Overview

The store is built in your own Shopify account and goes live 2–6 weeks after your products and photos reach us, on a Queensland evening once the doors are locked, so no trading hours are lost. Most Brisbane agencies name a price only after a discovery call. We're a remote team in Lucknow, India, working 2:30–11:30pm AEST all year.

Quick answer

How much does it cost to hire a Shopify developer in Brisbane?

Brisbane Shopify developers price in three ways. WP Creative's Brisbane page puts hourly rates at about $50–$150; BA Creative's growth retainers start at $1,250–$3,750 a month ex GST; Partner Directory cards for Brisbane firms show entry figures of $130 to $2,000, and Airtasker tasks are priced one by one. Codingclave quotes one fixed A$2,400–A$19,500 per job, no GST added, live in 2–6 weeks.

What Brisbane Shopify developers publish about price (checked 6–7 Oct 2026)

Most Brisbane Shopify firms quote only after a discovery call, because the theme, the apps and the volume of data to move all shift the price. Check two things on every figure below: whether it's ex GST or +GST, and whether it buys a build or a monthly retainer.

Figures as each provider displayed them on 6 Oct 2026 (WP Creative re-read on 7 Oct); GST basis as each provider states it.

Hourly billing suits open-ended tinkering; a fixed figure suits a store with a clear finish line. Either way, ask each developer what happens to the price when the scope changes. Our answer: the agreed figure holds, and anything you add later gets its own written price before work on it begins. Hourly against fixed is weighed up in more detail on our national Shopify page.

Send your store URL and the three things that annoy you most, and we reply with one figure. Message us on WhatsApp or email hello@codingclave.com. Messages to our +91 number cost you nothing beyond your data.

Brisbane store set-ups that need their own lines in the scope

These Brisbane situations change what a Shopify build involves, so each one gets its own line in a written quote instead of hiding inside 'store set-up'.

  • Shopify POS for a Brisbane shopfront: one stock count

A boutique on James St in Fortitude Valley or Teneriffe, Given Terrace in Paddington or Oxford St in Bulimba, a shop in West End, Newstead or Woolloongabba, or a tenancy in Indooroopilly, Chermside or Carindale usually wants the counter and the website selling from the same number. Shopify POS handles that with inventory held per location, so a jacket sold at the till drops off the site's count too. POS Pro is A$129 a month per location on top of your plan, and Shopify lists in-person card payments on Basic at 1.85%.

The scope lines we write for a shopfront:

    • Locations for the shop floor, back room and online stock.
    • A stock count after close on the night before go-live.
    • Staff logins for the counter.
    • Hardware: the EFTPOS terminal and card reader are named in your written quote, checked against your set-up.
  • Breweries, distilleries and wine sellers

Business Queensland says there's no specific licence for selling packaged liquor online; what counts is the licence you hold. An artisan producer may sell only what it makes, and commercial hotels, wine producers and wine merchants are among the others allowed.

On the Shopify side our set-up work is three pieces: an age gate before the range opens, a date-of-birth confirmation through an age-verification app (on the cart page, or inside checkout on Plus), and an ID-on-delivery instruction passed to the courier with each order. We don't give legal advice: you confirm your licence conditions with the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR), and we build to what they tell you.

  • Shipping profiles for regional Queensland

In Shopify, delivery becomes zone and rate configuration: Brisbane metro, the rest of South East Queensland, regional Queensland and interstate, each with weight or price bands and a free-shipping threshold tested against your heaviest product. How those options should read to Queensland buyers is on our Brisbane ecommerce websites page.

  • Shopify migration from WooCommerce or Neto

A move brings across products, customers and, where the scope says so, order history, then every old URL gets a redirect. You agree an edit freeze for the final two days so nothing changes mid-import. The full step-by-step is on our national page under moving to Shopify from Neto or WooCommerce.

