PayTabs vs Telr vs MyFatoorah: The 2026 GCC Comparison

GCC e-commerce demands different infrastructure than Western markets. Mada (KSA), KNET (Kuwait), Benefit (Bahrain), VAT rules per country, Arabic RTL UI — and Stripe alone supports none of those three local debit schemes, and doesn't onboard Saudi businesses at all.

I'm Ashish Sharma, founder of Codingclave. We're a founder-led team in Lucknow, India, building since 2017: 200+ projects, 4.9 on Google from 92 reviews, and Gulf builds such as Dubai Digital Xchange (Next.js with Sanity) and Sharqiyah (Next.js). For UAE stores we integrate PayTabs, Telr, N-Genius, Tabby and Tamara; MyFatoorah is in this comparison for Kuwait-heavy brands. Here's the honest comparison.

Quick Verdict by Country Mix

Your Primary Market Best Gateway Why
UAE-only D2C PayTabs or Telr Both have deep UAE coverage; Telr for high-volume
KSA-only D2C PayTabs Strong Mada + Tamara via PayTabs
Kuwait-only / Kuwait-heavy MyFatoorah KNET built in, Kuwait-headquartered; ask for a written KNET rate
Multi-country GCC (UAE+KSA+Kuwait) MyFatoorah or PayTabs Both serve all 6 GCC; pick by primary country
UAE + Egypt / Jordan PayTabs Broadest MENA coverage
High-volume UAE (AED 200K+/mo) Telr Published volume tiers; rates tailored above AED 500K/mo
Enterprise UAE (AED 5M+/mo) Network International Direct acquirer beats aggregator MDR

1. PayTabs — The MENA Generalist

Best for: Multi-country MENA (UAE, KSA, Egypt, Jordan), brands needing broad payment method mix

What PayTabs Does Best

  • Broadest MENA reach — UAE, KSA, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon
  • Native Mada (KSA), KNET (Kuwait), Benefit (Bahrain) all configured easily
  • Apple Pay + Google Pay out of box
  • Multi-currency settlement — AED, SAR, EGP, JOD, BHD, OMR, USD, EUR
  • Invoices and payment links built in (VAT itself — UAE 5%, KSA 15%, Bahrain 10%, Oman 5% — still belongs on your store's tax invoice)

Where PayTabs Falls Short

  • No public UAE rate card, so high-volume pricing can't be compared until PayTabs quotes you
  • Custom checkout less polished than Stripe
  • Subscriptions less mature than dedicated subscription platforms

PayTabs on a new store: within our e-commerce build price of AED 5,900–49,000 (excl. VAT); on an existing store, quoted after a short discovery call. See what a Dubai store costs to build and run.

2. Telr — The Published-Pricing Specialist

Best for: UAE + KSA high-volume merchants, brands wanting published card rates that fall as volume grows

What Telr Does Best

  • Published, volume-tiered UAE pricing — 2.45% + AED 1 at AED 10,000–24,999 a month, down to 2.25% + AED 0.50 from AED 50,000, tailored above AED 500,000 (telr.com/pricing, checked Oct 2026; fees carry 5% VAT)
  • Telr Mobile SDK — best native mobile UX in MENA
  • UAE-headquartered — fastest local support
  • Hosted Page + Direct API + Mobile SDK — three integration modes
  • Tabby included in every UAE plan, so cards and instalments sit on one contract

Where Telr Falls Short

  • Smaller MENA reach than PayTabs (mainly UAE + KSA)
  • Monthly fee at low volume (AED 249 under AED 10,000 in monthly sales, AED 199 up to AED 24,999)
  • Less ecosystem of plugins vs PayTabs

Telr on a new store: part of the same AED 5,900–49,000 e-commerce build (excl. VAT); adding it to a live store is quoted after a short discovery call.

