On the ground in Delhi

Checked

We have built websites from Lucknow since 2017. The sections above cover prices and timelines. These are my notes on who buys in Delhi, what they ask for, and where a local agency is honestly the better call.

Who is buying, and from where

Delhi is 16.8 million people across 11 districts and a reunified municipal corporation with 250 wards in 12 zones. What a buyer wants depends on the zone.

Where they sit What they usually ask for
Connaught Place, Barakhamba Road (corporates, foreign subsidiaries) Corporate site, careers and compliance pages
Nehru Place (hardware dealers, IT resellers) Product catalogue, B2B price lists
Okhla Phase I to III (garment and leather exporters, pharma, printing) Export catalogue, buyer login, factory profile
Gandhi Nagar, Tank Road in Karol Bagh (wholesale garments) Catalogue with WhatsApp ordering, no public prices
Khari Baoli, Bhagirath Palace, Nai Sarak, Chawri Bazar (spices, electrical, stationery, wedding cards) Dealer enquiry forms, Hindi copy
Lajpat Nagar and the South Delhi hospital belt Multilingual patient pages, appointment forms
Mukherjee Nagar, DU campuses (coaching, colleges) Admission pages, test series, result-day hosting

Invest India counts over 10.6 lakh MSMEs registered in Delhi on the Udyam and UAP portals, about 2.77 lakh of them women-owned. Most of the ones who call us have no site worth the name.

Things about Delhi that change what we build

It is a services city. Services are around 84 percent of Delhi's output, industry 14 percent, and GSDP crossed 11 lakh crore in 2023-24. So the typical Delhi enquiry is a consultancy, clinic, school or trader that needs leads, and we spend the budget on the enquiry flow, not animations.

Rent sets the bar. Connaught Place was ranked the ninth most expensive office location in the world in 2018, at roughly 153 dollars per square foot a year. A firm paying that rent expects the website to look like the office, so I do not pitch a 25,000 rupee site to a CP address; I pitch the design tier and explain why.

Nehru Place buyers know software. The DDA finished Nehru Place in 1972 as a district centre, and it spent 2009 to 2014 on the USTR's notorious markets list for counterfeit software. Dealers there ask harder questions than anyone in India about licences, hosting ownership and source code. We hand over the repository, domain and hosting account in the client's name, with GST invoices.

Exporters need audit-ready pages. Okhla's industrial estate dates to 1958 and is full of garment and leather exporters alongside pharma and printing units. Foreign buyers check the website before a factory visit, so it needs certifications, capacity and a real address.

Language. Hindi and English are Delhi's official languages, Punjabi and Urdu additional ones. Delhi is the one city where I build English-first by default, with a Hindi toggle for clinics, coaching and the Chandni Chowk trade.

People browse on the Metro. Delhi Metro carries about 64.6 lakh riders a day in 2025, so your site gets opened underground on patchy data. "Two minutes from Lajpat Nagar metro, Gate 2" on the contact page beats any hero image.

How we work with Delhi clients

Almost every Delhi project runs on WhatsApp and a shared staging link. For tenders, hospital boards and final sign-offs we come to Delhi. For a two-week business site, nobody needs us in the room.

Where a Delhi vendor beats us: if you want one shop in Nehru Place to sell you the laptops, set up the Wi-Fi and knock out a site on the same bill, go there. If your brand needs weekly in-person creative sessions, shoots and ad campaigns, an Okhla or Gurugram agency with a studio is the right fit.

We earn the fee on logins, payments, bilingual content, or a server that must survive CUET result week or a Diwali sale. Delhi offices stop for Diwali and the wedding season, so if you sell wedding cards in Chawri Bazar, your site should be live by September, not November.

Questions we get from Delhi buyers

I wholesale garments from Gandhi Nagar. My buyers already order on WhatsApp. What would a website add?
Two things, and neither is a shopping cart. First, a catalogue that a retailer in Patna or Guwahati can open on a phone at 11 pm, with article numbers, size sets and minimum quantities, so your WhatsApp replies become a link instead of forty photos. Second, a page that proves you exist when a new buyer searches your firm name before paying an advance. Gandhi Nagar is Asia's biggest readymade garment market, so you are competing with hundreds of near-identical shops for that first search. I keep prices behind a login or off the site entirely, because most Gandhi Nagar traders do not want rates public. Budget sits at the low end of our business website range.
Our hospital in South Delhi gets patients from Afghanistan, Iraq and East Africa. What should the website actually have?
Start with language, not design. Apollo in Delhi runs a Dari website, keeps translators on staff and has a separate payment desk for the Afghan patients who stay around Lajpat Nagar. That is the right instinct. I build the doctor profiles, treatment pages and cost-estimate form so each can carry an English, Hindi, Dari or Arabic version without a separate site. Then a WhatsApp number that is actually answered, a page explaining medical visa letters, and nearby guesthouse information. International patients read reviews before anything else, so I pull Google reviews onto the page. Do not put indicative prices in INR only; add USD. Payment integration can wait until the enquiry flow works.
We run a coaching institute near Mukherjee Nagar and need a site live before CUET results. How quickly, and what matters most?
A one-page site with batch dates, fees and a WhatsApp enquiry button can go live in a week. The full site with faculty pages, a free test series and a results wall takes two to three. What matters more than design is that it does not fall over on result day: Delhi University alone has about 132,000 regular students across 91 colleges and has admitted on CUET scores since 2022, so every coaching site in the city gets its traffic in the same fortnight. I host on a plan that can absorb that, and I write the admission FAQ in Hindi and English because coaching aspirants search in Hindi as often as in English.
