Digital marketing cost in India is ₹15,000 to ₹1,50,000 a month for most businesses in 2026, with ad spend paid separately. One channel (local SEO or one social platform) starts near ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 a month from a small agency. A full retainer covering SEO, Google Ads, Meta ads, social media, content and email runs ₹75,000 to ₹2,25,000. Below: the monthly rate per channel, what each price includes, how agencies bill, and what three Indian agencies publish on their 2026 price pages. I run Codingclave, a Lucknow agency founded in 2017, so these are numbers we quote against weekly.

Digital marketing cost in India: the short answer by business size

Business size Monthly fees (excluding ad spend) What it usually covers
Solo founder or startup ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 One channel: local SEO, or Instagram and Facebook
Small business (revenue under ₹50 lakh) ₹20,000 to ₹45,000 Google Business Profile, local Google Ads, one or two social platforms
Medium business (₹50 lakh to ₹5 crore) ₹75,000 to ₹2,25,000 SEO, Google Ads, Meta ads, social, content, email
Large business (₹5 crore and above) ₹2,75,000 to ₹12,50,000 Everything above plus video, influencer and PR

Two things make the range this wide. First, the same deliverable costs 5 to 10 times more at a large Mumbai or Gurugram agency than from a Lucknow freelancer. Second, ad spend is often quoted inside the headline number by one agency and left out by the next, so always ask for fees and media budget as separate lines.

Digital marketing cost by channel: one table

These are management fees in 2026. Ad budgets for Google and Meta are extra and go to the platform from your own account.

Channel Freelancer Small agency Mid-size agency What a fair plan includes
SEO ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 Keyword research, on-page fixes, 2 to 6 articles, links, Google Business Profile, monthly report
Google Ads management ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 ₹30,000 to ₹1,00,000 or 10 to 20% of spend Keyword and negative lists, ad copy tests, conversion tracking, bid strategy, landing page notes
Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram) ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 ₹30,000 to ₹80,000 Audience and creative testing, pixel and Conversions API setup, retargeting, weekly creative refresh
Social media management ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 ₹25,000 to ₹75,000 12 to 20 posts a month, stories or reels, community replies, calendar, monthly report
Content marketing ₹2,000 to ₹8,000 ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 2 to 8 researched articles, design, on-page SEO, distribution
Email marketing ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 ₹15,000 to ₹40,000 Platform setup, 2 to 4 campaigns, automations, list hygiene
WhatsApp marketing ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 plus per message ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 plus per message ₹15,000 to ₹40,000 plus per message Template approval, broadcast setup, chatbot flows, opt-in management

Freelancer rates are 50 to 70 percent below agency rates for the same channel. The trade-off is continuity: when a freelancer gets sick or overbooked, your marketing stops.

Digital marketing pricing in India: what three agencies publish in 2026

Here is what three Indian agencies state on their own price pages as of October 2026, linked so you can check.

  • upGrowth (page updated 17 September 2026) lists SEO at ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 a month, PPC management at ₹20,000 to ₹1,00,000 or 10 to 20 percent of spend, social media at ₹15,000 to ₹30,000, content at ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 and email at ₹3,000 to ₹15,000. They state a ₹25,000 a month minimum for consistent results.
  • Noir and Blanco (published 14 July 2026) sells four bundles: basic ₹15,000 to ₹40,000, growth ₹40,000 to ₹1,00,000, advanced ₹1,00,000 to ₹2,50,000 and enterprise ₹2,50,000 to ₹5,00,000 and above, each mixing SEO, paid ads, social, content and email.
  • upGrowth's Google Ads pricing page (updated 16 September 2026) puts fixed retainers at ₹20,000 to ₹3,00,000 a month, hybrid deals at a ₹30,000 to ₹75,000 base plus 5 to 8 percent of spend, and says most advertisers outside finance and insurance pay ₹25 to ₹60 a click.

My table above starts lower than these because it includes freelancers and Tier-2 city agencies, which the Delhi and Mumbai price pages leave out. For the same scope, published guides put Delhi NCR 20 to 35 percent above the rest of India.

SEO cost in India

SEO cost in India is ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month for a basic plan, ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 for the standard plan most growing businesses land on, and ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 for competitive verticals like finance, real estate and SaaS.

