone, keep the month small: a current profile, a page per real service, a review request after every job. See tradies, clinics and real estate agencies.
Visitors planning from the mainland
Tourism Tasmania ties 50,800 jobs, 15.6% of filled jobs, to those visitors, many researching before the flight. The SEO work: pages for planning-stage questions (a quiet stay near Battery Point, breakfast in North Hobart, what's open in July), accommodation and restaurant structured data, profile hours and attributes kept right for the season. Sector detail: hotels, motels and stays and cafés, restaurants and takeaways.
Tasmanian producers selling interstate
A Huon Valley honey competes nationally, so Hobart keywords barely matter: the work is category and product pages, product structured data and clear interstate shipping copy. Store builds sit under e-commerce development; for regular reorders, see app development for Hobart businesses.
| Who's searching | Example search (illustration) | Where the click goes | What the SEO month focuses on | Hobart figure (sourced) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Locals needing a trade or clinic | "plumber kingston", "physio new town" | Map pack and service pages | Profile, reviews, service-area pages | Construction 3,616 and health care 1,940 businesses in the seven councils (ABS, June 2025) |
| Mainland visitors planning a trip | "dog friendly accommodation hobart", "salamanca market breakfast" | Organic listings, often searched days or weeks before arrival | Planning-stage pages, structured data, profile hours | 1.386m visitors, over $3.7bn (Tourism Tasmania) |
| Mainland buyers of Tasmanian products | "tasmanian whisky gift", "leatherwood honey buy online" | Product and category pages | Product SEO, shipping and category copy | Accommodation and food 1,194; retail 1,148 (ABS) |
Not sure which of the three describes you? Tell us who your customers are and we'll say which plan fits.

Suburb pages in Hobart: when Sandy Bay, Kingston or Sorell earns its own page
Several Hobart SEO pages list 15 to 20 suburbs, which is fine on one page. What Google's spam policies call doorway abuse is "Having multiple domain names or pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page". A suburb page has to tell a resident something your main page can't.
Three tests before a suburb page is written
- You work there, or have a base there, rather than a postcode you'd like to win.
- There's something specific to say: jobs done there, travel or call-out terms, local rules, photos.
- The searches differ for that area.
Fail one and the suburb belongs in a service-area paragraph on the main page.
The eastern shore: one page, not five
A builder working Bellerive, Howrah, Lindisfarne, Rosny Park and Rokeby rarely has five different things to say. One eastern shore page with jobs from each suburb beats five near-copies.
Kingborough, the northern suburbs and the Huon
Kingston and Blackmans Bay usually share a page for the same reason. New Town and Moonah earn separate pages only if, say, a physio runs a room in each with different hours. Huonville is the clearer case: travel time, call-out fees and the jobs done there genuinely change.
Unsure whether Kingston or the eastern shore deserves its own page? Send us your suburbs and we'll run them through the three tests.

Getting more Google reviews in Hobart within Google’s and the ACCC’s rules
Review count and rating feed Google's prominence factor, so how you ask for reviews matters as much as how many you collect.
What Google bans
Its Maps content policy prohibits reviews bought with payment, discounts or free goods and services, and businesses that "Discourage or prohibit negative reviews, or selectively solicit positive reviews". That second rule is review gating: asking only the customers you think went home happy.
What the ACCC expects
The ACCC's online reviews guidance tells businesses not to publish misleading reviews, warns that leaving out or editing negative reviews can mislead customers, and says any incentive must be offered whatever the review says (Google bans incentives on Maps outright). The Australian Consumer Law provisions behind this are section 18 (misleading or deceptive conduct) and section 29(1)(e) (false or misleading testimonials).
An after-job request inside both rules
One WhatsApp or SMS on the day each job finishes, to every customer, with your profile's short review link. No cherry-picking, no reward, no staff or family reviews. To send it automatically when a job is marked done, see automation.
Replying to a bad review
Reply calmly: what went wrong, what you changed, a number to call, with the customer's details left out. Your real reader is the next customer.
Want the after-job request set up for your profile? Ask on WhatsApp.

Your Business Profile, Search Console and GA4 stay in your name: what happens if you leave
Every review you've earned sits on one Business Profile, and Google allows several owners but only one primary owner.
| Account | Who should own it | What we're given | On exit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | You, as the one primary owner | Manager access | Manager removed; reviews and history stay with you |
| Search Console | You, as verified owner | Full user | User removed; the data remains |
| GA4 | You | Editor | Access removed |
| Website and the pages we write | You, on your hosting | Login or deploy access | Credentials rotated by you |
| Google Ads (if used) | You, billed by Google | Standard access | Access removed; spend history stays |
Removing our access takes minutes and needs nothing from us, though the notice period in your written terms still applies: drop us as profile manager, delete our Search Console user (owners can add and remove users) and revoke our GA4 and Ads access. The reports already live in your Search Console, and the pages we wrote stay on your site.

