Overview
Google Play has required Android 16 (API 36) since 31 August 2026, and the extension it grants on request ends on 1 November. Apple accepts only Xcode 26 builds. We bring your iOS and Android app up to those rules and fix crashes in between, re-testing every Arabic screen before submission. Send your App Store and Google Play links on WhatsApp for a free check of what blocks your next release, no logins needed. The work is done from Lucknow, India, in UAE business hours, for apps used in Dubai and across the Emirates.

Quick answer
Can my app still ship an update on Google Play and the App Store in October 2026?
Only if it passes five checks, as of 12 October 2026. Google Play accepts updates that target Android 16 (API 36), with an extension to 1 November 2026 for apps granted one in Play Console. Apple accepts builds made with Xcode 26 and the iOS 26 SDK, with iOS 13 or later as the minimum. Apple's updated age-rating questions must be answered in App Store Connect. Anyone who can sign up must be able to delete their account inside the app. And the privacy manifest must give a reason for every required-reason API, SDKs included. A no on any of these can get the next release rejected or held.
- Play: API 36 for updates since 31 Aug 2026; API 35 to stay visible to new users
- Play extensions, where granted, run only to 1 Nov 2026
- Apple: Xcode 26 since 28 Apr 2026; iOS 13 minimum since 9 Sep 2026
- Native code: 16 KB page support for Play updates from 1 Feb 2027
- Retainer: OS and SDK bumps, crash fixes, Arabic QA, payment SDKs, store paperwork

What the retainer pays for each month, and what it doesn’t
Maintenance means the app you have keeps passing this year's store reviews on this year's phones. New features are a separate quote.
Yearly SDK and target bumps
Raising targetSdk, Gradle and AGP, NDK r28+ for 16 KB pages, Xcode upgrades, and moving Flutter or React Native to a supported release with every plugin.
Crash and ANR triage
Crashes and "app not responding" errors from Crashlytics or Sentry, fixed in order of users affected, not of who complained last.
Arabic and RTL regression pass
After each OS or framework upgrade: mirrored layouts, Arabic fonts, and mixed-direction text in forms, receipts, phone and IBAN fields, checked in a bilingual QA pass before every store submission.
Payment SDK upkeep
Stripe, Telr, PayTabs, N-Genius, Tabby and Tamara SDK or plugin updates, tested in each provider's sandbox before release. Adding a new gateway is a build: see payment gateway integration.
Push keys and backend versions
Rotating the APNs auth key when it is revoked, keeping the Firebase config in sync with each build, and moving the app off backend API versions before your provider retires them.
Store paperwork
Privacy manifest reasons, the Play Data safety form, the age-rating questionnaire and the account-deletion flow, kept in step with what the app collects. Apps holding UAE users' personal data fall under the federal PDPL (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), or DIFC and ADGM rules for firms there, so the privacy policy and store forms must agree.
Small changes
Text and Arabic copy changes, an icon swap, a new field on an existing form. Anything that adds a screen is quoted separately.
Which apps
Flutter and React Native are what we build, so those apps are the easiest to take on. A native Swift or Kotlin app, or an older Ionic build, is assessed in the audit before we quote.
A new module or a redesign is scoped as a build through mobile app development. If the website needs the same care, see website maintenance.

