Overview

The tier depends on three things: how many kinds of user log in, whether money moves inside the product, and whether iOS and Android apps have to ship on day one. Below are the tiers, the outside fees no build includes, and the cases where an AI builder such as Lovable is enough without us.

By Ashish Sharma, founder · Updated October 25, 2026

Quick answer

What should a US founder budget for an MVP built in India?

Our three tiers: $2,500–$5,000 for a lean web MVP with one type of user, $5,000–$10,000 once there are two or three roles, Stripe payments and an admin panel, and $10,000–$15,000 when iOS and Android apps ship with the web app or several outside systems have to connect. Published guides start higher: Helpware puts a simple MVP at $10,000–$40,000, and EnactOn starts its basic tier at $5,000 (both read on October 25, 2026). Roles, payments and platforms set the tier; the number of screens matters far less.

  • Lean MVP: $2,500–$5,000, 6–8 weeks
  • Roles, Stripe and an admin panel: $5,000–$10,000, 8–12 weeks
  • Web plus iOS and Android, or heavy integrations: $10,000–$15,000, 12–16 weeks
  • App store, Stripe, hosting and AI fees go on your own accounts
  • Changes after sign-off are priced in writing before any work

What each MVP tier builds, and what it leaves out

Most cost guides list tiers by complexity and stop there. A founder needs the opposite view: what is in the box, and what has to wait for version two.

MVP tiers in US dollars, with typical build weeks (October 2026)
TierWhat it buildsWeeksLeft for later
Lean MVP, $2,500–$5,000One type of user and one core workflow end to end, email or Google sign-in, a simple admin view, deployed to hosting in your name6–8Online payments, native apps, extra roles, custom illustration
Standard MVP, $5,000–$10,000Two or three user roles (for example buyer, seller and admin), Stripe checkout or subscriptions, transactional email, an admin panel with search and CSV export8–12iOS and Android apps, more than one or two outside integrations, a second language
MVP with apps, $10,000–$15,000The standard scope plus Flutter or React Native apps for iOS and Android, or several integrations such as a CRM, calendars, maps or an AI model API12–16Offline sync, real-time features at scale, anything that stores health records

Screens for the agreed workflow are designed in Figma and signed off before code in every tier; brand identity and illustration are not part of it. If you would rather have the screens first and decide on the build later, a UI/UX design project on our list is $300–$2,000.

Why these prices sit below US agency quotes

A founder holding two or three US quotes usually asks what is missing at these prices. The answer is mostly rates and overheads, plus a few services we don't sell.

  • Agency rates, as published

Helpware's 2026 guide lists United States rates of $80–$150+ an hour against $20–$45 for Asia, and EnactOn gives $80–$120 for the US and Western Europe against $25–$50 for India (both read on October 25, 2026). At $120 an hour, a 400-hour build is $48,000 before a single feature changes. The rate explains most of the gap between quotes for the same scope.

  • A Lucknow cost base

Salaries, rent and overheads follow an Indian city, not New York or San Francisco. It is not a discount for skipped testing: every tier is tested before launch and carries free bug fixes for 6 months afterwards.

  • No sales layer inside the price

There is no account executive, bid team or sales commission to recover. Ashish Sharma, the founder, reads your brief and writes the scope, and a small team builds it.

  • Written project management

Progress and decisions arrive in writing, with staging links you open when it suits you. That removes the hours of status meetings a large agency bills for, and it fits a team whose working day falls in the US night.

  • What a US startup studio sells that we don’t

Product strategy and pitch support for your raise, design sprints with recruited users, a brand identity, and a vendor that is registered and insured in the US. If those matter more to you than price, pay a US studio for them.

Fees outside the build, read on October 25, 2026

Other companies charge these, usually to accounts opened in your company's name. None of them is inside our tier prices, and the written quote lists the ones your MVP will need.