  • Trade pricing for Brisbane wholesalers

Selling to cafés, gift shops or stockists as well as the public? Shopify's AU pricing page (checked 7 Oct 2026) lists Shopify B2B on every plan, with up to 3 catalogues below Plus and unlimited catalogues on Plus. A catalogue holds one trade price list, so a wholesaler with three tiers fits on Basic. The scope names each price list, minimum order and payment term, and every trade rule gets its own test order.

  • Xero, MYOB or Cin7 stock and invoice sync

Most Brisbane retailers already keep their books in Xero or MYOB, and some run stock through Cin7. The link usually goes through that system's own Shopify connector, so the scope says which orders, taxes, payouts and stock levels flow each way, and we test a refund as well as a sale. Deeper accounting work sits under Xero and MYOB integration.

Pick the message that fits and fill in the blanks: shopfront and stock sync, brewery, distillery or wine store, moving from WooCommerce or Neto or fixing or speeding up a live store. Prefer email? Send the same details to hello@codingclave.com. Running a café that needs table or takeaway ordering rather than retail stock? That's our restaurant POS software.

What a Paddington boutique with one counter pays Shopify in year one

Card fees are usually the biggest Shopify cost for a shop that also trades online, and no Brisbane developer page adds them up. Here is one worked example. The assumptions: one shop on Given Terrace, A$150,000 of online sales at an average order of A$100 (1,500 orders), A$100,000 of card sales at the counter, Basic billed yearly, POS Pro on one location, every payment through Shopify Payments on a standard domestic card.

Worked example using Shopify's AU list prices and Basic-plan card rates as checked 6–7 Oct 2026. Your own turnover, card mix and apps will change every line.
LineHow it's worked outYear one
Basic planA$42 a month × 12, billed yearlyA$504
POS Pro, one locationA$129 a month × 12A$1,548
Online card fees1.7% of A$150,000 plus 30c on 1,500 ordersA$3,000
Counter card fees1.85% of A$100,000A$1,850
Paid appsEach maker's listed price, written into the scopeVaries
Shopify subtotalPlan, POS and card feesA$6,902
Store build, paid onceCodingclave's fixed figureInside A$2,400–A$19,500
Optional supportA$80–A$240 a monthA$960–A$2,880

Two levers matter most here. Amex and international cards cost more online (2.9% + 30c and 3.5% + 30c), so a customer base heavy on either lifts the fee line. And taking orders through a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments adds 2% per order on Basic. Grow's lower online rate (from 1.55%) pays off only at far higher online sales.

Launch night on Brisbane time: your store goes live after you close

Most stores go live 2–6 weeks after the content lands with us: products, photos, copy and policies.

Queensland stays on AEST all year, so our working day of 2:30pm–11:30pm AEST, and the 2.5 hours from 2:30 to 5pm that overlap your nine-to-five, never move between summer and winter. Until 4 Apr 2027 that's an hour more overlap than Sydney or Melbourne get. The full working week is on our Brisbane page; the table below covers only the launch.

A typical go-live evening. Your shop's closing time sets the start.
When (AEST)What happensWhat you do

After the shop shutsFinal import of products, customers and orders; redirect file loadedNothing
EveningTest orders on each payment method you've switched on, then the go-live step: the DNS switch for a store moving from another platform, or publishing the new theme for a rebuild of an existing Shopify storeKeep phone notifications on in case we need a yes
Next morningA written report on the test orders and redirects, waiting in your inboxRead the report and place one real order

Everything finishes inside our 2:30–11:30pm AEST day, so a shop that trades late goes live on an early-close evening. Moving from another platform? Keep the old store's subscription running until the agreed check-in, as a fallback while the redirects settle. Aiming to be live for Black Friday on 27 Nov 2026? Work back from the dates on our Brisbane Black Friday timeline. To pencil in a launch evening, send your target date on WhatsApp or email hello@codingclave.com.

Brisbane agency, Airtasker tasker, staff developer or a remote team: how they compare on a Shopify job

Ashish Sharma founded Codingclave in 2017 and runs every Brisbane job by WhatsApp, email and video. Our working day runs into your evening, which is when a store should go live. Here's how the four routes stack up.