Store rules that block your next update (checked 12 Oct 2026)
If your app sits in the "Apps affected" column and the fix has not been made, the store refuses the build or limits who can install it.
Apple removes apps nobody updates
Apple's App Store Improvements process flags apps not updated in three years with almost no downloads over a rolling 12 months. App Review notifies you in App Store Connect and gives you 90 days to submit an update. Existing installs keep working, but the listing comes down until an update is approved. Apps that crash on launch are removed immediately.
Account deletion is a review item on both stores
Apple's Guideline 5.1.1(v) wants deletion to start inside the app; deactivation alone fails review. Google wants the in-app path plus a web link, declared in the Data safety form. Sign in with Apple accounts also need their tokens revoked.
| Store | Rule | In force from | Apps affected | Typical fix |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Play | New apps and updates target Android 16 (API 36) | 31 Aug 2026; extension to 1 Nov 2026 on request in Play Console | All phone and tablet apps except permanently private ones | Raise targetSdk, update Gradle, AGP and plugins, retest permissions |
| Google Play | Existing apps target API 35 to stay available to new users on newer Android | 31 Aug 2026 | Apps still on API 34 or lower | The same bump |
| Google Play | Updates support 16 KB memory pages | 1 Feb 2027 | Apps with native code: NDK, native SDKs, some app builders | AGP 8.5.1+, NDK r28+, rebuild native libraries |
| Apple | Build with Xcode 26 and the iOS 26 SDK | 28 Apr 2026 | Every upload | Upgrade Xcode, fix deprecations, update CocoaPods and SPM packages |
| Apple | Minimum deployment target iOS 13 | 9 Sep 2026 | Apps supporting iOS 12 or older | Raise the deployment target |
| Apple | Answer the updated age-rating questions | 31 Jan 2026 | Every app | Complete the questionnaire in App Store Connect |
| Apple | Privacy manifest reasons for required-reason APIs, SDKs included | 1 May 2024 | Every upload | Update SDKs that ship their own manifest |
| Apple and Google Play | In-app account deletion; Google also wants a web link | Apple 30 Jun 2022; Google 31 May 2024 | Apps with sign-up | Deletion flow, web request page, Sign in with Apple token revocation |
| Apple | Push servers trust the new APNs certificate (SHA-2 USERTrust root) | 24 Feb 2025 | Push servers whose trust store lacks the USERTrust RSA root | Update the server trust store |
Ship one compliant release per store every year. Google's 2025 and 2026 target-API deadlines both fell on 31 August, so plan the Android release before then, and open Play Console's Policy status page once a month.
Not sure which rows apply? Send both store links on WhatsApp and we will mark them.

Before anyone opens the code: six things that break an app that worked last month
Check these first. They cost nothing, and most can be confirmed from your own accounts.
A phone update retired something the app uses
New iOS and Android versions deprecate APIs and tighten permissions such as location, notifications and photo access. The tell: crashes that begin the week a new OS version lands, on updated phones only.
Did push stop the day the developer left?
Then look at the APNs key. A revoked .p8 key, or an APNs certificate past its one-year life, stops notifications with no error on the phone. Distribution certificates and provisioning profiles expire too; the dates are in your Apple Developer account.
A payment SDK the provider has retired
Checkout fails at the payment step while everything else works. Search the inbox that owns each merchant account for deprecation notices from Stripe, Telr, PayTabs, N-Genius, Tabby or Tamara.
An unpaid backend, hosting or domain bill
A blank screen, or a login that loops back to itself, often means the server or domain renewal hit a card that no longer works.
A developer membership nobody renewed
Check the renewal date on the Membership page of your Apple Developer account. That's the whole test.
A listing hidden or removed after a policy notice
Google posts warnings and removals on Play Console's Policy status page; Apple messages you in App Store Connect. If the old developer opened the accounts, those notices went to their inbox, not yours.
None of these needs a new feature to fix. Seeing one of them right now? Tell us the symptom on WhatsApp.

