Cost Factors

What Affects Website Cost in Delhi

Understanding these factors helps you budget accurately and avoid surprises.

Number of Pages

A 5-page business website costs less than a 50-page portal. More pages = more content, design, and development time.

Design Complexity

Template-based designs are cheaper. Custom UI/UX with animations and unique layouts costs more but converts better.

Features & Functionality

A static website is cheaper than one with booking systems, payment gateways, user accounts, or admin dashboards.

E-Commerce vs Informational

Online stores need product management, cart, payments, shipping — adding ₹30,000–₹2,00,000 to the base cost.

CMS & Admin Panel

If you need to update content yourself, a CMS like WordPress or a custom admin panel adds to the cost.

SEO & Speed Optimization

Basic SEO is included. Advanced SEO with keyword research, content strategy, and technical optimization is extra.

Maintenance & Support

Most agencies include 1-3 months free support. Ongoing maintenance plans range from ₹2,000–₹10,000/month.

Technology Stack

WordPress is cheaper. React/Next.js costs more but delivers better performance, SEO, and scalability.

Why Delhi website quotes run from Rs 8,000 to Rs 4 lakh, market by market

Checked

Delhi has the widest spread between quotes for the same brief of any city I sell in. A five-page site for a Karol Bagh trader gets Rs 8,000 in Nehru Place and Rs 4 lakh in Connaught Place, and both vendors are being honest.

Rent is most of the difference

Connaught Place was ranked the ninth most expensive office location in the world by CBRE in July 2018, at roughly $153 per square foot a year. Khan Market sat at number 20 on Cushman & Wakefield's 2019 list of the most expensive commercial streets. An agency paying either rent recovers it in your invoice.

We work from Lucknow. The business website row above, Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000, is design and development cost with no Delhi rent inside it. A remote quote is lower for that reason, not lower quality.

Who in Delhi buys, and what they should buy

Services were 85 percent of Delhi's GSDP in 2020-21, GSDP reached Rs 11.07 lakh crore in 2023-24, and per capita income ranks third nationally. The buyers who reach this page, though, are mostly traders and small firms.

Buyer Where they sit What I usually quote
Wholesaler Sadar Bazaar, Gandhi Nagar, Tank Road (Karol Bagh) Catalogue site with login price list, Rs 25,000 to Rs 45,000
Electrical, stationery, wedding-card trade Bhagirath Palace, Nai Sarak, Chawri Bazar WordPress plus WhatsApp enquiry, Rs 17,500 to Rs 35,000
Clinic, coaching, salon, property dealer Residential colonies across the city Business site with Hindi pages, Rs 35,000 to Rs 70,000
D2C or retail brand Khan Market, Hauz Khas, Shahpur Jat E-commerce store, Rs 50,000 upward

Sadar Bazaar is widely described as India's largest wholesale market, moving an estimated Rs 300 crore a day in toys, imitation jewellery, stationery and household goods. Gandhi Nagar has been called Asia's biggest readymade garment market since at least a 2008 report in The Hindu. Neither sells single pieces at fixed prices, so a cart is the wrong product. A catalogue with pack sizes and a WhatsApp button costs a third of it.

Chandni Chowk is really six markets: Bhagirath Palace for electrical goods, Nai Sarak for stationery and books, Chawri Bazar for wedding cards and sanitaryware, Khari Baoli for spices, Kucha Mahajani for gold. Since the 1.3 km stretch from Red Fort to Fatehpuri Masjid was closed to daytime motor traffic in 2021, more trade enquiry comes by phone. A site here has one job: the buyer finds the category, sees you stock it, taps to call.

Nehru Place, a DDA district centre completed in 1972 with 89 buildings, is where many Delhi buyers get their first quote, usually a template site bundled with a laptop. Read the Rs 8,000 FAQ before you take one.

Hiring in-house instead

Indeed puts the average web developer in New Delhi at Rs 36,467 a month from 44 reported salaries (February 2024), about Rs 4.4 lakh a year before a desk and laptop. A full business site costs less than three months of that. Hire in-house only if you ship changes weekly; otherwise a Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 monthly plan covers it.

GST and paperwork

Codingclave Development LLP is registered in Uttar Pradesh, so an invoice to a Delhi client is an interstate supply with 18 percent IGST shown separately. Send your Delhi GSTIN with the enquiry and the credit shows in your GSTR-2B. Prices here include GST. For an unregistered proprietor the 18 percent is a real cost, and the quote says so.

Remote from Lucknow, or a Delhi agency?

Delhi is an overnight train from us and the same time zone. The project runs on WhatsApp and a weekly call, which is how a Gurgaon agency would run it for a client in Rohini anyway. A local vendor is better when you need a photographer in your showroom, someone in the room for a tender presentation, or on-site training for a large staff. For a catalogue, a business site or an online store, the address on the invoice adds rent and nothing else.

Questions we get from Why Delhi website quotes run from Rs 8,000 to Rs 4 lakh, market by market buyers

I have a wholesale shop in Sadar Bazaar. Do I need an e-commerce store or just a website?
Almost always just a website, even though the e-commerce row in my table pays me better. Sadar Bazaar does an estimated Rs 300 crore of business a day, nearly all of it wholesale with minimum quantities, credit terms and bargaining. A public cart with fixed prices does not fit that. What works is a catalogue site at Rs 25,000 to Rs 45,000: product photos, pack sizes, a price list behind a simple login for regular buyers, and an enquiry button that lands on your WhatsApp. If you later sell single pieces to consumers, we add a Rs 50,000 plus store on the same domain. Do not pay for the cart on day one.
A shop in Nehru Place quoted me Rs 8,000 for a full website. What am I missing?
Usually three things. First, the domain and hosting are often registered in the vendor's name, so when you want to move, you cannot. I have untangled this for Delhi clients more than once. Second, it is a purchased theme with your logo dropped in, fine for a visiting card site but it breaks the moment you need a booking form or a Hindi page. Third, there is no written scope, so the 'full website' ends at five pages and every change is billed. If Rs 8,000 is the budget, take a Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 landing page with the domain in your name and a fixed scope instead.
Should my Delhi website be in Hindi or English, or both?
Depends on who pays you. Under the Delhi Official Languages Act, 2000, Hindi and English are official and Punjabi and Urdu are additional official languages, but no law requires any of them on a website. For wholesale and B2B sellers in Gandhi Nagar, Karol Bagh or Okhla, I build English only; their buyers across India search in English. For a clinic, coaching centre, salon or property dealer serving a neighbourhood, I add Hindi versions of the service and contact pages, roughly 10 to 15 percent on top of the base price for translation and testing Devanagari in the layout. Punjabi or Urdu pages are rare and quoted case by case.