3. MyFatoorah — The Kuwait Champion

Best for: Kuwait-first or Kuwait-heavy GCC, service businesses needing payment links

What MyFatoorah Does Best

  • KNET built in — MyFatoorah doesn't publish a Kuwait rate card, so get its KNET rate in writing (Kuwait gateway fees compared)
  • WhatsApp/SMS payment links — built-in, perfect for clinics, restaurants, real estate
  • Arabic invoicing UX — best in market
  • Kuwait-headquartered — strongest local support for Kuwait
  • Multi-currency: KWD, SAR, AED, BHD, OMR, USD, EUR

Where MyFatoorah Falls Short

  • UAE coverage less deep than PayTabs/Telr
  • Smaller MENA presence outside Kuwait/KSA/UAE
  • Subscription tooling weaker
  • Less integration partner ecosystem

MyFatoorah integration: quoted after a short discovery call and fixed once the scope is agreed.

What About Tabby and Tamara BNPL?

Tabby and Tamara are not full payment gateways — they're BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) providers that sit beside your main gateway, added direct through their own plugins or through the gateway (Telr includes Tabby; Tamara runs through PayTabs). For GCC D2C brands selling premium SKUs (AED/SAR 200+), adding Tabby + Tamara is worth testing:

  • Tabby — started in the UAE, now serves UAE and KSA shoppers; Pay in 4 instalments
  • Tamara — started in Saudi Arabia, now also licensed in the UAE; Pay in 3 / Pay in 4

A common GCC checkout stack is the main gateway (PayTabs/Telr/MyFatoorah) + Tabby + Tamara. On WooCommerce or Shopify, here is how we set up and test Tabby and Tamara on UAE stores, including when you only hold live keys.

VAT + ZATCA + FTA Compliance Reality

E-commerce in GCC isn't just about accepting payments. You need:

Country VAT E-Invoicing
UAE 5% B2B e-invoicing from 2027 via accredited service providers (B2C excluded for now)
KSA 15% ZATCA Phase 1 (mandatory) + Phase 2 (rolling out)
Bahrain 10% NBR-compatible
Oman 5% OTA-compatible
Qatar 0% (no VAT yet) N/A
Kuwait 0% (no VAT yet) N/A

Your gateway takes the payment; your store or accounting software issues the tax invoice. We set invoice templates to the format your tax adviser confirms, as custom work written into the scope. For VAT-registered KSA merchants, ZATCA e-invoicing is non-negotiable, so budget for a compliant e-invoicing provider alongside the gateway.

Common GCC Payment Stacks

"UAE-only D2C Premium Brand"

Stack: Shopify + PayTabs + Apple Pay + Tabby + Klaviyo + Aramex shipping Time: 2–6 weeks. Cost: within our e-commerce range of AED 5,900–49,000 (excl. VAT), fixed once the scope is agreed. More on Shopify development for UAE stores.

"Multi-Country GCC Marketplace"

Stack: Custom Next.js + MyFatoorah (or PayTabs) + Mada + KNET + Benefit + Apple Pay + WATI WhatsApp Time: set in the written scope. Cost: priced as custom software, AED 24,500–245,000 (excl. VAT).

"UAE Enterprise B2C"

Stack: Custom platform + Network International direct acquirer + PayTabs as failover + multi-currency settlement Time: set in the written scope. Cost: custom software, AED 24,500–245,000 (excl. VAT), fixed once the scope is agreed.

"KSA-First Premium D2C"

Stack: Shopify + PayTabs (Mada-first) + Tamara + Apple Pay + a ZATCA Phase 2-compliant e-invoicing provider + Klaviyo Time: 2–6 weeks for the store. Cost: AED 5,900–49,000 (excl. VAT) for the build; the e-invoicing provider bills separately.

How to Pick: Decision Tree

Are you Kuwait-first or Kuwait-heavy? → Pick MyFatoorah. Kuwait-headquartered with KNET built in; get its KNET rate in writing.

Are you UAE-only and processing AED 200K+/month? → Pick Telr. Its published card rate drops to 2.25% + AED 0.50 above AED 50,000 a month, and rates are tailored above AED 500,000.

Do you serve UAE + KSA + Egypt + Jordan? → Pick PayTabs. Broadest MENA coverage.