Activity Basic plan Standard plan Premium plan
Keywords tracked 10 to 20 30 to 50 100 and above
Pages optimised 5 to 10 15 to 25 50 and above
Articles a month 2 4 to 6 8 to 12
Links a month 5 to 10 15 to 30 30 to 50
Technical audit Quarterly Monthly Weekly monitoring
Google Business Profile Setup Ongoing posts and reviews Multi-location
Reporting Monthly PDF Monthly report plus call Weekly plus strategy
Typical cost ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000

Expect no ranking movement in months one to three, wins on low-competition terms by month six, real organic traffic by month twelve. Anyone guaranteeing page one is either lying or using tactics that will get the site penalised. For a local business, Google Business Profile optimisation is the cheapest SEO work with the fastest payback, and our SEO services page and the SEO cost and ROI guide go deeper on what each tier should deliver.

Pay per click advertising rates in India

Pay per click advertising rates in India split into what you pay Google for clicks and what you pay the agency to manage the account. Both are below.

Business type Monthly ad spend Management fee Total a month
Local service business ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 ₹15,000 to ₹40,000
E-commerce store ₹30,000 to ₹1,00,000 ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 ₹40,000 to ₹1,25,000
B2B company ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 ₹28,000 to ₹70,000
SaaS or tech ₹50,000 to ₹3,00,000 ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 ₹65,000 to ₹3,50,000
Real estate ₹30,000 to ₹2,00,000 ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 ₹40,000 to ₹2,30,000

Cost per click by industry in 2026: e-commerce ₹5 to ₹30, travel ₹10 to ₹50, education and coaching ₹15 to ₹50, healthcare ₹20 to ₹80, IT services ₹25 to ₹90, real estate ₹30 to ₹100, financial services ₹40 to ₹150, legal ₹50 to ₹200. Insurance and lending keywords can go past ₹500 a click. Work the maths before you launch: at ₹80 a click and a 3 percent conversion rate, each lead costs about ₹2,670 before any optimisation.

Good management includes keyword and negative keyword lists, ad copy A/B tests, conversion tracking, bid strategy, remarketing audiences and a monthly report that shows cost per lead, not just clicks. The Google Ads management cost guide covers how to audit an existing account before you switch agencies.

Meta ads cost in India

Meta ads management in India costs ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 a month at a small agency and ₹30,000 to ₹80,000 at a mid-size one, on top of the ad budget. Cost per thousand impressions runs ₹60 to ₹250 depending on audience, and a decent lead campaign for a local business lands leads at ₹80 to ₹400 each. Creative is the cost most owners forget: plan ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 a month for new images and short videos, because Meta campaigns fatigue in two to three weeks. The Meta ads management guide explains the pixel and Conversions API setup you should insist on, and click to WhatsApp ads are the format we see convert best for Indian SMBs right now.

Social media marketing cost in India

Social media marketing cost in India depends on how many platforms you run and whether you want organic posting, paid ads or both.

Service Instagram Facebook LinkedIn YouTube
Account management a month ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 ₹8,000 to ₹30,000 ₹15,000 to ₹50,000
Content per piece ₹500 to ₹2,000 a post ₹500 to ₹2,000 a post ₹1,000 to ₹3,000 a post ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 a video
Paid ads management a month ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 ₹8,000 to ₹25,000
Influencer campaigns ₹10,000 to ₹5,00,000 and above Rarely used Rarely used ₹20,000 to ₹10,00,000 and above

Budget by size, organic plus paid: solo founders ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month on Instagram plus one platform; small businesses ₹15,000 to ₹40,000 on Instagram, Facebook and Google; medium businesses ₹40,000 to ₹1,50,000 across every relevant platform; large brands ₹1,50,000 and above. Months one and two build presence, months three to six bring engagement and the first leads, and a steady lead flow usually appears between months six and twelve. Treat social as brand building and retargeting fuel rather than a direct response channel, and measure it that way.

Content marketing cost in India

Content marketing cost in India is ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 a month at a small agency and ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 at a mid-size agency. Per piece rates in 2026:

Content type Freelancer Agency
Blog post, 1,000 words ₹500 to ₹3,000 ₹2,000 to ₹8,000
Long-form article, 2,000 words and above ₹1,500 to ₹8,000 ₹5,000 to ₹15,000
Case study ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 ₹8,000 to ₹25,000
Infographic ₹2,000 to ₹8,000 ₹5,000 to ₹20,000
Video script ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 ₹3,000 to ₹15,000
Whitepaper ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 ₹15,000 to ₹40,000
Social graphics, 10 posts ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 ₹5,000 to ₹15,000

A one-time content strategy document costs ₹15,000 to ₹50,000. The honest trade-off: cheap content is now nearly free to produce with AI tools, so the price you pay is for research, original data, and distribution. If an agency cannot show you where each article will be promoted, you are buying words, not marketing. The content marketing cost and ROI guide has the payback timeline we use with clients.

Email marketing cost in India

Email marketing cost in India is ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month for campaign management plus a platform fee.