Third-party fees an MVP can incur, as listed on each vendor's US page
ServiceListed priceNeeded when
Apple Developer Program$99 per membership yearThe MVP ships an iPhone app
Google Play developer account$25 one-timeThe MVP ships an Android app
Stripe card payments2.9% + 30¢ per successful domestic card charge, plus 1.5% for international cards and 1% when currency conversion appliesAnything that takes money
Stripe Billing0.7% of Billing volume on pay-as-you-goSubscriptions and recurring invoices
Web hosting (Vercel)Pro at $20 a month with $20 of usage included; the free Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial useA Next.js or React front end
Database and sign-in (Supabase)Pro from $25 a month; free projects pause after a week without activityUser accounts, data and file storage
Transactional email (Resend)3,000 emails a month free (100 a day); Pro $20 a month for 50,000Sign-up, password reset and notification emails
AI model APIPer million tokens: OpenAI gpt-6.1-sol $2.00 in, $10.00 out; Anthropic Sonnet 5.5 $2 in, $10 outSummaries, chat, extraction or any other AI feature

AI usage is easy to underestimate. Take a feature that sends about 2,000 tokens in and gets 500 back, used 10,000 times a month: on either mid-priced model above that is $40 of input and $50 of output, about $90 a month. A small model such as OpenAI's gpt-6-luna, listed at $0.10 in and $0.50 out per million tokens, carries the same traffic for under $5.

When a no-code or AI builder is enough without us

If the open question is still whether anyone will use the product, a builder subscription answers it for less than any tier here. On October 25, 2026, Lovable listed Pro at $25 a month, Base44 started its paid plans at $16 a month billed annually, and Bubble listed Starter at $59 a month billed annually.

  • Stay on the builder while

You are testing demand with a waitlist, a clickable demo or a tool for ten pilot users, the data is not sensitive, a Stripe payment link covers payments, and you want to change the product yourself every day.

  • Move to a coded build when

Paying customers depend on it, different users need different permissions, an investor's technical review is coming, or credits and workarounds now cost more each month than hosting a coded app would.

  • The prototype is never wasted

A working builder prototype is the best brief a development team can get. It shows the screens, the flow and the edge cases you have already hit, which shortens scoping and keeps the quote honest.

05of 8

Already built a prototype with Lovable, Bolt, Base44 or Claude Code?

Many founders now arrive with something that works on a laptop. Turning it into a product is usually the same short list of jobs, and most of them never show up in a demo. Send the repository or the export with your brief; the free quote names what has to change and one fixed price for it.

  • Sign-in and permissions

Generated apps often check who may see a record only in the browser, where anyone can bypass it. The rules move to the server or into database policies, such as row-level security on Supabase.

  • The data model

Tables that grew one prompt at a time collect duplicated fields and no constraints. They get reshaped for the next year of features, with a migration so your test data survives.

  • Secrets and exposed endpoints

API keys pasted into front-end code, public storage buckets and endpoints anyone can call without limits are the usual finds. Keys move to server-side environment variables and every endpoint is checked for who can reach it.

  • Payments that match access

A payment link is fine for a pilot. Real billing needs Stripe webhooks, failed-payment handling and a record of who paid for what, so that access always matches the subscription.

  • Tests, monitoring and hosting you control

Automated tests for the core workflow, error monitoring, backups, and hosting in your own accounts, so the product no longer depends on a builder subscription staying active.

Some prototypes need a short hardening pass; others are cheaper to rebuild on the same design. The quote says which, before you pay for either.

How the price stays fixed after you sign

  • Scope before price

The quote lists screens, user roles, integrations and exclusions next to one USD price. Work starts only after you have agreed that document.

  • New ideas get their own price

A feature you think of after sign-off is priced and scheduled in writing. You can accept it, decline it, or swap it for something of similar size that is already in scope.

  • Outside surprises, shown before they are billed

If an API you chose changes its terms mid-build, or an app store reviewer asks for something that was not in scope, you see the extra work and its price in writing before anyone does it.

Three example scopes, priced from the tiers

These are illustrations of how a scope maps to a tier, not client projects.

  • Example scope: booking for a home-services firm

Customers pick a time slot, staff see a day view, and the owner gets an admin list with CSV export. One customer type, one workflow and email reminders; staff collect payment on the job. That is a Lean MVP at $2,500–$5,000, and syncing staff calendars with Google would push it toward the top of the band.

  • Example scope: an equipment-rental marketplace

Owners list items, renters book and pay by card, the platform keeps a fee through Stripe Connect, both sides get email updates, and an admin settles disputes. Three roles plus payments makes it a Standard MVP at $5,000–$10,000; identity checks on owners would be priced on top, and Stripe Connect's own fees apply.

  • Example scope: a coaching app with a web dashboard

Clients log sessions in iOS and Android apps, coaches review them in a web dashboard, and subscriptions are sold on the web through Stripe. Two apps plus the dashboard is the MVP-with-apps tier at $10,000–$15,000. Selling the subscription inside the apps instead brings in Apple's and Google's billing rules, covered on app development cost in India.