An SEO company in Hobart or a remote retainer? How to choose, and how to judge ‘best’
Firewire and Kia Ora both ask whether you need a Tasmanian provider and settle it in their own favour; the "best" listicle on page one gives no criteria. This test works whoever you hire.
When a Hobart studio suits your SEO better
A Hobart studio's own map presence and Tasmanian clients show it can win local searches, and some will set up your profile in person or bundle a build. Options on this search include Wakeford Digital, 42 Digital and Gloo Advertising; for a small specialist or single SEO consultant, there's Searcher SEO. Bigger build? See our Hobart web design page.
When our month-to-month retainer suits
You want the monthly SEO fee printed before you talk to anyone, a written task list each month, and no minimum term. It all runs over WhatsApp, email and video; nobody visits, and our day starts in your mid-afternoon.
Judging us without a Tasmanian case study
We have none, so test two things you can verify: the free search check, with three specific fixes before you pay anything, and the first monthly report, drawn from your own Search Console. Projects from other markets are on our work page; none is presented as Australian. If month one doesn't convince you, stopping takes only the notice in your written terms.
| Check | What a good answer looks like | Red flag |
|---|---|---|
| Published price | A monthly figure, GST stated either way | A price only after a strategy call |
| Minimum term and notice | Both written into the quote | A minimum that first appears in the contract |
| Who owns the profile and Search Console | You, as primary and verified owner | The agency sets up the profile in its own account |
| A named person doing the work | A lead you speak to each month | Only a brand name and a sales contact |
| Guarantee language | A plain statement that rankings can't be promised | "Guaranteed to boost rankings" or a promised #1 |
| Review evidence | A review count on a platform you can open, with replies to critics | Star badges on the agency's site that link nowhere |
Put the same six checks to us: a printed A$990–A$9,800 band; month-to-month, notice set in writing before you sign; you as primary and verified owner; founder Ashish Sharma leading the work; no promise of rankings or leads; ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), 200+ projects since 2017 and Top Rated on Upwork. One page-one result calls its optimisations "guaranteed to boost your rankings", against Google's own advice.

SEO services in Hobart: what A$990 a month covers and what raises the figure
One band, A$990–A$9,800 a month, with no tier prices inside it; your written scope sets the figure. The full monthly ledger is on our national SEO services page.
What raises the figure
- service areas or suburbs targeted
- new pages written each month
- product or SKU count for a store
- how crowded your trade is in Hobart results
- adding Google Ads management
For context, What's The Damage puts most Hobart small businesses at $1,500–$3,500 a month.
A month on Hobart time
While daylight saving runs we work 3:30pm–12:30am Hobart time, Monday to Saturday, which overlaps a 9-to-5 day by 1.5 hours. From 4 April 2027 that becomes 2:30pm–11:30pm, a 2.5-hour overlap. Calls fall late in your afternoon, changes happen after you knock off, and the update is waiting next morning.

| Technical | Crawling, indexing, speed and mobile faults that hold pages back | Yes, fixes on your existing site | Larger sites, migrations, store catalogues |
| Pages and content | Service, suburb and planning-stage pages that answer real questions | Existing pages improved | New pages each month |
| Authority (links and citations) | Consistent listings plus links from suppliers, trade associations, local sponsorships and Tasmanian directories | Citation and profile consistency | Ongoing link outreach |
| Measurement | Impressions, clicks and calls you can check yourself | Yes, a monthly report from your own Search Console | Call tracking, ecommerce reporting |

Is SEO still worth paying for in Hobart in 2026? The AI-search pitch, checked
StudioHawk, Aperitif and Kia Ora sell AI search as an extra. Google's AI features guidance says "There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode". On 7 October 2026 this search showed an AI Mode tab but no AI Overview.
Where SEO pays, and where it can wait
It pays on suburb searches where the map pack decides who gets the call, on mainland visitors comparing stays weeks before they land, and on producer product pages competing nationally. It can wait if your order book is full for months: claim your Business Profile, free according to Google, and come back when you have capacity.
The national AI detail is on our SEO services page, with more in digital marketing and SEO in Australia for 2026. SEO in other cities: Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