Component Cost
Platform (Mailchimp, Brevo, Zoho Campaigns) Free to ₹5,000 a month for lists under 10,000
Template design ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 one time
Copywriting ₹500 to ₹3,000 an email
Automation setup (welcome, abandoned cart, win-back) ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 one time
Campaign management ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month
List management and hygiene ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a month

Email still returns roughly ₹36 for every ₹1 spent on the widely quoted industry average, and abandoned cart flows alone recover 10 to 15 percent of lost e-commerce sales. The weakness in India is reach: open rates sit at 20 to 25 percent. The email marketing guide shows how to set up the three automations that do most of the work.

WhatsApp marketing cost in India

WhatsApp marketing cost in India has three parts: Meta's per-message fee, the platform fee, and whoever manages it. Meta has billed per delivered message rather than per conversation since 1 July 2025, and its India rate card in 2026 is about ₹0.86 for a marketing message and ₹0.115 for a utility message, with replies inside the 24-hour service window free (source: Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform pricing page). Most Indian BSPs then add a ₹999 to ₹2,500 monthly subscription plus a markup per message.

Our own product, PayPerWA, charges no subscription and a ₹0.20 per message platform fee on Meta's Cloud API, so a marketing broadcast costs about ₹1.06 a message all in. That makes it easy to test a 2,000-contact abandoned cart or festival broadcast for around ₹2,100 before committing to anything monthly. Read rates of 80 to 90 percent are why we now pair WhatsApp with email for every e-commerce client. The WhatsApp marketing cost breakdown and the WhatsApp Business API guide cover approval, templates and opt-in rules.

Digital marketing cost for small business

Digital marketing cost for small business in India should be ₹20,000 to ₹45,000 a month in total, including ad spend, for a company with revenue under ₹50 lakh.

Channel Monthly budget
Google Business Profile plus local SEO ₹5,000 to ₹10,000
Google Ads, local, including spend ₹10,000 to ₹20,000
Social media, one or two platforms ₹5,000 to ₹15,000
Total ₹20,000 to ₹45,000

For a medium business (₹50 lakh to ₹5 crore revenue) the realistic monthly total is ₹75,000 to ₹2,25,000: SEO ₹15,000 to ₹40,000, Google Ads ₹30,000 to ₹1,00,000, social ₹15,000 to ₹40,000, content ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 and email ₹5,000 to ₹15,000.

Before you spend any of this, fix the website. Most small-business accounts we audit send paid traffic to pages with no phone number above the fold, no WhatsApp button and a form nobody answers. The usual causes are in why Indian business websites do not generate leads.

Digital marketing charges: how agencies bill and what to watch

Digital marketing charges in India follow three billing models. A fixed retainer (₹15,000 to ₹3,00,000 a month) is standard for SEO, social and content. A percentage of ad spend (10 to 20 percent) is common for paid media once budgets pass ₹3,00,000 a month. A hybrid, usually a ₹30,000 to ₹75,000 base plus 5 to 8 percent of spend, is where most mid-market accounts settle.

Whatever the model, insist on these in the contract: ad accounts and the Google Business Profile stay in your name; the media budget is paid from your card or your account, not routed through the agency; reporting is monthly at minimum and shows cost per lead or cost per sale; and there is a 30-day exit. The other expense owners forget is tools: Ahrefs or Semrush is ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 a month, and a good agency includes that in its fee rather than billing it separately.

Digital marketing expenses: freelancer, agency or in-house

Option Monthly cost Best for Weak point
Freelancer ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 One channel, budget under ₹15,000 Single point of failure, no backup, limited tooling
Small or Tier-2 agency ₹25,000 to ₹1,00,000 Two to four channels for an SMB Fewer specialists per channel
Large agency ₹1,00,000 to ₹5,00,000 and above Multi-city brands, big media budgets Junior staff on small accounts, slow approvals
In-house marketer ₹40,000 to ₹1,00,000 salary plus ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 tools Companies spending over ₹2,00,000 a month on media One person cannot cover SEO, ads, design and copy well

My rule: under ₹15,000 a month, hire one specialist freelancer for the channel that matters most. Above ₹25,000 a month across two or more channels, an agency beats juggling three freelancers. Above ₹2,00,000 a month in media, hire in-house and keep an agency for overflow and audits. The lead generation playbook walks through that decision for founders.

How to choose a digital marketing agency in India

Ask five questions before signing: case studies with a baseline, a date and a number; what the monthly report contains and who presents it; who works on your account by name; which tools they use; and the exit notice period. If any answer is vague, move on.

