E-Commerce Development in Windsor

Windsor sits directly across the Detroit River from Detroit, Michigan, and is Canada's southernmost city — the only Canadian city geographically south of much of the continental US. Its economy is dominated by auto manufacturing: the Stellantis Windsor Assembly Plant produces minivans (Chrysler Pacifica, Voyager) and is being retooled for EV production, Ford has its Essex Engine Plant in Windsor-Essex, and the upcoming NextStar Energy EV battery gigafactory (Stellantis + LG Energy Solution, a multi-billion-dollar joint venture) will employ over 2,500 directly and many thousands more in the supplier ecosystem. The University of Windsor and St. Clair College both have very large international-student programs — St. Clair in particular has seen explosive South Asian, especially Punjabi-Indian, enrolment growth. The Indo-Canadian community is correspondingly young and growing fast — StatsCan 2021 put residents of Indian origin around 15,000 (likely undercounted relative to current student-population reality), concentrated near St. Clair's main campus, the south Windsor / Devonshire area, and along Tecumseh Road. Indo-Canadian SMBs here cluster around international-student services, immigration consultancies, restaurants and groceries along Tecumseh and Howard, cross-border logistics tied to the Ambassador Bridge / Gordie Howe International Bridge, and a growing student-housing market.