Your developer has gone: the keys anyone needs before the next release
When someone asks me to take over an app, my first question is not about the code. It is: whose name is on the Apple Developer membership? The answer decides whether the next update ships from the existing listing or the app has to be republished. Tick what you can open today.
Apple: enrol the company, not a person
Organisation enrolment needs a legal entity, a D-U-N-S Number (free in most countries), someone with authority to bind the company, and a website and email on its own domain. Trade names and branches are not accepted. Our salon app cost guide covers the D-U-N-S step in a paragraph if you want the short version.
Google Play: an organisation account
Registration is a one-time USD 25. Personal accounts created after 13 November 2023 face extra testing steps before launch and belong to whoever opened them. Open an organisation account in your company's name and have the app moved into it.
| Asset | Where it lives | Should be owned by | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Developer membership | developer.apple.com | Your company as Account Holder (USD 99 a year, about AED 364) | Enrolled in the developer's own name or a trade name |
| App Store Connect | appstoreconnect.apple.com | Your Account Holder, with developers invited by role | Nobody at your company can sign in |
| Google Play Console | play.google.com/console | Your organisation account (USD 25 once, about AED 92) | The app sits in a freelancer's personal account |
| Play upload key | Keystore file and its password | Your company's password manager | Nobody can find the keystore or password |
| APNs key (.p8) and Firebase | Apple Developer account, Firebase console | Your Apple and Google accounts | Push stopped after the developer left |
| Source code | GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket | Your organisation | You only have an APK or IPA |
| Backend, domain and database | Cloud provider and registrar | Your company card and login | Billed to the developer's card |
| Gateway dashboards | Stripe, Telr, PayTabs, N-Genius, Tabby, Tamara | Your trade licence and bank | API keys under someone else's login |
| Crash reporting | Crashlytics or Sentry | Your accounts | No crash data at all |
Our rule: everything stays on your accounts. We are invited as users (App Store Connect role, Play Console permissions, repository collaborator), and at the end we hand over every login and remove our own access. Tell us on WhatsApp what you can still open.

Published AMC prices in the UAE, and how far 10 hours goes
Of the eight UAE pages we read on 12 October 2026 for this search, two publish an AMC (annual maintenance contract) price.
| Provider | Monthly price | Hours included | Works out per hour | A year at that price | Emergency response stated |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TechGropse, Essential | AED 1,500 | Up to 10, business-hours monitoring | About AED 150 | AED 18,000 | Next business day |
| TechGropse, Growth | AED 3,500 | Up to 30, 24/7 monitoring | About AED 117 | AED 42,000 | 4 hours |
| TechGropse, Enterprise | From AED 7,500 | Dedicated team | — | From AED 90,000 | 30 minutes |
| Suffescom guide, market ranges (30 Apr 2026) | AED 1,500–4,000 basic; 4,000–10,000 medium; 10,000–25,000+ enterprise. Its own plans: AED 2,000–5,000 and 5,000–12,000 | — | — | AED 18,000–300,000+ | Not stated; no method or source given |
| IDS Logic, GCC Marketing, Shyphan | No figure published | Quoted per project | — | — | Not quantified |
| Codingclave | AED 1,500–4,500, excluding VAT | Set in your written scope | Not a published rate | AED 18,000–54,000 | Only what your written scope states |
Ten hours goes fast. One compliant release plus minor fixes fits a quiet month, but a target-API bump on an older app with outdated plugins can use a month's cap on its own. Ask any provider, us included, what happens to unused hours and to a month when a store deadline needs more than the cap. With us, both are set out in the written scope, and work beyond the agreed hours starts only after you approve an estimate.

Three in four UAE mobile page views are Android, but the iPhone quarter can still block a release
StatCounter's September 2026 UAE figures count mobile page views, not phones sold. We found no public count of UAE phones by platform, so page views are the nearest figure.
| Platform | Share | Deadline biting now |
|---|---|---|
| Android | 73.3% | API 36 for updates (31 Aug 2026); 16 KB pages for native code (1 Feb 2027) |
| iOS | 26.7% | Xcode 26 and the iOS 26 SDK (28 Apr 2026); iOS 13 minimum (9 Sep 2026) |
Google's deadline reaches most UAE users, but an App Store rejection stops a release just as firmly for your iPhone customers. Flutter and React Native apps share one codebase yet still need two store submissions and two test passes; our Flutter vs React Native notes cover choosing between them.
Each native SDK (a payment library, a maps module, a camera plugin) has to be checked against every new target level. That plugin count, not the platform, sets the hours.