Are you UAE enterprise (AED 5M+/mo)? → Direct acquirer with Network International beats aggregators.

Are you serving global customers from a UAE entity? → Add Stripe alongside PayTabs/Telr for non-GCC traffic.

What Indian Brands Expanding to GCC Should Know

If you're an Indian D2C brand expanding to UAE/KSA, the math is:

  • Don't try to use Razorpay for GCC — you'll fail compliance
  • Set up a UAE free-zone or mainland company (IFZA and RAKEZ are popular picks; packages vary by activity, so compare written quotes)
  • Pick PayTabs (UAE) or PayTabs Saudi (KSA) as primary
  • Add Tabby + Tamara for BNPL (essential for premium D2C)
  • VAT-register if revenue >AED 375K/year (UAE) or SAR 375K/year (KSA)

Total time to launch: often 6-8 weeks or more, because the licence, bank account and gateway approval each wait on the one before.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on your country mix. PayTabs is the broadest MENA player — strong UAE + KSA + Egypt + Jordan. Telr is best for growing UAE merchants who want published, volume-tiered card rates (from 2.45% + AED 1 down to 2.25% + AED 0.50 as monthly sales rise, per telr.com/pricing, Oct 2026). MyFatoorah is best for Kuwait-first or Kuwait-heavy GCC merchants — Kuwait-based, KNET built in, licensed across the GCC; it doesn't publish a Kuwait rate card, so get its KNET rate in writing. Network International is best for UAE enterprise (direct acquirer relationship). For most UAE D2C brands, start with PayTabs.

Mada is Saudi Arabia's national debit card network, run by Saudi Payments under SAMA (the Saudi Central Bank) and carried on most Saudi bank debit cards. A KSA checkout that only takes Visa and Mastercard turns away a large share of Saudi shoppers. PayTabs, Telr and MyFatoorah all offer Mada; confirm it is switched on for your merchant account before launch.

Stripe onboards UAE businesses, but Saudi Arabia is not on its supported-country list (stripe.com/global, Oct 2026), and it lacks native Mada (KSA), KNET (Kuwait) and Benefit (Bahrain), so shoppers who pay that way cannot check out. PayTabs/Telr/MyFatoorah have these methods built in, and Telr's published UAE card rates (2.25-2.45%) sit below Stripe UAE's 2.9% + AED 1. Stripe makes sense if you serve global customers from UAE; PayTabs/Telr if your audience is GCC-domestic.

Adding one of the three to an existing store is quoted after a short discovery call and fixed once the scope is agreed. A new store with the gateway built in falls within our e-commerce range of AED 5,900–49,000, depending on markets (UAE + KSA + Kuwait), Apple Pay/Google Pay, GCC methods (Mada/KNET/Benefit), Arabic RTL UI and BNPL. A multi-vendor marketplace is custom software at AED 24,500–245,000. Prices exclude VAT: we are an India-based supplier, not UAE VAT-registered, so VAT-registered buyers usually apply the reverse charge (confirm with your tax adviser). UAE clients are invoiced in AED and pay 40/40/20 by bank transfer.

Yes, if you are VAT-registered: UAE 5%, KSA 15%, Bahrain 10%, Oman 5%. The gateway only takes the payment; the tax invoice, with your TRN and the right VAT treatment, comes from your store or accounting software. We set up invoice templates to the format your tax adviser confirms, agreed in writing as part of the scope. KSA also requires ZATCA (FATOORA) e-invoicing for VAT-registered merchants, and UAE B2B e-invoicing starts in 2027 through accredited service providers, so choose a compliant e-invoicing provider with your adviser.

Yes for premium D2C in GCC (AED/SAR 200+ baskets). Tabby started in the UAE and Tamara in Saudi Arabia; both now serve UAE and KSA shoppers, and running both widens approval coverage. Neither publishes merchant fees or conversion data, so get rates in writing and judge uplift on your own checkout. You can add them direct with their own plugins or through your gateway: Telr lists Tabby in its UAE plans, and Tamara documents a route for PayTabs merchants.