Health data and money movement: what changes

  • Health records

We don't build MVPs that store or process protected health information, and we don't sign Business Associate Agreements. A product that needs HIPAA safeguards belongs with a US firm that runs a HIPAA program; Techtic's 2026 guide estimates that compliance work alone at $20,000–$80,000. A wellness or habit tracker that never touches medical records is a different case, and your counsel can tell you which side your idea is on.

  • Products that move money

Lending, payouts between users, stored balances and crypto raise licensing questions a developer cannot answer. Your compliance partner or sponsor bank sets the rules first and the build follows them. For plain card payments, Stripe Checkout keeps card numbers off your servers altogether.

  • AI-heavy products

When the product is mostly model output (retrieval over your documents, agents that take actions, scoring that affects people), the work is in evaluation and guardrails as much as in screens. Those MVPs are quoted after a short written scope rather than fitted into a tier.

How it works

How an MVP build runs, from scope to launch

Start on WhatsApp
  1. Scope and screens

The brief becomes a written scope, and the screens for the core workflow are designed in Figma. You sign off both before any code is written, and the first payment starts the build.

  2. Build on staging

The product takes shape on a staging site you can open at any time. Progress and questions arrive in writing, so you review on your own schedule.

  3. Mid-project milestone

The core workflow works end to end on staging. You test it, send changes that are inside the scope, and the second payment falls due.

  4. Testing and launch

Fixes from your testing, deployment to production, app store submission when the tier includes apps, and a handover of every login and the code.

  5. The six months after launch

Bugs in the delivered scope are fixed free. New features are priced in writing like any other change.

Founder-led by Ashish Sharma

Ask on WhatsApp (India)

How much does an MVP cost?

It depends mostly on who builds it. Helpware puts 2026 MVPs at $10,000–$200,000+, a range driven by rates as much as by scope. With us, a lean web MVP is $2,500–$5,000, one with two or three roles, Stripe payments and an admin panel is $5,000–$10,000, and a web app with iOS and Android apps is $10,000–$15,000. Outside fees such as hosting, Stripe, the app stores and AI APIs come on top and are billed to your own accounts.

What does "MVP cost" include?

The build cost covers scoping, screen design for the agreed workflow, development, testing and deployment to your hosting. It does not cover running costs: hosting, database, email, Stripe's percentage, app store accounts and any AI model usage, which together can run from under $50 a month at launch to a few hundred once customers arrive. Ask every vendor to list both columns separately, because a quote that hides the second one is not cheaper.

What is an MVP in software development?

A minimum viable product is the smallest version that real users can complete the core job with, so you learn whether they will use it and pay for it. It is not a demo or a mock-up: people sign in, their data is saved and the main workflow works end to end. Everything that does not serve that one job waits for version two, which is why a well-scoped MVP takes weeks rather than months.

How long does it take to build an MVP?

With us, 6–8 weeks for a lean web MVP, 8–12 weeks for one with roles, payments and an admin panel, and 12–16 weeks when iOS and Android apps ship as well. The clock starts when the scope is signed. Add time you control: feedback on designs, test accounts for outside services, and the Apple and Google developer accounts, which an organization needs a D-U-N-S number to open.

Is $2,500 enough to build an MVP?

For a tight scope, yes: one type of user, one workflow done properly, sign-in, an admin view and deployment, which is the lean tier at $2,500–$5,000. It is not enough for a marketplace, anything with payments between users, or native apps. If your list of must-haves keeps growing, cut it to the single job users would pay for, then decide whether a builder such as Lovable can test that job first.

Can you make an AI-built prototype production-ready?

Yes. Send the repository or export from Lovable, Bolt, Base44 or Claude Code with a short description of who will use it. The quote lists what needs work, usually server-side permissions, the data model, exposed keys, Stripe webhooks, tests and hosting in your own accounts, and gives one fixed price. Sometimes rebuilding on the same design costs less than repairing, and the quote says so.

Do you build HIPAA-regulated MVPs?

No. We don't take MVPs that store or process protected health information, and we don't sign Business Associate Agreements, so a product covered by HIPAA should go to a US firm with a HIPAA program. Health-adjacent ideas that never touch medical records, such as habit or fitness trackers without clinical data, are a different case; ask your counsel first and send us the answer with your brief.
