Overview

From us, a business site is CAD 800–4,000 and goes live in 1–3 weeks. A customer portal gets a fixed quote inside CAD 6,000–60,000. We work remotely from Lucknow, India, on WhatsApp and early-morning video calls.

Quick answer

What does a Surrey firm's website or customer portal cost, and can it be built without a site visit?

From us, a business website is CAD 800–4,000 over 1–3 weeks, and a WordPress site your office edits itself is CAD 500–2,500. Portals and web apps sit in the custom-software band of CAD 6,000–60,000, with the price fixed once the scope is agreed. Nobody has to visit your yard: we work from your documents, photos and calls. Ashish Sharma, who founded Codingclave, writes that quote himself. On 19 Oct 2026, two of the six agency pages ranking on google.ca published prices: $699–3,499 (BigTime, currency not stated) and $1,500–3,000 (Let's Nurture's FAQ range).

Website, web application or customer portal: which one your Surrey firm needs

Start with who logs in. Only your staff, to edit pages: a website. Clients, to fetch documents that belong to them: a customer portal. Anyone entering data the system works on, such as a price or a schedule: a web application.

Who looks up a Campbell Heights or Newton firm online, and what they need to find

Surrey's nine industrial areas employed 71,685 people in 2025, by the City's Planning & Development count, with Newton at 22,540, Campbell Heights 12,638, Cloverdale 11,264 and Port Kells 10,854. Their firms mostly sell to other businesses, so the people opening their websites are estimators, buyers and dispatchers. Campbell Heights, 1,900 acres where more than 12,600 people work, shows the mix.

Pages that get you onto a GC’s or buyer’s bid list

An estimator opening your site checks four things before adding you to a bid list. Each page is priced in your quote.

  • A spec-sheet and drawing library

PDFs grouped by product, with the revision date in the file name and on the page, so nobody prices from last year's sheet. Gate a file behind an email address and you learn who is pricing your product.

  • An RFQ form that accepts drawings and site photos

PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG and the HEIC photos iPhones produce, stored privately, with a link in the notification email because a large drawing set bounces as an attachment. Require only project address, needed-by date and quantity.

  • A prequalification page

Your insurance certificate, a safety program summary and your WorkSafeBC registration status, each marked "as of" a date. A WorkSafeBC clearance letter confirms a business is registered and paying premiums and must be addressed to the firm requesting it, so the page says how a GC gets one.

  • A project gallery sorted by community

Jobs grouped by Cloverdale, Newton, South Surrey and the rest, never by street address, since many are clients' homes or active sites. Each gets the scope, the year and three to six photos.

A careers page that stays findable after the job-board post expires

The South Campbell Heights plan adds 350 acres of employment land and is expected to bring 5,907–7,702 jobs, raising the employment land available in Campbell Heights by 25% (Invest Surrey profile, 2026). An opening that sits only on a job board vanishes when the paid post ends. One on your own site, marked up for Google's job search, stays findable and costs nothing per applicant.

  • One URL per opening, marked up as a job posting

Each opening gets its own page with JobPosting data: title, description, date posted, your company and the work location. Google's job-posting documentation says expired posts must come down (a past validThrough date, removed markup or a 404) and that ignoring them can bring a manual action. A "filled" switch in the admin handles it.

  • An application form that asks only what this stage needs

Name, contact details, role, availability and a resume. No SIN, date of birth or licence scan before an offer; drivers are the exception, where a fleet may need a driver's abstract at screening. BC's privacy law, PIPA, governs what you collect; see the province table.

  • Resumes in private storage, deleted on schedule

Uploads go to storage only your hiring staff can open and are deleted after a period you choose, such as 12 months.

A login for the accounts you already serve

If someone in your office spends part of every day finding delivery slips or resending invoices, a portal hands that work to the customer. Screens we can build:

  • Delivery proofs and job photo logs

Drivers' photos and signed slips, uploaded from a phone and searchable by the customer's own PO or job number, plus a dated photo log per job for the GC or owner's rep.

  • Invoices and statements

Open and paid invoices with PDF downloads. We can connect it to QuickBooks Online or Xero, which stays the source of truth.

  • Warranty registration

End customers register by serial number or install address. You get a searchable register instead of paper cards.

  • Users and roles

One login per client firm with several users. Their payables clerk sees invoices; a site supervisor sees only their jobs.

Count how often each document is requested in a week; the most-requested one becomes the first screen. A portal is priced at a fixed figure inside the custom-software band of CAD 6,000–60,000, moved by the number of user roles, where documents come from and how many systems must stay in sync. Client lists and pipelines belong in a CRM.

None of our closest work is in Canada: a membership and publishing platform for the European Society of Medicine (ESMED, WordPress/PHP), the healthcare portal Dr. Akash Dubey's patients use to book online, and the Correct Prices price-comparison web app (React/Node).

The in-house route: a full-time designer on the Lower Mainland–Southwest median of CAD 32.69 an hour costs about CAD 63,746 a year at 37.5 hours over 52 weeks, before CPP, EI and vacation pay (our arithmetic). Worth it when there is design work every week. Canada-wide and big-city price levels are in the website cost guide.

Surrey’s six communities: when a service firm needs a page for each

The City of Surrey names six communities: Cloverdale, Fleetwood, Guildford, Newton, South Surrey and Whalley (City Centre). Google's spam policies count "creating substantially similar pages that are closer to search results than a clearly defined, browseable hierarchy" as doorway abuse, and six pages differing only in the name fit that.

  • Build a community page when something real differs

A crew or yard there, different hours, a showroom, or a run of finished jobs with photos. A Fleetwood page showing eight Fleetwood jobs helps the reader.

  • Otherwise, one service-area page

List the communities you cover and add a map. Our template system runs websites for 20+ government polytechnics in Uttar Pradesh, which is why I'd advise one good template over six name-swapped pages.

Ranking them after launch is digital marketing, CAD 600–6,000 a month from us; SEO for small businesses covers where to start.

Calls before your crew rolls out

On Surrey clocks our weekday live-call window is 5–9am until 31 October 2026. From 1 November, Eastern clocks fall back and BC's stay put, so it becomes 6–10am, returning to 5–9am when Eastern springs forward on 14 March 2027. That is the hour before trucks leave the yard. Washington falls back too, so until mid-March your US customers are an hour behind you.

India is 12½ hours ahead from 1 November. Send changes after the last job and check the staging link before the trucks leave.

When a Surrey firm is the better buy

Two cases favour someone in the Lower Mainland. If mapping a process means shadowing your estimators for weeks, that is easier in person. If your gallery has to sell, half a day with a Surrey photographer beats phone photos. Decisions made only around one table also suit in-person workshops, and a tender or vendor form may set supplier-location rules, so read its eligibility clause before asking anyone to quote.

Ask on WhatsApp

What do Surrey web design companies charge for a business website?

Two of the six agency pages ranking on google.ca on 19 October 2026 published prices. BigTime IT Solutions listed Basic at $699 and Business at $1,499 for up to 15 pages, currency not stated. Let's Nurture showed "$2,000 + HST" and an FAQ range of $1,500–3,000. The price table has each as printed. Our business websites are CAD 800–4,000.

How long does it take to build a business website in Surrey?

Pages ranking for Surrey quote about two weeks for a five-page package (Let's Nurture) and 12–16 weeks for a brand-led custom site (Studiothink). Our business websites take 1–3 weeks and WordPress sites 1–2 weeks. The usual hold-up is content, so gather certificates, spec sheets and job photos first.

Should I hire a freelance web developer in Surrey or a small team?

A freelancer suits one defined task, like a plugin fix or a new form, and the Upwork Surrey listing on page one is a fair place to find one. The risk is continuity if that person moves on. Codingclave sits between: founder-led by Ashish Sharma, 200+ projects worldwide since 2017, and Top Rated on Upwork with a 100% Job Success Score. See freelancer vs agency.

What does web application development cost in Surrey, and how is it different from a website?

A website presents information. A web application lets people log in and enter data the system acts on, such as a quote calculator or an account showing a customer's own invoices. From us, web apps and portals are quoted at a fixed price within CAD 6,000–60,000, usually over 6–16 weeks, because logins, roles and stored data need building and testing.

Do BC web designers charge GST, PST or HST?

BC charges GST at 5% and PST at 7%; there is no HST in British Columbia. The province's PST guidance on telecommunication services says PST does not apply to web design that doesn't include software, while separately charged software, telecommunication services or goods are taxable, and web hosting is taxable as software. Our own invoices are covered on the Canada page.

Our last web developer has moved on. Who looks after the WordPress site now, and what does upkeep cost?

We can, once you grant admin and hosting access; see taking over an existing site. On sites we build, bugs are fixed free for six months. After that, changes and upkeep are CAD 30–60 an hour, billed only when you ask: plugin and core updates, a backup restore test, form tests and swapping last year's insurance certificate. The maintenance checklist lists the rest.

Is a website still worth it for a Surrey B2B firm in 2026?

For a firm that sells to other businesses, we think so. BC Stats estimated Surrey at 733,760 residents in December 2025 and projects 955,249 by 2046, though the City is updating its projections for the 2024 housing laws. South Campbell Heights is expected to add 5,907–7,702 jobs. A buyer new to the area checks your site before they phone.

Are there grants for building a business website in BC?

The federal Canada Digital Adoption Program, the grant most owners remember, closed on 31 March 2025. On 19 October 2026 we found no BC or Surrey website grant we could verify, so leave grants out of the budget until a program confirms one in writing. Our national web development page cites the federal source.

How do I check reviews of a web developer before I hire one in Surrey?

Read the lowest-rated reviews first; they show how a firm handles problems. Look for a review count, because "Rated Excellent" with no number tells you little. For portal work, ask for a screen-share of an admin area. Ours: 4.9 on Google from 92 reviews on a Lucknow listing. See also how to check any developer and reading directory lists.

Is Codingclave hiring web developers in Surrey?

No. The team works in Lucknow, India, with no openings or office in Surrey, so none of the job-board listings this search shows are ours. Job Bank puts the Lower Mainland–Southwest web designer median at CAD 32.69 an hour. Our work for Surrey employers sits on the other side of the desk: careers pages with job-posting data.
