Hago: Party, Chat & Games is a JOYY Inc. (NASDAQ:YY) product, launched in 2018 by the YY group. The Android package id com.yy.hiyo betrays its lineage — built on YY (now JOYY) infrastructure, operated through HAGO SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. Hago sits inside the same JOYY family as BIGO Live, Likee and MICO.
Key 2026 numbers (verified, with sources):
- ~500M lifetime downloads globally (most-cited public figure across third-party trackers, as of 2024)
- ~209M MAU at historical peak (JOYY disclosures, May 2019)
- Indonesia is the biggest market, followed historically by India (~14% of users pre-ban), Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand

The India Ban Reality — What It Means for Indian Resellers
Hago was banned in India on 29 June 2020 as part of the first MEITY tranche of 59 Chinese-origin apps (TikTok, UC Browser, Likee, BIGO Live were in the same batch). The ban has NOT been lifted as of 2026 — Hago remains off the Indian Play Store and App Store, and Indian ISPs continue to enforce DNS-level blocks.
Practical reseller implications:
