The platform sets the starting price: WordPress from ₹15,000, custom-coded (Next.js or React) from ₹25,000, and online stores on Shopify, WooCommerce or custom code from ₹50,000, with the full E-Commerce package above at ₹75,000. Your quote names the platform. Which kind of website do you need?
A clinic near Shaheed Path wants 8 pages, an appointment request form and a blog. That fits Professional at ₹40,000. You would pay:
- ₹16,000 (40%) at the start
- ₹16,000 (40%) at the mid-project milestone agreed in advance
- ₹8,000 (20%) at launch
Comparing with a package under ₹10,000?
Packages under ₹10,000 that bundle a domain, hosting and SSL for the first year are advertised in Lucknow (we saw one on 16 October 2026). For a simple page that can be enough. Before you pay, ask:
- Is the design a template that other businesses are already using, or made for you?
- Whose name are the domain and hosting registered in, will you get the logins, and what do they cost from year two?
- Is there an admin panel, or do you pay the developer for every text change?
- If you leave, do you get the files and the code?
Domain, hosting, paid themes or plugins and a Shopify plan are paid to third parties, usually every month or every year. Ask any developer, us included, to list them in the quote with who you pay and how often, so the package price is not the only number you see. What Every Build Includes
The same terms apply to every package and every custom quote.
A fixed price once the scope is agreed
The quote lists the pages, features and platform. Once you accept it, that price does not move. If you want something extra later, it is quoted separately before any work on it starts.
You pay in three parts: 40/40/20
40% when we start, 40% at a mid-project milestone agreed in advance, and the last 20% at launch. You never pay the full amount before you have seen the site working.
The code is yours on final payment
When the final 20% is paid, the source code and IP belong to you, so another developer can take over the site whenever you like.
Free bug fixes for 6 months after launch
If something we built stops working or does not work as agreed, we fix it free for six months from launch. New features are quoted separately.
Which Kind of Website Do You Need?
Two answers usually decide it: do you want to edit the site yourself, and will customers pay online?
WordPress
from ₹15,000- Good at
- You can change text, photos and blog posts yourself. Most hosting in India supports it, and plenty of local people know it if you ever switch developer.
- Watch out for
- Themes and plugins need regular updates, and a site loaded with plugins gets slow on phones.
- Usually fits
- Coaching institutes, consultants, clinics and builders whose site is mostly information plus an enquiry form.
Custom-coded (Next.js or React)
from ₹25,000- Good at
- Fast pages, no plugins to keep patching, and the same code can grow into a portal, login area or app backend.
- Watch out for
- Editing content needs a CMS connected to it, so say early if you want to update pages yourself.
- Usually fits
- Startups that need a landing page now and a product later, and businesses with custom forms, calculators or dashboards.
Shopify
stores from ₹50,000- Good at
- Hosting, checkout and security are run by Shopify, so a shop can start selling online quickly.
- Watch out for
- You pay Shopify a monthly plan (from ₹1,499 a month on yearly billing), plus 2% of each sale on the Basic plan when customers pay through a gateway such as Razorpay, because Shopify Payments is not available in India. - Boutiques and brands selling ready products across India, such as chikan wear or attar, that want a simple checkout.
WooCommerce
stores from ₹50,000- Good at
- A store inside WordPress, with no store platform subscription, and your products sit next to your blog and pages.
- Watch out for
- You look after hosting, backups and updates yourself (or pay someone to), and a big catalogue needs decent hosting.
- Usually fits
- Businesses already on WordPress, and wholesalers or retailers who want full control over the store and its data.

On the ground in Lucknow
Checked
Lucknow is not one market. A chikan seller in Chowk, a wholesaler in Yahiyaganj, a builder on Sultanpur Road and a clinic near Shaheed Path need different websites, and some of the rules they work under are specific to Uttar Pradesh. This is what usually changes the build here.

Things that change what gets built here
Chikankari and zardozi are Lucknow’s ODOP crafts. Uttar Pradesh’s One District One Product scheme lists chikankari and zari-zardozi for Lucknow, and Lucknow chikan has held a GI tag since 2008. If you sell them, say so in plain words on the home page, show close-ups shot in daylight, and keep pages light for buyers on slow phones. A catalogue with WhatsApp ordering is often enough to start; a full cart with a payment gateway pays off once retail orders come in every day.
UP RERA is strict about property advertising. UP RERA’s directions require the project’s registration number and the UP RERA portal to be shown clearly in advertisements, online ones included, and since July 2024 promoters must also publish each project’s QR code. On a builder site, put the number, the portal reference and the QR code in each project’s header rather than a footer line, and give each registered project its own page. The legal wording should come from your RERA consultant.
Government and institutional sites follow GIGW. GIGW 3.0 is the current standard for Indian government websites, and STQC issues the Certified Quality Website (CQW) mark for sites that meet it. If you are a department, or one of the more than 750 colleges affiliated to AKTU (which is headquartered in Lucknow), ask any developer you shortlist, us included, how they will handle accessibility and Hindi content before you sign.
Wholesale buyers want invoices more than design. Under GST, goods moved in a consignment worth more than ₹50,000 generally need an e-way bill, so wholesalers in Yahiyaganj and the industrial areas tend to need price lists, GST invoices and dispatch details on the site before they need a new look.
Healthcare is a real segment here. Medanta and Apollomedics anchor a hospital belt along Shaheed Path and Kanpur Road. Clinics near them usually want appointment requests, doctor profiles and Hindi text for patients travelling in from Barabanki, Sitapur and Rae Bareli.
Startups need a credible page fast. If you are applying to an incubator or a UP startup scheme, a one-page site with a waitlist form and a short demo video is usually enough while you wait, and the rest of the budget is better spent on the product. Check your incubator’s document list before paying anyone for a site.
How we work with Lucknow clients

When someone else is the better pick: if you want one shop to also do signage, printing, CCTV and office Wi-Fi, a local IT shop can bundle all of it, and we do not. One note on timing: approvals in Lucknow offices slow down in Holi week, the Diwali fortnight and the March exam season. For a festival sale, start about six weeks ahead, not two.

A small, founder-led studio suits a business website or online store where you want to talk to the person responsible for it. A freelancer can be fine for a one-page site. Whoever you pick, ask for a fixed price against a written scope, a payment schedule tied to milestones, and ownership of the code once you have paid.