Frequently asked questions

Digital marketing cost in India is ₹15,000 to ₹1,50,000 a month for most small and mid-size businesses in 2026, before ad spend. One channel from a freelancer starts near ₹8,000. A small agency running two or three channels charges ₹25,000 to ₹60,000. A full retainer with SEO, Google Ads, Meta ads, social, content and email runs ₹75,000 to ₹2,25,000, and enterprise programmes with video and PR go past ₹5,00,000. Add your media budget on top: Google and Meta are paid separately, and a local business should plan at least ₹15,000 a month there. Anything sold as complete digital marketing for ₹3,000 a month is template posting, not marketing.

A small business with revenue under ₹50 lakh should budget ₹20,000 to ₹45,000 a month in total. That buys Google Business Profile plus local SEO (₹5,000 to ₹10,000), a local Google Ads campaign (₹10,000 to ₹20,000 including spend) and one or two social platforms (₹5,000 to ₹15,000). Skip email and content retainers until the website converts, because paying for traffic to a site that does not convert is the most common way small businesses waste money. If you can only afford one channel, pick the one your customers already use to find you: Google for services, Instagram for visual products, WhatsApp for repeat buyers.

Pay per click advertising rates in India have two parts. Clicks themselves cost ₹5 to ₹30 in e-commerce, ₹20 to ₹80 in healthcare, ₹30 to ₹100 in real estate and ₹50 to ₹200 in legal and finance, with most advertisers outside finance paying ₹25 to ₹60 a click in 2026. Management is billed on top: ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month from a freelancer, ₹10,000 to ₹40,000 at a small agency, and 10 to 20 percent of spend once the budget crosses about ₹3,00,000 a month. A local service business should expect ₹15,000 to ₹40,000 a month all in, an e-commerce store ₹40,000 to ₹1,25,000.

Social media marketing cost in India is ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 a month per platform for Instagram or Facebook management, ₹8,000 to ₹30,000 for LinkedIn and ₹15,000 to ₹50,000 for YouTube because video costs more to produce. Per piece, expect ₹500 to ₹2,000 for an Instagram post, ₹1,000 to ₹3,000 for a LinkedIn post and ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 for a YouTube video. Paid social management adds ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 a month plus the ad budget. A small business on Instagram, Facebook and Google needs ₹15,000 to ₹40,000 a month in total; agencies that publish rates quote ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 for a basic organic plan.

Content marketing cost in India is ₹8,000 to ₹20,000 a month at a small agency for two to four blog posts and distribution, and ₹20,000 to ₹60,000 at a mid-size agency for weekly long-form content with design and outreach. Per piece, a 1,000 word blog post is ₹500 to ₹3,000 from a freelancer and ₹2,000 to ₹8,000 from an agency; a case study is ₹3,000 to ₹25,000; a whitepaper ₹5,000 to ₹40,000. A one-time strategy document costs ₹15,000 to ₹50,000. Content pays back slowly: budget for at least six months before judging it, and insist on a keyword and distribution plan, not just a word count.

Email marketing cost in India is ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 a month for campaign management at a small agency, plus the platform fee, which is free to ₹5,000 a month on Mailchimp, Brevo or Zoho Campaigns for lists under 10,000. One-time costs are ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 for template design and ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 for automation setup such as welcome and abandoned cart flows. Copywriting runs ₹500 to ₹3,000 an email. Email is still the cheapest channel per sale for e-commerce, but open rates in India sit around 20 to 25 percent, so many of our clients now pair it with WhatsApp, where read rates run 80 to 90 percent.

Three models cover almost every agency. A fixed monthly retainer, ₹15,000 to ₹3,00,000, is the norm for SEO, social and content, and for Google Ads under about ₹3,00,000 of spend. A percentage of ad spend, 10 to 20 percent, is common once the media budget is large; it aligns the agency with growth but rewards spending, not efficiency. A hybrid, typically a ₹30,000 to ₹75,000 base plus 5 to 8 percent of spend, is what most mid-market advertisers end up on. Ask which model you are on, whether the ad budget is paid directly to Google and Meta from your own account, and whether you own the ad accounts and data when you leave.

Five signs to walk away. Guaranteed rankings or guaranteed lead counts: nobody honest promises those. Complete digital marketing for ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 a month: at that price it is templates or an unsupervised intern. No case studies with a baseline and a date, only percentages. Twelve-month lock-ins with no 30-day exit. And a strategy the agency cannot explain in plain Hindi or English for months one, two and three. Also ask who works on your account by name, which tools they use (Google Analytics, Search Console and Ahrefs or Semrush should be standard) and whether ad accounts stay in your name.