Why in-app voice and video calls fail on UAE networks
In June 2017 Khaleej Times reported the regulator's position that internet (VoIP) calling is reserved for licensed telecom providers, in practice e& (then Etisalat) and du. Calling built on an unlicensed third-party VoIP service can fail for UAE users while chat and data in the same app keep working. Those are older statements, so check current TDRA guidance before adding calling to a new app.
So the app rarely fails as a whole. Messages send, payments go through, and only the call button spins.
If your app has calling, each release pass includes a call test on e& and du: someone on your team places the call from a UAE SIM while we watch the logs on a video call. If a calling SDK update changes how calls connect, we tell you before the build is submitted.

When maintaining an old app costs more than rebuilding it
Some apps cost more to keep alive each year than to rebuild once. No source code? Then it's a rebuild.
| Signal | Points to maintenance | Points to a rebuild (AED 17,000–108,000) |
|---|---|---|
| Source code | Yours, and it builds today | Only a compiled app, or code that will not build |
| Framework | Still supported: current Flutter, React Native, Swift or Kotlin | Abandoned framework or unmaintained native plugins |
| Changes needed | Under a third of the screens | More than half the screens and flows |
| Accounts | In your company's name | Unrecoverable, so the app has to be republished anyway |
| Arabic | Works and needs only regression fixes | Never built for RTL, with layouts hard-coded left to right |
Between a third and a half of the screens, the framework and the Arabic layouts decide it. If the framework is abandoned (Ionic 3, say, or a React Native version whose native modules no longer compile), or the source is missing, we quote both options and you compare. Our Dubai app cost breakdown shows which features push an app build up the range.

Four questions for any app-care provider, and our answers
Whoever you hire, ask four questions: whose name is on the developer accounts, whether Arabic is in the test plan, what hours they work, and what response time they will put in writing. Our answers:
Who you deal with
You message me, Ashish Sharma, on WhatsApp (+91 92771 84741), or by email or video call, and I price the work myself. No account manager sits in between, and there is no UAE office: Codingclave Development LLP has worked from Lucknow, India, since 2017. Every account stays in your company's name.
Hours
Monday to Saturday, 08:30–17:30 Gulf Standard Time (10:00–19:00 in India). A rejection that lands after 17:30 waits until 08:30 the next working day, so submit early in the day when a deadline is close.
Access, not ownership
We work inside your accounts as invited users, and you can remove us at any time. The repository sits in your organisation, and what we add to it, IP included, is yours on final payment.
A named test pass
Both platforms, Arabic and English, each payment sandbox, and a call test from a UAE SIM where the app has calling. We recommend a Play staged rollout and an App Store phased release, so a bad build reaches few users before it is halted.
No 24/7 claim
TechGropse's Growth tier lists 24/7 monitoring. We don't offer that. Any emergency response, including work outside our hours, exists only if your written scope says so. No work starts on accounts you do not control.
Proof you can check

Pricing in AED
How app care is priced
Your price depends on how far behind the app is: a Flutter app on a current release may need only a few hours a month, while a React Native app untouched since 2021 needs a catch-up release first. The first check, from your public store links, is free and needs no logins. Monthly care runs AED 1,500–4,500; a release rescue or a takeover gets its own quote after a short discovery call and audit.

Rescues, takeovers and rebuilds are billed in AED and paid by transfer into our AED account, 40% upfront, 40% once we reach the mid-project milestone agreed in the scope, and 20% once the rescued or rebuilt app is live; a bug in that work costs nothing to fix for 6 months after launch. Response times and unused hours go in the scope you sign.
Prices are in UAE dirhams (AED) and exclude VAT. Project prices are converted from our GBP price list at GBP 1 = AED 4.90 (11 October 2026) and rounded; monthly plans are set in AED.