An agency in Spring Hill or on Queen St makes sense if you want your developer at the table for strategy days, or need a listed Shopify Partner for a Plus programme.

Choose Codingclave if you want one written price before you commit, a go-live after trading hours, and a store that stays in your account, with our access removed the day you sign off. If you'd rather judge us on record than promises: ★ 4.9 on Google (76 reviews), Top Rated on Upwork, 200+ projects since 2017 and founder-led delivery. Who are the best Shopify developers in Brisbane? Six checks instead of a ranking

Nobody publishes an independent ranking of Brisbane Shopify developers, and a 'best of' list can't know your range, budget or launch date. These six checks sort a shortlist:

6 questions to ask

  1. Live store URLs you can test-order on. Ask for two stores they built, place a small order, then cancel or return it.
  2. A Partner Directory listing. Shopify's directory is public. Codingclave isn't a listed Shopify Partner. That matters mainly for Plus programmes that require one, so if yours does, a listed Partner is the right call.
  3. Google reviews on the business profile itself. Read them on Google, not as quotes on the firm's own site, and see how the owner answers complaints.
  4. ABN Lookup for any local firm. It's free and confirms the registered business name. For an overseas firm, ask for the registered company and country; ours is Codingclave Development LLP, registered in India.
  5. A written scope that lists every app with its monthly fee. Apps bill for as long as the store trades.
  6. The store created in your own account. Your business opens and pays for the Shopify account, and the developer works as a collaborator you can remove.

Run the same checks on us. Our Google reviews are on the reviews page and past projects on our work page. Ask on WhatsApp for live stores we've built, and test-buy from them before you decide.

Is Shopify still worth it for a Brisbane business in 2026?

For a Brisbane business selling physical products, usually yes; how much Queenslanders now spend online is laid out under Queensland online demand. Does Shopify work in Australia? It bills in Australian dollars, runs Shopify Payments here and publishes its fees. On Shopify's AU pricing page on 6 Oct 2026, the Basic plan showed:

  • 1.7% + 30c for a standard card online, more for Amex and international cards
  • 2% on each order taken through a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments

Basic itself was A$42 a month billed yearly or A$56 billed monthly (both re-checked on 7 Oct), and new stores could open with a 3-day free trial, then $1 a month for 3 months. Higher plans, GST on the subscription, and Afterpay or Zip costs are on our national Shopify page.

Shopify also changes underneath a live store. Its 26 August 2026 move to new Thank you and Order status pages switched off old tracking scripts on stores below Plus, the kind of break monthly support is there to catch; the checkout upgrade notes list what to check.

When Shopify doesn’t suit

Shopify is built around a product catalogue and a checkout. If your site is mostly articles, guides and service pages with a handful of products, WordPress usually fits better; see WordPress developers in Brisbane. If customers mainly book appointments, log in to a portal or manage accounts, that's custom software, covered under custom software development in Brisbane. For Shopify set against WooCommerce and custom stores, use the platform guide for Brisbane stores.

Who owns the store, how you pay, and what happens after launch

  • Ownership

The store sits in your Shopify account, opened in your business's name and billed to your card. We work as a collaborator, and once launch is signed off you remove our access from the admin. The theme files and a list of every installed app are handed over with the launch report. Who owns any custom code written for the job is a named clause in your quote, agreed before you sign.

  • Paying safely

Your written quote sets out the payment stages and every outside cost, so nothing turns up later. Shopify, the app makers and any theme seller bill you directly, which means no subscription money passes through us and nothing lapses if we part ways.

  • After launch

Monthly support is optional at A$80–A$240 a month, covering theme and app updates, small changes and checks after Shopify releases; ask about support on WhatsApp. For growth, product and collection work sits with our SEO services and Shopping campaigns with Google Ads management. Nobody can guarantee rankings or sales, and we won't pretend to. When the theme needs new layouts rather than fixes, that's UI/UX design in Brisbane. Trading from the Gold Coast instead? Same clock, separate page: Shopify developers on the Gold Coast.

Each build gets one figure, fixed once the scope is agreed. A theme set-up with a tidy product list sits near the bottom of the band; POS locations, a liquor age gate, trade price lists or a move with order history push it up.

Ask Ashish directly

Ask on WhatsApp

How much do Shopify developers charge in Brisbane?

It depends on whether you pay by the hour, the month or the job. WP Creative's Brisbane page puts Shopify developers in Brisbane at about $50–$150 an hour. BA Creative's monthly programmes start at $1,250 to $3,750 a month ex GST. An indicative aggregator guide puts a move to Shopify at $3,000–$15,000, and most firms in the Partner Directory show no figure until you call. We price the whole job instead: one fixed number between A$2,400 and A$19,500, agreed in writing. WhatsApp your store URL to +91 92771 84741 for yours.

How long does it take to build a Shopify store in Brisbane?

Plan on 2–6 weeks from the day your products, photos and copy are ready, not from the day you sign. A store on an existing theme with a clean spreadsheet sits at the short end; custom sections, Shopify POS locations or a migration with years of order history push it towards six weeks. Content is usually the slowest part, so start on product photos early. The launch itself takes one evening after your shop closes, with a written report the next morning.

Can I hire someone in Brisbane to build my Shopify store?

Yes, through three routes: a Brisbane agency, a tasker from a marketplace such as Airtasker, or a remote team. The work happens inside your Shopify admin, so the builder doesn't have to sit in Brisbane, but you should know where they are. Codingclave is a remote team based in India, with no Brisbane office, and every job runs over WhatsApp, email and video. If planning face to face matters most, an agency across town suits you. If one written price and an after-hours launch matter more, WhatsApp +91 92771 84741 with your store URL.

Who are the best Shopify developers in Brisbane?

There's no independent ranking, and 'best' depends on your store and budget. Use the six checks on this page instead: test-order on live stores they built, look for a Partner Directory listing, read Google reviews on the business profile, run ABN Lookup on local firms, ask for a written app list with fees, and keep the store in your own account.

Can my Brisbane shop and Shopify website share the same stock?

Yes. Shopify POS sells from the same inventory as your online store, tracked by location, so a sale at the counter in Paddington or Bulimba updates what the website shows. POS Pro costs A$129 a month for each location, and Shopify listed in-person card payments on the Basic plan at 1.85%. We set up the locations and run a stock count before go-live, and the card terminal is named in your quote once we've checked it against your set-up. WhatsApp +91 92771 84741 with your locations and current POS.

Can a Shopify store sell alcohol online in Queensland?

Yes, if your existing licence allows it. Business Queensland says there's no separate licence for online liquor sales; commercial hotels, limited commercial special facilities, artisan producers selling their own product, and wine producers and merchants may sell online. Sellers based interstate can supply Queensland buyers when storage, distribution and payment happen outside the state. Our part is the shop set-up: an age gate, a date-of-birth confirmation through an age-verification app (cart page, or checkout on Plus) and an ID-on-delivery note for the courier. Your licence conditions are a question for OLGR.

Is there a Queensland grant for a Shopify store in 2026?

Not right now. On Business Queensland's grants schedule, last updated 24 Sep 2026, nothing open or coming up pays for building a website, and the Business Basics round has already notified its recipients. So plan your launch on its own timeline rather than waiting for funding. For a second opinion on the plan itself, Business Queensland offers a free Mentoring for Growth session with experienced business mentors. Our Brisbane ecommerce websites page has more on Business Basics.

Do you build Shopify Plus stores for Brisbane brands?

Sometimes. Shopify Plus starts from A$3,700 a month on yearly billing, and we take Plus work when it fits our A$2,400–A$19,500 band, such as theme changes, app set-up or a contained migration onto an existing Plus store. A full Plus programme with ERP links, several storefronts or wholesale portals often costs more than that. If your job falls outside the band, we tell you in writing before any work starts, so you can take the scope to a Plus specialist.
